Ramel Hamilton has made an unusual choice for his "Replacement Bus Hire" fleet. One time Stagecoach London Mercedes Benz Citaro bendybus LX04 LCC retains Beaverbus colours from a recent spell in Leicester and was seen in a Sussex yard this morning, 28th May, 2022.
Some miscellaneous images of "Old" Wilson before replacement in the 2014-17 rebuild that transformed it into a modern station complex. It was an interesting old place to say the least, although well overdue for an upgrade. At left you can see the remains of the old freight siding that lay dormant here for decades. Taken in May 2001, looks like the rails had only recently been lifted.
Otto Container Management briefly handled all container related duties out here, and repaired carts rather than replacing them, as well as handed out used carts instead of new much of the time.

An empty Minorca with four EMDs meets three GEs on a Minntac load at Iron Junction. The long rumored replacement of older EMD units on ore trains is happening with CN electing to equip C40-8s with straight air.
It was as I began working on the image in post production that I then decided to once again try out the sky replacement setting in Photoshop with this image. The blue skies with the clouds definitely seemed appropriate for this national park setting that late morning. So the skies are from an image I captured out in west Texas a few years ago but all else is captured with my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless camera. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 7 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
Over to Basingstoke today (Sun 04/05/2025) for a look at the rail replacements heading to Andover, Reading, Winchester and Woking. Around 15 departures an hour and a 3 hour turn around meant 45 different vehicles were seen.

It was another weekend of Woking chaos in March 2022 with rail replacement buses dominating the scene outside the station once again. There were a nice variety of operators and vehicles who operated services out to Weybridge, Surbiton, Guildford and Basingstoke.
MX23LDL is seen at Ingatestone Station on Greater Anglia rail replacement. This is the smallest Mellor Sigma I've seen, let alone been on. You can normally find this bus out in Hertfordshire on an Ocado staff shuttle bus.

The Bank Holidays over Christmas 2021 saw a large rail replacement bus operation covering services between Farnborough, Woking, Weybridge, Aldershot, Guildford and Basingstoke. As a result, a large number of vehicles were out and about and I snapped a few in Farnborough, Guildford and Woking.

It is very unusual to have single deck buses on a double deck rail service. Due to a few late problems, two single deck buses were drafted in to cover. This shouldn't normally happen but this is better than having no bus! Willesden Junction DE1616 was used in the morning.

Functioning infrastructure seems to be slipping further and further down the list of priorities these days. Replacement is increasingly becoming the norm in a very often dysfunctional city. People try to adapt.

It was down the A3 to Portsmouth & Southsea Station for some rail replacement action today (14/02/2026) with services running 3 times per hour from Portsmouth Harbour to both Barnham (Southern) and Petersfield (SWR) and back again.
As with my last visit here, the variety of bus liveries seen today was excellent with around 12 operators noted in the 3 hours we were present. Top picks today were Compass Travel's pair of 75-plate ADL E400 MMCs; 4 coaches from the BM/Mercian/Linburg fleets; and further E400 MMCs from Brighton & Hove, Tomorrows Travel, Wheelers Travel and Xelabus.
Another good morning and this time in some very rare sunshine!!
Two former Norfolk Southern GP38-2s rest at the Buckingham Branch yard in Doswell, sandwiching a GP16. Recently acquired from NS, these engines floated around in patched black paint for a while before mercifully being repainted in company colors. Their noses were chopped along the way, and today these engines are standard BB road power.

I broke our glass baked goods dome yesterday and ruined the newly baked bread inside. I've been using some different methods lately but figured Jim Lahey's no knead was a great replacement. The loaves are always so pretty.

When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might end up being me
The thing is I honestly don't think taping myself to a tree in a forest and taking pictures is the weirdest thing I've ever done.
But ugh that song gets to me, man. Hits me right in the gut, it does. I mean, I think we all have this real intense fear of waking up one day only to realize there's a better version of you out there taking all the glory, if you will. At least I do, honestly. Like. Obviously there's not some robot Rachel wandering around being perfect, but you know. It's just one of those dumb unnecessary paranoia deals.
Anyways, thank you to everyone who's already entered the print giveaway!! You guys rock and I hope your Tuesdays have been rad :)

Among the highest capacity double deckers in the country are Nottingham City Transport's Scania Omnidekkas. Here 976 - YT59 OZS, an N270UD with H51/35F bodywork, works a tram replacement service from The Forest to Wilkinson Street when the NET system was partially closed for track repairs.
Okay, I admit it. I'm really set in my ways and I'm no longer a big fan of change. Time marches on, and all that, but in my opinion, this bench wreaks of commercialism compared with the beautiful, old decorated concrete bench that used to be here. I used to call that bench, "Tigger's Bench", since it was where I took my favorite shot of Tigger which I called, "How Could You Leave Me?" Tigger would often get on that bench and turn his back to me when he knew I was leaving, and when I'd talk to him, he'd whip his tail in disapproval, sulking the whole time! Eventually, he didn't leave me anymore, as I adopted him and took him home to live with me, but when HE left me for good, I had the photo framed to always remember my Tigger.
No matter WHAT bench they put in its place, I would never have liked it. It does show that there are people in our community who are committed to keeping this park beautiful, though, and a friend of mine from high school, Ann Pinitiliano is named on this bench as one of them. I guess you can't give credit where credit is due on a concrete bench. At least this one won't be missed as much when it is replaced by another.
The original bench is in the first comment below.

I liked the idea of having a man as a scarecrow as in the tute, but I wanted the story to show how he got there...the real scarecrow having escaped his fate and gained his freedom by finding a human replacement....
Constructive criticism most gratefully received.

After running around their train at Upper Sandusky, Parsons based local H792 is heading for home with stops at Morral and Marion on the way back. As of now, no signs of signal replacement west (compass north) of Marion toward Fostoria. I like the GP30 car body, but for the purist the A/C units leave something to be desired.
