Opened in 1993, Sovereign Harbour is a development of the beachland in the seaside resort of Eastbourne, to the east of the town centre. Formerly known as The Crumbles, the marina now consists of four separate harbours, a retail park and several housing projects with both permanent and holiday properties. The marina was originally run by its developer, Carillion, until 2007 when it was bought by the Premier Marinas group, who also run several other marinas along the South Coast including Brighton, Chichester and Port Solent, among others.

The tidal Outer Harbour is only used for entrance to the marina through twin sea locks, which are operated 24 hours a day. It needs frequent dredging to keep the access channel from the sea to the locks open and deep enough for vessels. The local RNLI lifeboat has its own mooring there.

All the harbours (Inner, South, West and North) are artificial and were dredged one after the other. Behind the locks is the main marina called Inner Harbour. This is the central body of water and was the first harbour in use. It contains berths for both visiting and resident berth holders, as well as provides access to the other three harbours via lifting bridges. The other three are used mostly by resident berth holders as well as the local fishing vessels.

The North Harbour is the latest development, and this body of water is larger than the initial Inner Harbour. The two remaining harbours West and South are much smaller and in use by local residents owning a house/apartment around these waters.

A large boat lift now uses a corner in the North Harbour, near the local chandlery and winter storage for yachts. The locks - for access to and from the sea - and all lifting bridges are operated from the Harbour office building located next to the locks. The office is manned around the clock - all days of the year. The keep listening watch is on VHF channel 17 (and not channel 80 as most marinas in the UK). Apart from operating the locks and bridges the office is also used as information centre for visiting yachts: the staff will provide visiting yachts their berth and collect the harbour fees. Directly adjacent to the locks (and the office) is a fuel pontoon where self-service pumps for diesel and petrol can be found. There is also an amenities building which provides toilets, showers and laundry facilities to visiting and resident berth holders. Visiting yachts can contact the harbour master via VHF before arrival to obtain information about tides, depths of the dredged channel and other relevant information.

Residential properties are about evenly split between the North and South harbours, with the Waterfront (restaurants, bars, and shops) laying between them.

In the last decade of the 20th century Sovereign Harbour was clearly a project in progress but now it starts to be a more-or-less completed project: the local yacht club has a permanent housing, there is a 'waterfront' with shops and restaurants and most large-scale building activities are completed. During the earlier years the marina was more a building site then a leisure location.

Rimbaud is still relevant now that we are living a season in hell in a civilization that is moving towards a new world order: this communitarianism is already the basis of hundreds of new global rules and regulations that eliminate individual rights because this policy considers that individual rights and freedoms constitute a real threat to the security of the community; the messianic propaganda used reminds us of the dark days of Nazism or Communism. History has taught us nothing: we can see the commemorations of the Holocaust almost daily while today there is a proliferation of chemical (gas chamber technology) and energy weapons on an individual scale. : it is contemporary torture for those who are suspected of not thinking correctly. “Safe City” technology monitors everyone from the moment they leave their door until the moment they return, and they enter your home to place microphones and micro cameras there under the pretext that you are in contact with a person. “suspect” of terrorism. According to Hannah Arendt, preparation for totalitarianism has been successful when people have lost touch with their fellow human beings as well as the reality around them: think about it!

Contemporary notions of Auschwitz - As painter & poet I work since 20 years on the contemporary evolution of the Western World into a new hardlined totalitarianism - what's happening today is what I expected, I saw a climax coming without having a precize date or a mean(virus, but I thought about that possibility in 2014 with the painting 'Virus Attack'. Dutch Jewish author Croiset says that Nazism has never stopped and I agree with that, based on my experiences(°1954). I wrote some poetry about the Holocaust (Auschwitz, Shoa, Stalag Zehn B, Mauthausen 186, Red River, Papirac)

but also about totalitarianism( Shut Up, For Peace)

Other paintings are Holocaust, The banality of evil, Zyklon B, Mauthausen 186, Stones of Remembrance, Conformity, Submission, Warning, Dein Kampf and more about totalitarianism e.g. Neostasi, Zersetzung, la culture de l'impuissance, the positive zeroes

Another relevant rail work of this summer time is affecting Genoa and the juction towards the "Ponente line" towards the French border.

