After skipping the 1998 model year, Mercury introduced the eighth-generation Mercury Cougar for the 1999 model year. Serving as the replacement for the Ford Probe, the first front-wheel drive Cougar shifted market segments from two-door personal luxury coupe to three-door sport compact, introducing the first Mercury sport hatchback coupe since the 1986 Mercury Capri.
While marketed in Europe and Australia under the Ford brand, the eighth-generation Mercury Cougar was the first Mercury car since the 1991–1994 Mercury Capri sold without a direct Ford model equivalent in North America.
The 1999–2002 Cougars were available with two engine options, the 2.0 L Zetec straight-4 engine with 125 hp (93 kW; 127 PS), and the 2.5 L Duratec V6 with 170 hp (127 kW; 172 PS).
Initially outranking its predecessor in sales, the eighth-generation Cougar (marketed towards younger buyers) struggled to compete for sales against sedans (the Mercury Sable and Grand Marquis) in the Mercury model line. Posing a challenge to sales personnel acquainted with marketing luxury-segment vehicles to new-car buyers along with attracting younger buyers into Mercury showrooms.

Sterigentics was facing the typical problem facilities have when their roofs are 25 years old, leaks. A lot of the flashing around the HVAC units and skylights had deteriorated and was letting water underneath the membrane. After inspecting the existing insulation, we determined not all the insulation was damaged or wet so we were able to sa...lvage most of it, reducing the overall cost of the project.
They were happy with the previous TPO roof system’s chemical resistance, reflectivity and durability so we specified a mechanically attached re-cover with GAF’s 60-mil TPO membrane. We tore off all 65,549 square feet of the existing membrane and replaced the wet insulation as needed. Since there is a lot of foot traffic on the roof we installed walkpads at all the HVAC units for added durability. All the parapet walls, scuppers, curbs and penetrations were re-flashed and Sterigentics got a brand new roof. GAF Inspectors rated this roof system a perfect 10 on their visit, and we were able to give them a 20 year warranty.
I replaced the arm that was damaged from the recent crash. Fortunately these arms can be ordered separately. Jakub from quadrame.com has recently switched to using black GRP, which looks quite elegant!

A thing of beauty to a car nut, it's a shame that it will be hidden when installed. This is the Exedy twin-disk heavy duty clutch with vented, cerametallic pressure plate and matching flywheel; an ACT throw-out bearing and braided stainless steel clutch line. If I wanted, I could safely tune my ride to make 600 bhp knowing that this would hold it. The only problem is I will be penniless for a while.
