A hugely similar photo to the last upload, however this time with the added bonus of mist rising from Stowe Pool to create a bit more atmosphere. One of the problems, I think, which has resulted in my not taking many photographs over the last couple of years has been a degree of disinterest in sitting on a computer editing photos, but also misunderstanding what it was that I wanted from my photography.
Yes, it is nice having likes and whatnot for posting things online, but that was never the primary point of my photography; historically it provided me with an outlet to explore and focus on looking at things that caught my eye and, to me, made for something interesting. In a sense, I suppose, photography was my ‘mindfulness’ before it became a corporate buzzword. By focussing on the technical aspects, as well as the social media side of things, I probably got lost somewhere along the way with what it was I was trying to achieve by heading out with a camera; exploration with solitude. Walking around with a camera made me feel less like I was sticking out for slowly meandering, and even if only a small point and shoot it provided some sense of justification for the flaneur approach.
Mobile phone photography is not quite the same, for me. The ergonomics are all wrong, the focal length is just too wide and, although it’s not and shouldn’t be all about the quality, ultimately the quality is just lacking. Still, on a morning walk to the station when I convinced myself I couldn’t be bothered to pack even a mirrorless camera, it serves a purpose.

1963 1/2 Galaxie 427, at the Meltdown Drags, Byron, Illinois, 2014. This old girl is still wicked - fast! The original 427 has been replaced with a 385 Series Ford big block (429 or 460).