This is causing the diversion of several freight trains coming from Ventimiglia and Savona via San Giuseppe di Cairo - Acqui Terme - Alessandria, a local itinerary that does not see any freight train normally.

This was also the last part of the Italian network to adopt the initial three-phase power and the peculiar electric poles are still present in some parts.

In this picture, an early morning Metrocargo train from Miramas to Basiliano is running northbound near Cassine pulled by a double traction made up by Inrail E191.001 and E191.104.

I find the following words particularly relevant to my current situation regarding my home & the small community I live in.

Devoted though we must be to the conservation cause, I do not believe that any of us should give it all of our time or effort or heart. Give what you can, but do not burn yourselves out -- or break your hearts. Let us save at least half of our lives for the enjoyment of this wonderful world which still exists. Leave your dens, abandon your cars and walk out into the great mountains, the deserts, the forests, the seashores. Those treasures still belong to all of us. Enjoy them to the full, stretch your legs, expand your lungs, enliven your hearts -- and we will outlive the greedy swine who want to destroy it all in the name of what they call GROWTH."

Illa de Vancouver, CANADÀ 2024

In the Victoria area of Vancouver Island, there is a park named Queens' Park (sometimes referred to as Queen's Park) located in the district of Oak Bay, adjacent to Victoria.

The name is used for several parks in British Columbia (most notably in New Westminster), but the one in Oak Bay is the relevant one in the Victoria area.

Key Highlights

Seaside Location: The park is situated right on the shoreline next to the Oak Bay Marina, offering spectacular scenic views of the Juan de Fuca Strait, nearby islands (like Chatham and Discovery Islands), and on clear days, Mount Baker in Washington State (USA).

Amenities and Art: It is a quiet spot, ideal for relaxing and picnicking. It features benches, beach access, and interpretive signs about local birds and wildlife. It was renamed in 2002 to honour Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee.

Public Art: A unique feature of the park is the public art installation called "The Hunt," which depicts a pack of steel-welded wolves.

Thanks to Vass for the help on wire wool and providing the relevant equipment!

This shot was taken just after dusk so it was still a little bit light out, that is why the sky is a lot lighter and more blue that my normal stuff.

Lighting

Flaming wire wool spun very fast behind the posts. Bare flash behind each post, pointed in the direction of the camera. Red gelled flash fired 4-5 times up at the roof from behind the camera. This technique certainly made for an interesting "Radioactive" pattern on the roof.

309 Yongjia Rd., Shanghai

By then, many areas of Shanghai had been locked down, and new ones were being added all the time, but many parts of the city centre were still as usual, where people's lives didn't seem to be affected at all. They did not see the plight of others and therefore did not feel that their situation was relevant to them.

However, half a month later they would see the other side of this seemingly modern city and would learn from the unimaginable stupidity, barbarism and brutality inflicted on its citizens.

He even sculpted the back and idk how tf he sculpted those pistols but damn they look great.

Dean Forest Railway, Norchard Station, near Lydney, Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom, on Wednesday 11th October 2012.

If you want to know about the heritage railway and its history, feel free to skip to Chapter Two: About the subject of Dean Forest Railway.

Chapter One: What is this photo about, and why I took the photo.

I am a photographer, but I am also a graphic designer. At that time I took the photograph, I was a very busy full-time single parent and full-time carer for my kids, so my career was put on hold. However whenever I have time to spare, I try to keep up my photography and graphic design skills by doing some projects when I can.

