This looks like the main structure of building C is getting close to its maximum height. The only section of naked rebar looks like it will be the home to elevator machinery.

▶ After refusing to concede the 2020 U.S. presidential election and then perpetuating false claims of widespread voter fraud, then-President Donald Trump summoned a mob to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The Committee received sworn testimony that Trump knew he did not win the election, identifying him as "the center of the first and only effort by any U.S. President to overturn an election and obstruct the peaceful transition of power".
▶ A terrible and sad moment in our history but also a critical one, reaffirming that no one in America is above the law, including (especially) the president. That is, of course, pending action by the Justice Department.

12th Recon Company, 6th May 1903, 12 Miles outside the Capital

It's been hard country for two days now, swamps and ruins in places we haven't seen them. A good third of us have either been born here or spend several years here, but to walk through it makes us lose our feet.
Buildings aren't just toppled about, they're addresses none of us have seen or known before, made worse by profane marks that dot the walls. Some of the men swear they're nauseous by looking at them, but that could just be the shock of all this. I'm not putting that idea in their heads.
Nightfall is worse for the men. One of the recruits saw something in the night sky and told the others; never got a look at what he saw, but the stars began to move. Circling about, joining or batting into each other before skipping off, leaving it absolute night. Pulled the lad aside and warned him never to speak of that again.
Today was a tipping point for us. We'd heard some kind of commotion in a nearby square. I brought our photographer to the front with us to capture this, because nothing I could write would be believable. We saw people dancing about, clothed in torn rags, their skin marked with blotches of what looked like blackness, were it not for the occasional glimmer or bit of debris.
They shouted and groaned in a language none of us knew, chanting while their profane dance continued. Others joined their group, but I didn't dare risk out secrecy. Shapes I couldn't describe and voices clear from the jungle or the mountains joined in.
Note: I'm ordering absolute secrecy for our unit, even in the case of civilians. I don't know if this is some kind of plague or infection, but there is a wrongness to the people here. I won't lose a man to it.

▶ To me, 1974's Mysterious Traveller marked Weather Report's transition from the improvisational sound of Miles Davis' Bitches Brew, in its first albums, to the more composed-through funk/rock vamping of its later efforts. It's also my personal favorite of Weather Report's pre-Jaco Pastorius oeuvre, and, in particular, the cuts: Blackthorn Rose with a beautiful soprano sax/piano duet, the miniature electronica of American Tango, the ethereal (and mysterious) title track, Mysterious Traveller, and the jazz-funk workout of Cucumber Slumber.

Diesel Traction Group's D1015 'Western Champion' arrives at Kidderminster Town station to work its first trip of the day to Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway. It was confirmed in May 2022 that a replacement MD538 engine had been successfully installed [B end]. 'The Champ' will also have the engine at The A end replaced and installation is expected later this year. In the interim, 1015 will continue to operate on the SVR.

Despite our briefings at the start of this whole damned affair, we knew there was something amiss about the capital after all of this started. Our encounter with the cultists and their pagan arts confirmed as much. Demons or not, enough bullets can put down these cultists and their spawn if the men's courage holds.
Our push to retake the main square ended in failure. A gathering of cultists discovered our scouts and before we could fight back, they retreated to call something strange.
A towering, veiled creature floated across the stones and over us. Strange symbols and trails of light floated across its skin with claws the size of swords, though it did not deign to use them. Instead, it would extend one arm and in a blink, one of them men would be turned to ash where he stood. A half-dozen of these disintegrations were enough to break the courage of our charge and force a retreat, save myself and a handful of others who dared not risk the demon's wrath.
We hid beneath the rubble like rats as this monster floated overhead, quiet and steady like fog. I ordered the photographer to capture an image of this terrible thing. No sane man would believe a report such as this without evidence.
Note: I know not if we should bear holy sigils or cannons against something like this. Where these things go, we must avoid. I've told the men whatever spirits they come across, they are welcome to; anything to keep our morale intact. I shudder to think on what else has infested the capital, or come to retake it from the hands of men.

On February 26, 2012, 17-year-old Travyon Martin was killed after returning from a local 7-Eleven(shop) in Sanford, Florida. Carrying only a bag of Skittles(candy) and a can of iced tea, Martin was reported to police for looking “suspicious” by 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman. Zimmerman, a white male with a violent criminal record, armed with a 9-millimeter handgun, pursued the young African-American student — despite being directed not to by the police dispatcher who had taken his call. Weeks after killing the young honor-roll student, Zimmerman is still free, claiming that he killed the boy in self-defense. But neighbors who know the confessed killer report that he has a knack for crime, especially against young Black males. Martin’s tragedy has made national headlines and his family, who believe that the teen’s only crime was “THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN,” continue to fight for his justice.
