The Station car park at Slough in use as a temporary coach station on Wednesday 27th December. Seen loading are coaches on Great Western Railway replacement services to Ealing Broadway and Hillingdon.
Christmas engineering work saw the Great Western Main Line closed completely between London Paddington and Slough on Sunday 24th and Wednesday 27th December. A limited local train service operated between Slough and Reading. whilst a few main line services were rerouted into London Marylebone or were curtailed at Reading instead.
A half-hourly coach service operated non-stop between Slough and Hillingdon, to connect with the Metropolitan Line to and from Central London. A half-hourly coach service also operated between Slough and Ealing Broadway, calling at Langley, West Drayton, Hayes & Harlington and Southall. Coaches also ran to and from Maidenhead, calling at Burnham and Taplow as trains were unable to call at these stations; this was advertised as a separate service but in practice was linked with the Ealing Broadway service. Additional buses ran between Hayes and Ealing and rail tickets were also accepted on local buses in the London area.
Picked up a replacement receiver cover for my SKS with a 3-way Picatinny rail system on it, upon which I mounted Tasco Pro-Point red dot sight that came with my pre-owned Ruger 10/22. Note the case deflector forward of the scope, to keep the scope from getting knocked by the ejected shell casing, forcing them sideways instead. I have no idea how the sight will hold up, since it's mostly intended for rimfire, but reports say they're tough. Oh well, we'll see!
My hope, since I lucked out and got one of the higher-quality SKS rifles, is that I can get it shooting accurately enough to be decent 'brush gun' for hunting black-tail deer over on the island. 7.62x39mm is ballistically very close to 30-30, after all. I can practice with surplus ammunition, then feed it nice JSP hunting ammunition in the fall for even better accuracy.

No sooner had the DLR been finished than they were having to rebuild it to increase capacity, since it had been constructed on the cheap. Even in 1989 the use of Routemasters was a rarity. I suspect this was a Sunday when they would otherwise have been sitting idle. This is North Greenwich with the DLR behind on the viaduct and bridge - now abandoned.

I had time to run via High street this afternoon and caught up with another few coaches,including this lovely Scania of Gwyn Jones.
I recently decided to convert my Koi watercolors to hold artist's colors as I did with the larger Cotman kit about a year ago. The Koi kit is truly tiny, and can hold two tiny waterbrushes, which makes it very convenient -- though the tiny waterbrushes are certainly not my preferred way of applying paint.

Stagecoach South buses on rail replacement work at Worcester Park Station Friday 25th August. Alexander-Dennis ALX400-bodied Trident 18514 departs on an all-stations to Chessington South service.
The lengthening of the suburban platforms at Waterloo caused many of its platforms to be closed during August, and from Saturday 5th to Holiday Monday 28th a considerably reduced service was operated. The Chessington South service was withdrawn completely, with rail replacement buses operating to and from Worcester Park to connect with train services on the Epsom route. Some buses also ran non-stop from Worcester Park to Chessington World of Adventures for the convenience of Summer Holiday visitors to the Theme Park (normally it would be a ten-minute walk from Chessington South).
With nothing better to do, I headed over to Woking to see what was on rail replacement today (Sat 28/12/2024). New operator Chaseside turned up with one their smart-liveried E400 deckers, Fairmanns Travel had their recently repainted Dart/Pointer out, TK Travel showed off their recent rebrand livery, and a cheerful yellow decker of Chilternbus brightened up a rather dull day. Oh, and a bonus on the short walk to Spoons for a much needed coffee - a Safeguard Tempo!! Not a bad day in the end.
