Collaboration with the amazing Ryan.
I probably never worked on a photo for such a long time. I haven't done anything else today :) Please watch big.
Look at the fantastic outcome of Ryan's photo: here.
I love how different these photos are concerning the fact that we both started with the same two photos.

I'm continuing to (finally) scan the remaining prints from my first Holga rolls.
There's me. Hi. ;) What I like here are the things that will probably irritate some folks: the texture created by (I believe) the quirky Holga light problems, and the rather odd right margin (I just adore this & would in fact consider copying & adding it to other shots! =). I also like the glimpse of an old building facade lost in the chaos of the right side of the image.
As mentioned, I just really played, trying to see for myself what I can and cannot do w/ this wondrous little camera -- testing it through a range of conditions, knowing much of it would not work out. So, I look forward to refinements & being able to post some better shots.
Thank you for taking a look! ^_^

Sorry I have been really busy.. I will try and catch up when I can. Thank you all very much for your wonderful comments.
I meet up with a wonderful flickr and we had a wonderful time getting blown and rained on while looking around the city. It was great to meet up with her. Pity the weather wasn't kinder!
September 19, 2015 Christchurch, New Zealand.
It got so wet and cold we spent some time looking around the inside of the Heritage Hotel.
A Write up About the Heritage Hotel.
Christchurch is a long way from the Mediterranean – nevertheless, the opulence of an Italian High Renaissance Palazzo awaits you at the Heritage Christchurch. Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance. The hotel’s grand design is fitting: after all, Christchurch is regarded as the Garden City, and is regarded internationally for its culture and refinement.

Tram 236 of 1935 was the last of a class twelve cars to a design developed between English Electric and Walter Luff (manager of Blackpool Tramways) to provide a modern and practical open top car for summer use on the promenade and tourist tours around the town.
Wooden slatted reversible seating for 56 was provided in a double ended body 42' 4" X 7' 6", running on English Electric class A bogies each equipped with a 40hp English Electric 327 motor. 236 with 225 and 226 used EE DB1 controllers, the remainder using BTH B18 ones.
The class remained popular during the 1950s but after the closures of the town routes (1961-1963) use of the class dwindled and scrapping of four cars took place at Blundell Street Depot in 1968 having been in store since 1962. The remaining cars received new numbers in that year, 236 becoming 607.
Four of the class have found their way to the U.S.A. and three cars are part of Blackpool Heritage fleet.
Car 236 had a number of alterations in Blackpool. A one piece Perspex screen was added in 1958. Rather ugly and prone to scratching it was replaced by a much more sympathetic and practical two piece windscreen in 1990. In 1971 it was used to test pantograph operation.
Withdrawn in 2004 and sponsored by the Fylde Tramway Society and the Tramcar Sponsorship Organisation for restoration to original condition which was done by Blackpool Transport Services with additional refinements taking place on its arrival at Crich.

I adore these moments when everything is just right. Your thoughts stop running and it becomes clear that these are the moments we are living for. Perfectly peaceful and a bit eternal. These moments we will collect and remember. Smiling every time we reminisce.

The Porst reflex TTL was sold in Germany under this name from 1970, but was built in Japan by Cosina, where it was sold under the names Chinonflex TTL and Ricoh Singlex TLS. It is a robust, completely mechanical 35mm camera that still works without problems today, it has a CdS light meter. A contemporary advertisement praises it by saying, "With technical refinements that amaze even experts!" Its lens, either an Auto Chinon or an Auto Reflecta 55mm / 1.7 is of high quality and can still be used well today, especially as it has the common M42 mount.
Jewel of Pays d’Auge, Normandy en.normandie-tourisme.fr/normandy-tourism-109-2.html, the Castle of Saint-Germain de Livet is striking by its architecture. Surrounded by moats, it is made up of a timber-framed manor dates back to the 15th century and a Renaissance wing built during the 16th century. This part is remarkable for its painting tiles. The castle houses marvellous frescoes dated from the 16th century. The visit is extended by the discovery of the flowery and raised park. This castle is also a museum. It presents the furniture and the works of art of the family Riesener-Pillaut who bequeathed the castle to the city of Lisieux in 1957. The inside testifies the refinement and the lifestyle of the 19th century. The trail evokes the artistic and personal journey of the painter Léon Riesener (1808-1878), grandson of the cabinet maker Jean-Henri Riesener and cousin of Eugène Delacroix. Visit the furnished interior of the Château de Saint-Germain-de-Livet, where you can also admire paintings by the artist Léon Riesener. Through judgment, trials,
and refinement,
our satanic dispositions

