We have not had any snow this season (at least by me), and it does not look like we will get it any time soon.

Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 26/04/2025 -- Bubbles .

You will have to do with just the two bubbles for the challenge , there was a spirit bubble on the tripod but is always hidden once a camera is mounted .

Anyway , here is a neat little level that fits into the flash hotshoe on top of the camera . With it in this configuration you can check that the camera is not tilting to one side or the other and that you are taking a shot with a level view . Of course if it is wonky horizons you are worried about then most cameras will have a built in indicator available to activate on the rear screen or in the viewfinder !!

Worth it one way or another , nothing so annoying as to see an image that is tilted when it should be straight ( Dutch Angles excepted ) !!

A good friend from a photo site back in the day who was a brilliant photographer always said about how wonky horizons were bad photography which could be easily fixed with post processing being one of the quickest and easiest fixes going - something I have never forgotten D.J. !!

Well a bubble challenge sorted and for a tune to go with it , I wonder how many of you will remember this ----

“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.” ~ Yoko Ono

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. ~Albert Camus

I thought I would dig thru the archives a bit….I was trying to remember what summer felt like!

Que porqué la primera vez es la mejor? Porqué es la que se recuerda.... Quien lo sabe....

Esta es mi primera Via Láctea y aún recuerdo el día.

We've hit the late autumn "gray" in Michigan, so that leads me to looking back at brighter days, like this one at Dow Gardens in Midland, MI, summer, 2024. I miss the greater prevalence of butterflies and hope those days return, too.

i found this picture left on my PC and remember the first try with abandoneds, since my childhood locations like this are fascinating for me

I like that once summer is over, I'll have all these pictures to remember it by when I'm cold and the winter darkness seems to last forever. It's important to always have hope for the next spring and summer. :)

Remember a Day

(© Wright/Pink Floyd)

Remember a day before today

A day when you were young.

Free to play alone with time

Evening never came.

Sing a song that can't be sung

Without the morning's kiss

Queen - you shall be it if you wish

Look for your king

Why can't we play today

Why can't we stay that way

Climb your favorite apple tree

Try to catch the sun

Hide from your little brother's gun

Dream yourself away

Why can't we reach the sun

Why can't we blow the years away

Blow away

Blow away

We all have pictures of ourselves in our head how we like to be remembered. Somewhat morbid in a way because we are still alive at this moment (at least if you are reading this). But just sometimes it's alright to remember there comes a time for all of us that we only live on in memories.

This is my image of how I like to be remembered, don't ask me why.

If I tell you my favorite color

And not be able to see it

Will you describe it to me

And always remember

If you hear the word I use the most

And I become forgetful

Will you speak it

And always remember

If I kiss you

And distance comes between us

Will you kiss me back

And always remember

If I don’t know the answer

And my mind reaches its limit

Will you help me find it

And always remember

If I am lost in this world

And can’t find my way

Will you get lost with me

And always remember

… my love.

Despite the fact it is a state requirement to wear a mask people still need to be reminded.

Elsewhere more signs are popping up outside of stores saying "No Mask No Service"

I remember to wear mine and I like to remember when we didn't have to. If it helps slow the spread I really am happy to wear a mask.

#60/120 I Remember: 120 Pictures in 2020

Two years on 26th February, today, we lost one of our best four legged friends, Mili.

From 9 weeks until Twelve years, she was a beautiful, loving lady.

With the nicest temperament ever, extremly missed every day.

Sister to Kassy and Cali.

A few photos of her today 💔

Always remember, a cat looks down on man, a dog looks up to man, but a pig will look man right in the eye and see his equal.

In the Garden, relaxing on garden balcony, walking down the lane, and on the beach.

12 very happy years of unconditional love, fun, happiness, she loved her life.

She loved her balls, and had two favourite squeaky toys, a duck and pheasant.

Never ever saw a snarl or heard a growl when approached by all dogs, just kisses, licks and sniffs !!!!

Never forget. Have a great day.

e - mi vergogno a dirlo -

perfino da un pappagallo.

Imparò dalle rane a gracidare,

dal bove a muggire,

dall'asino a ragliare,

dal topo a squittire,

dalla pecora a fare « bè bè »,

dalle galline a fare coccodè.

Imparò tante cose,

però non era affatto soddisfatto

e sempre si domandava

(magari con un « qua qua »...):

- Che cos'è che non va?

Qualcuno gli risponda, se lo sa.

Forse era matto?

O forse non sapeva

scegliere il maestro adatto?

(Gianni Rodari)

NOI IL MAESTRO GIUSTO LO ABBIAMO AVUTO...

DI FOTO; MA ANCHE DI VITA....

grazie GIGI...

As we move away from those summer days in Australia, we're still experiencing a lovely Indian Summer in Melbourne with very warm Autumn days.

“He who would pass his declining years with honor and comfort, should, when young, consider that he may one day become old, and remember when he is old, that he has once been young.”

Joseph Addison

I thought this blend of 2 images would make a good upload for Remembrance Sunday and the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day. The base image is my shot of the Bury Hill Poppy Field at dawn taken on 13th June. Layered on this is an image taken at Arundel Cathedral in August. This was part of “There but not there” a nationwide event lasting to today in commemoration of the end of the 1st World War. The usual figures are of a 6ft tall transparent silhouette outlined in black which stand with their head bowed, rifle in hand, and with a poppy on the chest. Another version is of a seated silhouette with no outline.

The images were blended with a mix of layer opacity and a layer mask using a brush at differing opacity

"Life changes as we're having dinner."

It's an expression I've heard over the years

and eventually understood it by experiencing it.

It's shocking the first time it happens. We somehow adjust.

And then, again, our lives change. We adjust over and over.

And now we have a pandemic, Covid-19, and this, too, shall pass. And we will hopefully return to what will be our new normal . Maybe we'll be a bit softer, not so angry,

not so opinionated in our political beliefs,

not so hateful with our words.

Maybe, just maybe, we won't take our everyday comforts for granted.

Hopefully we'll come to see a dawning of a new world,

one where harmony and good will towards those who hold different beliefs will reign...

and let it begin with me.

Hallelujah!
