In the 1950's, the Peoria & Eastern relocated about 1.5 miles of track to accomodate a new customer. The result was this cut going under Indiana highway 63. Here, the Vermilion Valley totes 10 empty hoppers east on the relocated segment.
This was a surprise to see today, while out at the Pumpkin Patch at Impossible Acres Farm. This is the Tank House, that used to be at the Hunt Boyer Mansion downtown, but was moved, and then vanished completely, presumed dismantled. Well, it wasn't - it was sold to this farm (for just $11), who had to cut it in half to move it, and are planning to restore it and use it as a proper historic tankhouse. Very nice.
I drew it previously (see: www.flickr.com/photos/petescully/4651356243), when it had forst been moved to make way fro the new Mishka's cafe, but when it was moved again I thought it was gone. Apparently not!
Residents residing on All Hallowes Road as well as those seeking adventure down the Fraser River can now access the road more safely thanks the addition of a left turning lane.
To make the area more accessible the west side of Highway 1 was widened and six utility poles were relocated. Also, along Highway 1, the west side of the slope had to be excavated and re-stabilized to accommodate these changes.
These adjustments have improved the sight distance and sight angle for drivers and have also provided additional shouldering that will allow vehicles to pull off of Highway 1 sooner before turning onto All Hallowes Road.

The station building was moved across the river, where it remains today. The goods shed was demolished.
there were times we could get out of the car and move very close before they would fly...other times the only shots would be from the car before they left to relocate

1870 - The original square wooden light (lighthouse) was built 370 Metres south of Casuarina Point - (Site of present day Marlston Hill Rotary Lookout Tower.)
1903 - A 9m steel-structured lighthouse was built, 37m above sea level. Light visible for 17 miles (27km)
1959 - The Lighthouse (Marlston Hill site) height is extended by 20 feet (6m) due to poor visibility by ships. Surrounding development in the Port area made discernment of the light almost impossible.
1971 - The original head was placed on a new Lighthouse structure located closer to the ocean beach (Casuarina Point).
It was painted in a quite distinct black and white chequered pattern. Total height of structure: 27.43m
2000 - Bicentenial Marlston Hill Rotary Lookout Tower, built at a cost of $150,000, opened on the site of original Bunbury lighthouse site.

That accumulator is really awesome. Jeff is going to help me make motor mounts at some point so that I can mount the pump properly.

Among the Society's collection here at the Car Haulaways site are Wellington trolleybuses 90, 39 and Volvo 233.
Buses were moved from the Society's former home at the Karori Depot after Go Wellington informed the Society that they wanted to use the facility as a service centre.
As reported in the the November 2012 issue of Tramway Topics, the Omnibus Society is exploring the concept of establishing a site at Queen Elizabeth Park as part of the heritage precinct that has been approved by the Greater Wellington Regional Council at the Mackay's Crossing entrance to the Park, which besides being of the current site of the Wellington Tramway Museum, will also feature a Printing Museum.
As of July 2014 however, the Omnibus Society has had to vacate the CH site - required for construction work on the Transmission Gully road project - and moved some of its vehicles to Otaki and Woodville.
Food Lion #1 (53,720 square feet)
123 Mahaley Avenue, Salisbury, NC
Opened August 31st, 1991, renovated in spring 2016; originally Gibson's Discount Center (1974-1977), later Kmart (closed/relocated November 8th, 1990)
Food Lion store number one! Though technically the building itself isn't where the store originated at, it's only a stone's throw away from the original building that True Value Hardware currently occupies so I guess it's close enough to hold the "first location" distinction. It seems like Food Lion had considered this to be a flagship store, which is evident given the size of the building; in 1991 their average size was about 30,000 square feet, and even going into the 2000s most new locations were between 35,000-45,000 square feet. Despite that, the salesfloor didn't feel especially gargantuan to me, and was comparable to one of those 2000s locations such as Poquoson, but it definitely is quite spacious. It's also interesting that this significant location doesn't feature Food Lion's latest iteration of the Easy Fresh Affordable décor package (white walls with a blue stripe that they've been using since 2017) and instead has the EFA "Whitney" look that most other North Carolina locations received in 2016. The store isn't too unusual in comparison to other locations in the region, but I still really enjoyed my visit here, especially just seeing all the bells-and-whistles like the walk-in beer cooler and Claire's products being sold up front!
The swarming honeybees have kept me very busy this spring. As the first night falls on the new colony most of the bees will move inside and begin the task of building comb. Just before darkness sets in I climb a 12' ladder, temporarily close off the entrance, slide the box onto my shoulder and carry it down to the apiary, otherwise known as my backyard. Moving them as soon as possible will prevent the foragers from learning this location as their new home. On the first morning after a swarm has moved house the foragers will begin orientation flights and use their built in GPS system to quickly learn how to navigate to and from their new location.

It’s been a few months since I posted a photo of my workspace at the time of my relocation from Communication to the Service Center which showed my desk in a still-being-set-up state. Last week I finally finished making the new location my own space by getting my framed art and diploma on the surrounding walls (thanks for the help, Miguel).
