the familiarity of your eyes
holding attention on my still body;
re-tracing lines and folds by memory
constellations of freckles and past love.
unsure of what’s to come, I ask
is it sublime?
is it drawn on a map?
is it white picketed?
is it a child on our laps?
does it transcend time?
but these inquiries fade
we pull the trigger,
joyous in the unknown we
surrender.

Remember when you took that walk on the beach together and talked about all the things you want to do together and how it seems like nothing could ever tear you apart? Well boys come and go but friends are forever. Dear lord. Who (but Kava) forced our hands into the air like that? Madness.
Lynda Tredway and Joe Feldman led a session called Powerful Relationships in Schools: The Heartbeat of Reform on February 15, 2011 at Busboys and Poets in Washington, DC. Lynda Tredway (former Teaching for Change Board Chair and co-author of Leading from the Inside Out ) and Joe Feldman (author of Teaching Without Bells: What We Can Learn from Powerful Practice in Small Schools) talked briefly about their books and then invited the audience to engage in an interactive “world café” style exploration of teacher leadership and equity. Both books are part of the Teacher’s Toolkit edited by Brad Olsen. The event was co-sponsored by Teaching for Change's Busboys and Poets Bookstore and the Institute for Educational Leadership © Rick Reinhard 2011
