Digital piece.
For this piece, I wanted to explore creating art with various digital applications. As modern technology reaches its peak, I wanted to create art that fits today's societal norms.
This is a series of portraits painted on split Birchwood panels. Each piece of wood can be displayed interchanged with any other and so physically portraying the interaction between the different sitters.
In this way the connection between two or more people is represented; from the extremes of total separation to being entwined in an intimate relationship. The choice belongs to the person hanging the pictures.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library celebrated the retirement of Karen Beach who has been an invaluable connector throughout the Charlotte community. For over 20 years she has been essential in raising awareness, relationship building, and private funding, raising more than $13.5 million to support Library initiatives. In 2015, she was honored with the Joey Rodgers Leadership Award for her service by the Urban Libraries Council. Prior to the Library, Karen also served as the Grants and Community Relations Coordinator for Spirit Square. With experience in volunteer services, educational and community partnerships, community outreach, and special events creation such as EpicFest, Karen’s spirit and experience in public service will be greatly missed.

Through my sorority, I have developed life-long relationships and strengthened my ability to lend a helping hand, even in times of chaos or emotional stress.
Today..well, today was a blur.
I've been wishy-washy all day. I'm single, yet again. And although losing the person is kinda rough, it's not as bad as having to start from square one again in the relationship cycle.
Since my mother was convinced that I was about to hang myself from depression, one of my friends joined us for the day and we went to my favorite beach.
The water was ugly, but still worth it, because I love this beach, and the ocean itself.
I practiced my flute today, which I haven't done in a while and felt great to do.
Hopefully, I'll find the right person soon. I'm not on the desperate chase, but I'll the chips fall where they may for now.