God's words always lead the way.
Our faith has been completed,
we stand witness and see God's love.

THE SIATA 208S
The Società Italiana Auto Trasformazione Accessori, or SIATA, was established in Turin by Giorgio Ambrosini in 1926. Initially a manufacturer of speed equipment for FIATs – dual carburetor manifolds, high compression cylinder heads, overhead valve conversions, superchargers, gearsets and even complete gearboxes – Siata enjoyed a symbiotic relationship with FIAT. The enhanced performance of Siata-equipped FIATs brought competition success and encouraged sales without FIAT's direct involvement.
Following World War II, Siata leveraged its success to resume construction of FIAT-based sports cars. With the FIAT-SIATA 750 Sport Competizione, Giorgio Ambrosini's son Renato won the 750cc Italian Championship in 1948 and 1949. A series of SIATA 300BC Spiders were built for the U.S. market powered by Crosley's potent little 750cc single overhead camshaft engine. Larger cars followed, which brought Siata to the attention of American enthusiasts like Tony Pompeo, Briggs Cunningham, John Perona and Ernie McAfee.
Having been involved in FIAT's Otto Vu project from the outset, and when the company ceased production after 49 cars were built, Siata naturally had access to the overrun of planned V8 power units. This led them to produce their own models: the 2 liter, or 208S. It was undeniably the best-looking car to wear the Siata badge by then (arguably ever), wearing incredibly beautiful coachwork penned by the styling house of Motto. Motto would go on to style other iconic automobiles, such as the Porsche Abarth Carrera.
Tuned by Siata to make 125 horsepower or more, the Siata 208S, in both Coupe and Spider, achieved exceptional performance and a degree of aesthetic presence that is unprecedented in the early Fifties. Their design – leaning forward in a pose that recalls the photographs of early racing cars and taken by cameras with focal plane shutters – is aggressive, potent, sleek and elegant. In the finest tradition of great coachbuilding and sports car design, the appearance of the Siata 208S was matched by its performance. An early owner characterized the Siata 208s as "a dream to drive...What I liked most about it was styling, handling and its ability to go like a rocket on demand."
Expectedly, the fabulous looks and sporting performance came at a price. Here in the States that meant a sticker of just under $5,000; a hefty number in the mid-1950s, but a natural fit for the California culture of design and performance and revered warm climate. The legendary Los Angeles Hot Rodder, turned dealer, Ernie McAfee ensured Siata's popularity on the West Coast; importing the lion's share of them helped by the backing of the wealthy Doheny family.
McAfee's period advertising proclaimed, "Equal these items in any Car and you have a SIATA V8 - 2 Liter V8 Engine, 4 Wheel Independent Suspension, 78 Spoke Borrani Racing Wheels, Genuine 120hp with 120mph, Fantastic Brakes, Michelin Tires, 1900 lbs. Weight. $4995 Complete." McAfee garnered this information from first-hand experience, having bravely campaigned one of the first examples on the Carrera Panamericana in 1953.
Siata's long and successful history, its experience tuning and developing Fiat-based performance cars, the excellence of the Rudolf Hruska-led design team, the performance and refinement of the Fiat Otto Vu V8, and the simple, refined beauty of the coachwork (provided by Italy's finest and most creative carrozzerias) designate the Siata 208S as one of the most appreciated, sought after, and desirable high-performance spiders of the period. They are rarely seen today, and infrequently available to collectors.

