Lovely reflections out at Entwistle Reservoir this morning. Very still, crisp and frosty. Quite a lovely day!

Got something to say, sit down on the bed

Something that I usually leave unsaid

It doesn't come so easily, I guess that's no surprise

I wanna see my heart's reflection in your eyes

a small derelict cottage that has been torn down, the left hand side is the reflection in the window, the right part is looking through to the landscape on the other side. This was one of my favourite places to photograph, sad that it's gone but glad I went there loads. Kodak portra developed in tetenal C41

A red squirrel pauses for a moment by a small pool of water. Fortunately most of the ice had melted in the afternoon sun so the reflection came out.

If you were the sky

Then I'd be the sea

And when you shined bright

It would reflect in me.

Just returned from North Carolina and the fall foliage (wow, it was amazing!) and I had planned to begin sharing some more of the images from our earlier trip to Alaska ... and perhaps some of those magnificent colors of the east ... but I began reflecting. Yes, my mind returned to those incredible polar bears from less than a month ago.

Reflection ... that's quite appropriate when sharing today's image. This young cub was just playing with its mom when it wandered off towards the edge of the snow covered landscape towards us. On this particular morning, there was barely a breathe of wind, which played perfectly into what I had hoped would be the result. I waited patiently for the cub to not only near the edge, but eventually lose interest in the scent in the snow and ultimately look up at us. Below was an amazing reflection of this adorable puff ball of a polar bear cub. So very curious as to our presence, though it really didn't alter its behavior in any way ... well, except for that glance.

Connected ... that's how I felt at this particular moment. A sudden surge of happiness passed through me, as if it were an electrical current. That's the moment that I long for ... the moment that I wait for ... and the moment that I treasure most. :-)

As I sit in my office this morning, I can't help but wonder where they are now and how they are faring. I hope that perhaps we will meet again. It can happen and it did happen with a particular brown bear in Katmai NP & Preserve ... precisely 2 years later. It was undeniable and I'll share that image and story tomorrow.

Thanks so much for stopping by to view and especially for sharing your thoughts and comments.

On reflection this is one of my favourite Bridge shots i've got. It was a spur of the moment decision to stop due to the stillness and glad i did - really like the soft wavey reflections. :-) 0.9 hard grad.

2024 was a rough year for us. However, I really can’t complain too much because some really good things happened, as well.

The best part of the year was adopting Torvi. She’s been such a radiant beam of sunshine in our lives and fits in perfectly with our weird little family. We love her so much!

While we weren’t able to have as many adventures as we would have liked with our camper van, just bringing it home was definitely a highlight of our year. Plus, we were still able to have some adventures with it, all of which were awesome.

On a similar note, all of the time Mike and I spent together (and with the kitties) is always a good thing, whether it’s hiking, biking, or just hanging out and playing a card game.

Another great highlight of the year was that I switched jobs! After 17 years in the same one, I was beyond burnt out and ready for a change. My new job is exactly what I was looking for and I’m extremely grateful for it.

The last good thing about this year was that after 7 months of terrible digestive issues, I finally received a diagnosis and am now recovering from a surgery to fix things. Having a chronic illness means dealing with a melodramatic body and despite taking care of myself, issues sometimes pop up as a complication of my illness. It’s a huge relief to be moving on from this!

Here’s to health and happiness for everyone in the coming year!
