Reflections of Nature
Lago Di Brais is a beautiful lake surrounded by the Dolomite Mountains. While there are plenty of locations around the shoreline for photo opportunities, I wanted to get a better perspective to showcase both the mountains and their reflections in the lake. To get it, I had to make an early hour climb up a hillside a bit of a distance from the lake. The spot I chose required shooting the scene at 300mm rather than the more classical wide-angle versions that can be seen in other images. It proves that using telephoto lenses can be used for landscape photography just as effectively as much wider-angle lenses.
In the lake at Marks Hall. There are some beautiful colours from the many birch trees along the edge of it
Early morning stormy sky - Lyrup Flats Murray River Australia. One of those favorite places to find these majestic dead river gums that still stand defiant.
Quick shot before work in this mornings mist. The mist was just lifting as I arrived, but I quite like the being able to just see the riverbank on the over side.

Another shot from sunset in Bandon on the Oregon Coast last month, early in my "victory lap" road trip circling the Western U.S. to celebrate the release of my new "Photographing California" landscape photography guidebook.

Took this image of a boat's reflection and edited it for a different quality. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail
Reflections along the pond at Dana fork in Tioga road. We could hear the roaring thunder amidst the storm. I stepped out of the car to capture during a short break from the rain.
i've thought about this shot for over a year now - i originally captured it on my digital camera, but wanted to add something special by capturing it on film. So after waiting for the rainstorms, i came back here a few days later, with the water in full flow and all the dirt and leaves washed away. Here i noticed a small reflecting pool to perfectly match the water falling down and then reflecting in a pool.
i think it creates tension - you expect the water to hit into this pool and disturb the reflection - instead you get all this power reflected back onto itself. i think that's why i like it - because it creates a bit of tension and keeps you looking - tension but calm
