Remember when going for a Sunday drive was a thing? 😊
"Remember" Interpretation shot for Toy Sunday group.
Going for a Sunday drive I think began in the 1920's and 1930's. It was a fun thing to do on a Sunday afternoon...just to go for a leisure drive in no rush and with no destination. Ahh, the good old days.
Happy Sunday!
Now that the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder, I would like to use my Monday flower greeting to return to the beginning of the year.
Let us remember when the first flowers appeared in the brown of last year's autumn leaves, when the birds singing greeted us again in the morning and we finally felt the warming sun on our skin.
At this point, this little beauty here, the forget-me-not, was also in full bloom.
And so I wish you many beautiful memories for this week (and not just for this week) and the constant certainty that such moments will keep coming. Especially in times when it seems a little darker and colder.

remembering the Poppies.
Tue, 11 Nov 2025
Poppy Day is on November 11th because this is Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of World War I. An armistice was signed on that day in 1918, which stopped the fighting at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The day is a tribute to all those who have died in service since then, with the poppy becoming a symbol of remembrance due to the flowers that grew on the battlefields of WW1.

Remember
In an instance we remember. a smell, song, taste, sound, word.
Our eyes can't hide it. The sadness of those who have passed. You may be gone but never forgotten. Memories locked up tight in the mind like unearthly treasures. We miss you and look back upon you fondly. Thoughts make one smile and laugh. The eyes can't hide the sadness of loss. The memories bring smiles and comfort. We miss you but will never forget you.
As time marches on, memories of the walk in the waters of Utah's Virgin River fade. Refreshing my thoughts - a return to our archives and a re-edit of a special bracket set proved rewarding - adding new touches where skills lacked last time.. It was five years ago, on Tuesday September 15, that we lost her. She was a beauty and so smart and loving. We miss her always.

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason,
should ever be forgot.
Now, if you will excuse me, I will get back to watching V for Vendetta because I cannot think of a better film to watch on Bonfire Night.

Say goodbye
Not knowing when
The truth in my whole life began
Say goodbye
Not knowing how to cry
You taught me that
And I'll remember
The strength that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember
The way that you saved me
I'll remember
Inside I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing
Outside I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing
A place belongs forever to whoever claims it hardest, remembers it most obsessively, wrenches it from itself, shapes it, renders it, loves it so radically that he remakes it in his own image.

I remember playing marbles a lot as a kid. Potsie, playing for keepsies. :) I was pretty good too, hehe. These are the things kids don't really do anymore. Unfortunately, their little noses are stuck in cell phones and i-Pads. It is a shame, because playing marbles was something I always recall enjoying. :)
Workers via the Works Progress Administration (WPA) built these structures in Richfield County Park, the first county park in Genesee County at the time, beginning in 1938. They are still standing and going strong. They attract light-chasers for many events, especially senior high school pictures and weddings. I like taking them in b/w, an ode to their time and a way to remember the efforts of the WPA workers and especially like the early and late day light that casts shadows on the river and structures.

Once upon a time the U.S. Senate was rightfully known as the "world's greatest deliberative body." Its members served our country with courage and honor and commitment to the principles enshrined in our Constitution. They were patriots. They had character we could always count on. That was then. Remember when.....if you can.

Remembering January 6, 2021 and the memory of those lost and those still impacted by the events of that day. Sadly, I'm getting too practiced in this photo from my own yard.
Enigmatic mystery in the shape of a girl
The shape of the world
Held in your hands, mouth pressed to the forehead
Of the future, the history of you before you knew
She exists, just another piece to fit
In the mosaic of your life, a mirror held to your eyes
Showing you, there's a reason for everything she'll do
Created out of unused space for you, where there might've been a star
A flower blooms, the seeds blown on the wind, intended
To bury her roots deep within you, to prove
You're important, and needed for the universe to breathe
She is your answer, for the question you didn't know you would end up asking.

The war memorial at Freshwater West, Pembrokeshire. The Celtic Cross was put in place to remember those from the local area who had died or gone missing during WW1. It will soon be time across the UK to remember those who gave their lives in conflicts across the globe. Be sure to spare a minute..
I noticed today it is nine months since I posted a picture of my favourite boat. How time flies. This was from may 2019 when I spent a few days in the Scottish Highlands.
Last May (2019) I spent some time in the Scottish Highlands which meant I had to go and see my favourite boat; the MV Dayspring.
Here she is shot in sunny weather with Ben Nevis in the background. She has been in this position since she foundered during a bad storm on December 8th 2011 on the shore near Corpach in the Scottish Highlands. The tide has never been high enough since to re-float the boat so she remains here stuck on land rotting away. She is still privately owned.
You all know how I love to photograph this boat. It is a sad but beautiful sight to me. I have become very attached to this boat. To me it has become part of the landscape here.
Here is some of her history
