It's a scorcher out there today! We're beating the heat by cooking up a rack of chinese spareribs in the slow cooker, drinking lemonade from scratch, and mostly staying in air conditioning. We took a short walk in the 'hood to play with some TTV.

These were some of the photos that I took after I bought my first Digital Camera a Canon EOS REBEL I took these photos in an Industrial Park in Green Cove Springs Florida. At the time the CSX Railroad had just purchased several Shoving Platforms (aka Remote Control Caboose Replacement).
The units were used to control switching Locomotives on Local Trains (especially during back-up moves) where a crew member could stand at the control panel on the (Flat Car) and control the Locomotive remotely by Radio; you can see the Antenna along with Horns and Flashing Lights at the Top of the Control Console in Photo #2 of 4. Of course today most railroads use a Fanny Pack Control Console that a Switchman wears at his beltline to control the Remote Control Locomotives especially within Rail Yards. I believe these Shoving Platforms were assembled by a Railcar Repair Facility in the Reynolds Industrial Park in Green Cove Springs, Florida because there were several units in various stages of assembly, at the time I took my photos.
A real big boys toy - and I got a go.
Normally the crane is controlled by an operator in the cabin above - eventually this crane will be remotely controlled by an operator in a building about 1/2 kilometer away.
I've been sitting on the sofa all afternoon doing nothing much😳
The one in my left hand only turns the tv on now; the one in my right hand does all the channel selection etc.
I spent ALL day today packing up and readying for the move. by about 4pm I was so exhausted I collapsed onto a small patch of space on the couch and dozed off.
I'll have to clean off the couch more, because I'm sleeping there tonight. This morning, I took my bed apart so that I could use the bedroom to stack all the boxes as I pack them. The bookcase is pretty much all done; next up is the kitchen. Then it's clothing and piffle--which will surely take up a ton of boxes, though.
Yarn is going in each box as packing padding. Someone remind me of this when I go to cut the boxes open!!
I stupidly tried to pry a lid off with a butter knife. It slipped and really gouged my index finger. There was a lot of blood and I don't even want to know how deep it goes. Waaaahhh!!!!!!!
How to decide? There are too many yummy baked leftovers from the party. (And I have always been a believer in sweets for breakfast; in fact, back in Philly the ex and I would sometimes look at each other and say "we need some breakfast food in the house for the coming week; let's make some brownies.")
Oh, and for my 365, knitters and crafters buds: it's pretty pathetic, but this is my bed head. long straight hair just doesn't really do anything at night.
A remote controlled model stunt plane being put through its paces in between aircraft at The Cold War Jet Show, Bruntingthorpe.
Just a small selection of the many remote controls we use at home let alone all the redundant ones gathering dust in various drawers.
I just do not want to think about ancient mobile phones!!!
CD's even hundreds of 45 rpm discs, LP's by the score.
I was flying the remote control plane while a friend shot this picture. I like how it looks with the mountain as a backdrop. It could be a scene from the 1940's. The plane is a "Waco" and it flies well.
Sometimes what was unthinkable yesterday is tomorrow’s reality. So now it is time to consider a roadmap to unmanned vessels of various types.
I couldn't believe it when the editor in chief told me that my hat had been picked for the cover. It was even in contention?! www.pepperknit.com/2014/07/cover-girl/
