Reflections of Nature

Lago Di Brais is a beautiful lake surrounded by the Dolomite Mountains. While there are plenty of locations around the shoreline for photo opportunities, I wanted to get a better perspective to showcase both the mountains and their reflections in the lake. To get it, I had to make an early hour climb up a hillside a bit of a distance from the lake. The spot I chose required shooting the scene at 300mm rather than the more classical wide-angle versions that can be seen in other images. It proves that using telephoto lenses can be used for landscape photography just as effectively as much wider-angle lenses.

A picturesque morning in late August. No wind and perfect sunlight created absolutely symmetric reflections on that particular morning, before the tourists arrive and ride small boats.

爽やかな晩夏の朝ならではの反映。観光客が湖に到着して、ボートに乗る前しか見れない風景。幼いころ以来見た自然の素晴らしさに思わず感動しました。

Multifaceted reflections from the windows of the Aria Resort/Hotel seem convey the variety of sights and activity along the strip in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Believe it or not, this is a photograph and not a composite image or other composition. While I did do a bit of global levels/contrast and color/white balance adjustments no local adjustments or manipulations were performed. It really did look this way!

Reflections along the pond at Dana fork in Tioga road. We could hear the roaring thunder amidst the storm. I stepped out of the car to capture during a short break from the rain.

After spending the last week cruising around Oregon and Washington on the hunt for fall color we are back home with a few images to pour through. The best color we found was in Tumwater canyon near Leavenworth and this is an image I captured of the color reflecting in a channel of still water at one of our stops along the way. The color in the usual locations in Oregon was a mixture of slightly disappointing to poor, with many of the leaves having already fallen and beginning to rot. Others trees appeared to not be at peak yet but I don't think it will get too much better than it is now. Hopefully I am wrong. It was still a great road trip capped off by our last workshop of the year which was a great success and a chance to meet a lot of great people. Hope you are all out there finding your slice of Fall.

Walking down 15th street in Philadelphia passed this glass-sided building getting the late afternoon sun and casting the most amazing shadows. I knew immediately that it needed to be photographed