This was one of the graphic design projects I was doing. The project was to design a (non-existence) fictional CD album art, and I would prefer to take my own photographs, then import them into my graphic design work. The subject of the album art was about a fictional female singer-songwriter, whom had lived in an old industrial town, and wanted to leave so she could pursue her dreams of stardom.

For the album art design, I needed photos of old buildings, coal mines, and anything I can think of that would give the feel of a ran-down industrial places. Try to give the impression that the factories closed down, and that the coal mines have ran out of coal, all in black and white. The title of the album is called The Old Dying Town.

I was aware of some disused warehouses in Gloucester, and an old coal mine in Wales, those would made good background for the album art. I somehow noticed this heritage railway station not far from Lydney, in Gloucestershire, and stopped there, to see if there’s anything I can take photos of, for the design.

While looking around, and taking photos of the steam and diesel passenger trains, I noticed at the north end of the station, there was some kind of an out-of-the-way storage space for old rolling stock, like old carriages and boxcars. I think they kept the broken or damaged old railway vehicles there, maybe awaiting restoration, or to be broken up and used as spare parts.

So I took some shots, moved around for different viewpoints, try to get anything worthy of a background. I figured it would give the illustration of a railway scrapyard, and gives a gloomy feel that the fictional town lost its railway links. Hoping the photo would give the illustration of the town becoming a ghost town.

The photo was shot in 2012, and when I visited there in 2021, they were doing some improvements to this area, including building a platform.

Point of note: Those photographs were done with the camera set to Black and White, I did not take the photos in colour, and they were not converted into B&W by means of photo-editing software.

Chapter Two: About the subject of Dean Forest Railway.

The Dean Forest Railway is a 4 to 5 miles long heritage railway, still running vintage steam, and classic diesel trains, as a tourist attraction in the Forest of Dean, in Gloucestershire.

It started in 1799 as an idea for a horse-drawn tramway, linking the Forest of Dean to the rivers Severn and Wye, for the transportation of coal and iron materials.

Between 1800 to around the 1870s, it went through so many processes. Like building lines and branching out, changing company names, financial problems, rival companies, converting from horse-drawn tramway into steam powered railway, merging companies, change of railway gauge sizes, and so many other factors.

It became known as the Severn and Wye Railway during those years.

From around the 1870s onwards, in order to cope with financial difficulties, and to help with funding, they started fee-paying passenger services in addition to the goods carrying services. But ongoing financial problems, lack of traffic, and many other factors, continued up until around the 1940s.

After the Second World War (1939-1945), the railways in this area started to go downhill, mainly due ot declining coal industry in the area, lack of passengers, improvements in transportation elsewhere, and the nationalised of British railways.

Many stations and lines started closing down, or completely shut down, during the 1950s and 1960s.

Starting from the early 1970s onwards, a railway preservation society was formed to try to buy and save as much of the old railway, and run it as a heritage railway for tourism, and was then named as Dean Forest Railway.

At the current moment, the Dean Forest Railway is approximately between 4 to 5 miles long between Lydney and Parkend, with Norchard station as its home base, but they are hoping to extend the line to 7 miles in near future.

They run a range of mostly steam trains to 1960s diesel trains, with various carriages, and at least 5 stations.

For more in-depth details, simply Google “Dean Forest Railway” for a full history or for visiting.

Its fame has crossed many borders to become one of the most renowned towns in Asturias.

You cannot go through Luarca without feeling the traditional spirit that it still preserves in its appearance. The traveler will be able to witness the return of the fishing boats live. As well as its marine activity.

The sea is indissociable from Luarca no matter how the times change. The people carry it within. In fact, the shellfish culture was already practiced here in the last paleolithic stage, specifically in the so-called Asturianense, of which there are relevant findings throughout the municipality. In the photograph its City Hall.

------------------

In the Plaza de San Nicolás there are located several of the most important monuments of Granada, such as the Mirador de San Nicolás and the temple of the same name, that is the church of San Nicolás.

