the rubber is some kind of shrink material. It gets heated and shrinks over the barrel. Some manufactures use a glue and some don't. you can tell if your rubber slips. Slit the thing down one of the grooves between knurls and slip your knife under the edge and lift carefully. It peels right off. The Tokina had little ridges under the rubber and glue. Nice bond, unlike the Komine.
Lay the old piece over the one you just cut to get the dimensions and cut to size.
Do some checking before you cut, 'cause you only have one shot at this...

This project was designed and constructed using state-of-the-art software to design the building in 3-D. Generically, this process is called BIM (Building Information Modelling). During construction, the construction manager and each sub-contractor use the buidling file to identify "clashes" (i.e. points of interference where muliple objects have been initally assigned to occupy the same space). Here, the contractor's model is displayed on the wall while the project team reviews and solves identified problems. The team met weekly to resolve problems and update the master model. This saves time and money in the long run, since there is less chance for installed work to need replacement.
Both doors developed loose rocker moldings and started treading plastic pieces, creating a rattle. With some help from a buddy, I was able to locate the right clip and get it all tightened back up.
Also gave me a chance to clean up underneath. Probably could have used a clay bar on some water spots and dirt lines.
