All of these were rejected for various reasons, but I liked 'em enough to post them anyway.

This will not be happening. He's the Magician from the Calcification of the Phoenix story, poised to leap into three-dimensional anti-life.

Thanks to Joanna at KidRobot for allowing me the opportunity to submit. Maybe next year.

This was another comp/sketch put together for a poster for the band Ladytron. The robot image was the original thing that led to the project, but the client (the band's booking agent) no like the robot. I'll find a home for it somewhere...

Doto, one of the Nereids (the fifty daughters of the Greek sea god Nereus), seems to be rejecting the domesticity in the paintings on the wall. This 1856 painting, titled The Neread Doto, is by Thomas Sully and hangs in the Portland (Maine) Art Museum. (PS: Some sources say she's a nereid, others a neread.)

rejected youth w/ the unseen & rentokill, 23.11.2007, Kato Berlin

invariably some shots get shoved aside after passing first inspection. my reject folder has a stack of photographs that, for one reason or another, i'm not happy with. occasionally i'll just attack them in photoshop, but a few just need time to percolate in my head in order to reveal their potential.

this shot i'm done with - it could be revisited later if i decide to punish my brain again. it's a twig from a neighbour's yard that i picked up on my way home one day and should probably learn to photograph better.
