The Augsburg Town Hall was erected from 1615 to 1624 in Rennaissance style and is one of the main landmarks of the city.

Until 1917 it was the tallest building in Germany (this excludes towers).

This beautiful place was built in 1922 and is a mix of styles including Baroque, Art Deco, Spanish Rennaissance, and Greco-Roman. There are 2501 seats or 2560 if they use the pit for seating.

Built on par with theaters in much larger cities, the Palace Theater was the location for vaudeville, movies and dancing

Archaeological findings have shown that Sárospatak area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The town itself became a royal property in the 11th century. The construction of the castle began in the 16th century by Péter Perényi, who acquired the area past the battle of Mohács. Besides the walls, the five-storey keep of the castle was also built then by Italian master builder Alessandro Vedani in late-Rennaissance style.

Past the extinction of Perényis, the castle changed hands more times until 1616, when it passed into the hands of György Rákóczi (Prince of Transylvania from 1630) by marriage (with Zsuzsanna Lorántffy). In the 1640s, considerable extension works began and the famous Lorántffy wing and loggia were constructed. The castle served as the headquarters for kuruc activities during Rákóczi’s War of Independence and the Diet of 1708 was held here too. After the war the castle was confiscated by the Habsburgs and acquired by Prince Trautson and then Prince Bretzenheim. Constructions in this period added Baroque, Romantic and eclectic elements to the design. After WW2 the castle was nationalized.

Schloss Hämelschenburg is a moated castle in Emmerthal, which is in the Weser Uplands (Weserbergland) and a main example of the architectural style called "Weser Rennaissance"

It was closed due to winter (and Covid19) but there was a signposted tour with loads of QR-Codes to get some information and you could walk around the grounds.

The Gatehouse is part of the rennaissance Château of Cénevières and is located in the Lot (Occitanie region) in the heart of the Causses du Quercy Regional National Park. Classified as a historic monument, still furnished and inhabited, it is one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in the Lot valley.

The Franciscan monastery was built after 1301 in the middle of densely populated old city core. Church and monastery stand closely packed along a narrow lane and a higher plateau. Both buildings were in the 17th Century, rebuilt in the Baroque style. The most famous part of the monastery is the cloister, in the 18th Century was completed. The courtyard is surrounded with Renaissance arcades with arched vaults. Today, the monastery belongs to the Order of Friars Minor.

Come on down today.

L'viv's Opera House, which sits at the north end of L'viv's central Freedom Avenue (Проспект Свободи), in western Ukraine.

Properly the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the opera house is named after a famous early 20th century sopranoist born in the city. Prior to 2000 it was the Ivan Franko Lviv State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, named for famous 19th century socialist and nationalist local poet Ivan Franko. The opera house's Viennese neo-Rennaissance style was designed by Polish architect Zygmunt Gorgolewski, and built between 1897-1900, when L'viv was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, utilising the first reinforced concrete foundation in all Europe. The design uses corninthian columns, arches, niches, and the pediment bears the statues of the muses of Glory, Poetry and Music.

Albrecht Dürer

(1471-1528, Nürnberg)

Detail from a study for the hands of St Dominic (1506)

Seen in Vienna's Albertina Gallery at the exhibition "Leonardo, Dürer, Masters of the Rennaissance - Drawings on Coloured Ground". ("Leonardo, Dürer - Meisterzeichnungen der Renaissance auf farbigem Grund ")

I visited the exhibition twice, once with the Pentax K-1 and the second time with the K-3iii Monochrome. The drawings on display were all examples of a technique known as "chiaroscuro", which simply means "light/dark". Amazing effects of light and shade are achieved using only white and black on a coloured middle ground. I thought it might be a good challenge to take photos with the monochrome camera, slightly adjusting the contrast curve to bring up the effect. I hope you like the result! I think it reproduces the three-dimensional quality achieved by these great masters.

A marble sculpture by rennaissance master -- Michelangelo Buonarroti (better known as Michelangelo). Michelangelo started on this piece at age 23. This sculpture has had thousands of replicas and images all over the world. And with this photo -- you're looking at a snapshot of the original one. The Pieta by Michelangelo, dated 1499.

Capella della Pietà

Basilica di San Pietro

The Biltmore House was built by railroad magnate George Vanderbilt. Constructiion began in 1889 and the home was completed in 1895. The home is inspired by the French Rennaissance Chateaus and epitomizes the high living of the Gilded Age. Richard Morris Hunt was the lead architect with Frederic Law Olmstead designing the grounds. It is the largest single family home in the United States. Today it functions as a museam and Asheville's leading tourist destination.

This image was made circa 2000 with a Sinar F and 90mm Schneider lens after the attraction closed for the evening. This is why there are no people in the analog image.

He was one the most widely travelled emperors of his time. He had been all over Europe, North, Central and South America, Egypt, China, Japan, Siam, Java and the Straits settlement.

The architecture and decor is very, very similar to that of Italy's famous buildings, rennaissance architecture- very different to other palaces. incoperates the work of Michealanglo. Gold inlay.

Apart from the fact that this church needs a bit of a 'touch up', I find it very interesting. It contains a very unorthodox mixture of architectural elements - Gothic, Rennaissance, Baroque and Cape Architecture!

Stores and Homes sit along Rua Cruzeiro at the west endof Praça Dotuor Souza Junior in Angra de Heroísmo, Terceira, Azores, Portugal. This city streets and most of most buildings date back to the late 15h and 18th century when the city grew in wealth and stature a a stopover point for maritime vessels making Alantic crossings. I was a base for repairs, resupply and rest for weary saliors. It became more isolated from eroupe as shipping routes sghifted to other island port in the 19th century which allowed may the structures and strret of Rennaissance design as well as culturally significant sites to be preserved. Because of this Angra de Herismo has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site

The lion has been a symbol of L'viv ever since it was founded in the 13th century by King Danylo (Daniel), and named for his heir, Lev (Leo) I of Galicia. L'viv's old city is now bedecked by such statues, and is sometimes referred to as the City of Lions.