The so called Plaza de San Nicolás is the most visited square in the Albaicín district, where it is located, because you can get some of the best views of the monument par excellence of Granada, the Alhambra.

Originally here was the primitive mosque, from which it remains only the cistern.

It was also a meeting place and a parade ground.

At first it was not a clear plain, as we see it now, but it was occupied by Arab houses and palaces.

Legend says that in one of these palaces important diplomatic talks took place that ended with the surrender of Granada to the Catholic Monarchs in 1492

There are some trends that were already relevant earlier, but continue to be popular.

If you do not know what photos to make, I wish you a pleasant reading of this post) ▪

▪ ️Today, natural beauty is gaining popularity. Not exactly perfect skin. Or rather, it is not blurred beyond recognition.

Too perfect pictures just stopped believing.

▪ ▪

▪ Cyberpunk style. These are neon💚 colors. Many designers and illustrators already use this style in their works.

▪️Vertical images. We are increasingly exchanging messages, screenshots, ordering things, food-via the phone.

Therefore, the vertical format becomes the basis of everything.

▪ ▪ ▪ Short videos.

Which last no more than one second. And if they are also atmospheric, views are guaranteed.

⠀ To sum up: create the most natural, natural photos and videos. But that doesn't mean you can't be creative. Creative is always loved. Or at least makes you stop and look at the work.

The exhibition is realized with the support of Selim Varol from Düsseldorf, who probably has the most extensive collection

of urban art and designer toys. Graffiti, stencils, mosaics, stickers and collages, sculptures, performances, forms of communication guerrilla and "culture jamming", with works by JR, Banksy, KAWS, Swoon, Shepard Fairey, Osgemeos, Herakut or Prune Nourry, among others, the exhibition includes every imaginable art discipline in public space. The works, which are shaped by social and consumer criticism and have their origins in the pop and skateboard culture of the 90s, are just as relevant today as they were when they were created and, in their compilation, illustrate the inexhaustible creative, playful and political potential of street art, designers toys and urban art. I rarely show my mug anywhere because I don't think it's relevant in any way. If it's about my photographs, they should suffice. There has been exceptions of course, like my book, but not many. Today, there is one. Don't get used to these, this won't happen again anytime soon.

This is for an article in Suomen Kuvalehti, a prestigious 101 year old weekly newsmagazine in Finland. For me, this publication is one of the cornerstones of journalism in the country. They ran a piece on their "Hän" (Him/Her) series, in my case it meant a six page interview of, well... me. I am very proud of appearing on their pages. Finnish only.

My job was to take the main photo of me myself. They don't usually do it like that but in my case they made the call to break the pattern. On one hand it was a relief because I don't like being on that side of the lens, it gets uncomfortable fast. But being alone and in control it was a little easier, while on the other hand it was quite horrifying since I wasn't quite sure my ideas would really work. This is not what I intended to do, you see. In the end, I decided to go the easy way and just make a follow-up to the photo I made a couple of weeks earlier, I parked the X-wing back where it was, where I knew it looked nice, and took a selfie. Simple! It turned out better than my initial idea anyway.

Over 100 years ago our ancestors fought for King and Country. Imagine wanting to preserve your country as a sovereign nation and not wanting to be ruled over by a tyranny. The thing about autocratic regimes is that no level of control is ever enough.

I’m not a raving royalist but there is logic fighting for one’s monarch, at least as a symbol of one’s country. The Monarch of the UK upon coronation is asked, “Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland… according to their respective laws and customs? I would say that the customs of the UK include being a sovereign nation protected by sovereign armed forces.

Of course the MPs of the UK also swear allegiance to the Crown which therefore compels all MPs to serve the interests of the UK people according to their laws and customs. Parliament is not sovereign to itself in isolation to the wishes of the British people.

I just wish the UK government would not be so keen to send the serving young people of the UK around the World to fight in needless wars of aggression meddling in the affairs of other sovereign nations and seemingly not care for them on their return. Peace everyone.
