Last October we hiked back into the Rock River Falls in the Hiawatha National Forest in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The maples were dropping their yellow, orange, and red leaves! There were reflecting pools all along the trail!

This is a popular photo spot for couples being married here. However, most photos from here look much different. My processing was for perspective control (in spite of other distortion problems introduced) and texture of the stone in the temple. View large for best detail.

Made Explore, 12/17/21. Always an honor.

Another shot of the sunrise over Angkor Wat I saw a little later into it. Took this at a 4 minute exposure with an ND filter to get those wispy clouds and glass like smoothness to the reflecting pool.

It was hot, about 35°C and there was absolut no wind, so I was lucky to get this nice reflection on my picture.

Beautiful September evening in the Nation's Capital.

The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at the New York botanical Garden, the Bronx, NYC -- October 16, 2016

This is the blue hour version of a photo I posted about 3 weeks ago. This amazing water mirror or reflecting pool is located in Bordeaux France between the Garonne River and the Place de la Bourse. It is probably one of the most photographed sites in Bordeaux.

Portmeirion is a village on the Dwyryd estuary in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was constructed between 1925 and 1975 by the architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. Although Portmeirion has featured in several films and documentaries, it is most widely known as "The Village" in the cult 1967 television series "The Prisoner". This photo is a panorama of the reflecting pool at the center of the village.

The Colonnade Building is one of a trio of Brutalist buildings (along with the Administration Building and Reflection Hall, 1971-1973) ringing the old Mother Church and reflecting pool in the Christian Science Center. The three buildings and reflecting pool were designed by Araldo Cossutta of I. M. Pei & Associates.

Henry Moore's sculpture "Reclining Figure" is joined by the newly installed (and temporary) colorful sculptures of artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya.

"Islands In The Sea" is described by the artist

"I created nine sculptures because in Thai the word for nine, gâo (เก้า), is a homonym for moving forward, gâo nà (ก้าว หน้า). It’s a reminder that, while grief never fully leaves us, we can soften its edges. Each sculpture is rounded, textured, and undulating, just like the organic nature of the sorrow living within us.

The entire process of making Islands in the Sea, of placing thousands of beads onto those sculptures, reflects the effortful journey of healing from trauma. I hope when people see the layered intricacies of the work, they can feel the multifaceted nature of grief on these landscapes."

Up close and personal with our duck friend who is bobbing for fish in the Reflecting Pool at the National Mall in Washington D.C. Love that single, little tail feather.

The Pulgas Water Temple, designed by architect William G. Merchant, was erected by the San Francisco Water Department to commemorate the 1934 completion of the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct. .The aqueduct brings water 160 miles from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in Yosemite National Park to the Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir near Redwood City; the water temple is located at the aqueduct's terminus.

It’s a small Greco-Roman style temple and long reflecting pool set at the edge of the reservoir waters and open space preserve. The temple is inscribed with the words "I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people" (Isaiah 43:20).

"Pulgas" is the Spanish word for "fleas", which were encountered by early Spanish explorers of the area. The name comes from the former Rancho de las Pulgas, an early Spanish land grant.

Hope you have a great weekend ahead! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your visits, comments, awards and faves - I appreciate them all.
