The Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague dates back to 1439. It is located in the Jewish quarter. Very crowded- it has 12 layers of graves. Lots of history here. Unfortunately it was Saturday when I was there and it was closed. Hence this photo through the gate.

Uncle George. Another photo taken from the full page of collaged duplicates. He's maybe 6 or 7 years old in this shot, unless the shirt was worn for several years...
Not for resale or use in digital or print collage sheets
Daily Shoot Illustrate the word free today. Go with the first thing that pops into your head and make a photograph based on that idea.
Rememberance Sunday and "free" seemed an obvious match.
November does not remind us only of Halloween but also Rememberance Day or Poppy Day as it is mostly known. This day is a Commonwealth holiday to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War.

Chiefs captain creates scholarship in honour of Grant Sheridan
Myles Mattila is wearing the ‘C’ as the leader of the Kelowna Chiefs this year.
Off the ice, he’s been an exemplary leader in many facets of life for some time and he’s back at it again with a newly-created scholarship.
The Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship honours Grant Sheridan, the former owner of the Chiefs who passed away this summer, and it’ll be available to all KIJHL players.

It’s been created through the MindRight for Athletes Society, another creation of Mattila, and will recognize a player for their hockey commitment, community involvement and academic achievement.
The scholarship will be initiated during the Chiefs’ home opener at Rutland Arena on Friday night and more details about it will become available as the season goes on.
“It is with heavy hearts the Kelowna Chiefs will be playing our home opener in memory of Grant. There will not be a dry eye in the house,” says Mattila.
“Grant was a very special person who will be dearly missed by all. Grant and I had very similar fundamental beliefs in the core values of hockey, education, and community involvement, which included mental health.”
Sheridan presented Mattila with the team’s Scholastic Player of the Year award after the 2017-18 season.

Sunday 8th November 2009 (Rememberance Sunday 2009)
Paul and I attended the Rememberance Day commemoration and parade in Manchester City Centre.
It took place at the war memorial and cenotaph and was well attended by the general public, as well as representatives from the present armed forces, cadet forces, and vetrans from conflicts which took place since WW1.
The red poppy is a symbol of Rememberance here in the UK.
The ceremony was very moving, particularly when the Last Post was played. I always think of my grandparents, who were all lucky to survive WW2, but who had to make many sacrifices in order that I can live in the world I live in today.
Perhaps most alarming and moving was the number of my generation who had lost their lives in more recent conflicts.

Remembering,Humbled, and Marked are all paintings on how lifetime experiences (good or bad) can leave marks. For people, our experiences can leave spiritual growth rings, emotional trauma, or change us physically.
This is the shirt I wore while watching the September 12, 2009 football game where the University of Washington Huskies ended their all time record losing streak by beating the University of Idaho Vandals 42-23. The "former player honoree" for this game was Marques Tuiasosopo. It is interesting that I unkowningly chose the shirt from Marques Tuiasosopo's MVP performance in a Rose Bowl victory. I almost wore the 'Woof" shirt.
From Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_Rose_Bowl
The 2001 Rose Bowl was a college football bowl game played on January 1, 2001. It was the 87th Rose Bowl game. The University of Washington Huskies football team defeated the Purdue University Boilermakers football team 34-24. Washington senior quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo was named the Rose Bowl Player Of The Game.[1]
Washington, led by senior quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo, the Rose Bowl MVP, finished the season at 11-1 and was ranked third in the final national polls. Rick Neuheisel became the only former Rose Bowl MVP to coach a Rose Bowl winning team.
Oregon State and Oregon both won their bowl games, and the final rankings were Washington 3rd, Oregon State 4th, and Oregon 7th in the final AP poll. Oklahoma, who was undefeated and beat Florida State in the 2001 Orange Bowl, was named the national champion.