Antonia Canova: 1757
Psyche ranimee par le baiser de l'Amour
White Marble
Antonio Canova (1757 -1822) was an Italian sculptor who became famous for his marble sculptures that delicately rendered nude flesh. The epitome of the Neoclassical sculptor, his work marked a return to classical refinement after the theatrical excesses of Baroque art.
Psyche ranimee par le baiser de l'Amour
Antonio Canova's statue Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss, first commissioned in 1787, exemplifies the Neoclassical obsession with love and emotion. It represents the god Cupid in the height of love and tenderness, right after awakening the lifeless Psyche with a kiss, a scene excerpted from Lucius Apuleius' The Golden Ass. A masterpiece of its period, it appeals to the senses of sight and touch, yet simultaneously alludes to the Romantic interest in emotion co-existing with Neoclassicism.
Joachim Murat donated the first version (pictured) to the Louvre Museum in Paris, France in 1824; Prince Yusupov, a Russian nobleman who acquired the piece in Rome in 1796, gave a later version (created in 1796) to the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
Strathcona County, Alberta.
A couple observations regarding developments in camera technology. I've been testing the Nikon Z6(a newer full frame mirrorless camera). I posted two shots of this GGO using very different settings. The first photo, where the owl is scratching an itch, my shutter speed was quite high(1/1600th of a second) because I wanted to freeze movement and also capture a flight shot(and also test the camera's tracking ability). It was late in the day and the light was poor. In my menu, I let the camera choose a suitable ISO setting, the upper limit being ISO 8000. Because of the limited available light, the camera unsurprisingly chose ISO 8000. Amazingly, very little noise appeared in the raw file, which was relatively easy to clean up in post editing, while still retaining detail. This is one of the huge benefits of using a full frame sensor and its larger pixels. The downside is that I lose the "reach" of the crop factor of a DX body.
In the above photo, I have a drastically improved ISO setting of ISO 1000. This would not have been possible with any other camera I previously owned. But with the Z6, it is possible because of in-body image stabilization. I was able to get consistently sharp images at settings as low as 1/50th of a second. This is remarkable considering I was shooting at an equivalent focal length of 630mm. As long as the target was stationary, the image was sharp. With the advancement and refinement of technology, photographers are able to have the best of both worlds... very clean high ISO images and very sharp low shutter speed images(handheld).
Two Aspen Trees and Cliff. © Copyright 2021 G Dan Mitchell – all rights reserved.– all rights reserved.
Two autumn aspen trees against the rocky face of an Eastern Sierra Nevada cliff.
This is another photograph that isn’t quite totally new. Some years ago I made several exposures of this little scene, with the two trees with fall color backed by the rocky cliff face. (To be sure, this was not the only time I photographed these trees — this is a favorite spot of mine in the right conditions.) But This one is just a bit different than the earlier one — a very slightly different position, I think, and a different crop, plus some refinement of how I approached the post processing.
I sort of wonder if it may be too early to start sharing fall color photographs. Ah, heck, no! Never too early for that! In fact, my mind is typically on at least three seasons at a time anyway. First, the season that just passed and from which I still have raw files to process. Second the current season because, well, that’s obvious, right? Third, one season beyond the current one — because I always have slightly longer term plans running in the back of my mind.

Just 400,000 m² in size, the history Mozia is very ancient: as a shipping centre and staging post, and due to its presence near the coast of important trade city, it was one of the most important Phoenician and Carthaginian settlements in the Mediterranean area. The Phoenicians transformed the inhospitable island, which they called Motya, into one of the most affluent cities of its time, naturally defended by the lagoon as well as high defensive walls. Ancient windmills and salt pans were used for evaporation, salt grinding and refinement, and to maintain the condition of the lagoon and island itself. Recently the mills and salt pans (called the Ettore Infersa) have been restored by the owners and opened to the public.
In the 6th century BC, due to the struggles between ancient Greece and Carthage over Sicily, Motia sided with the Phoenicians and Carthaginians against the Greeks. The ancient settlement at Motia, founded in the 8th century BC, was destroyed by the Syracuse tyrant Dionysius the Elder in 379 BC.
During the Middle Ages, Basilican monks settled on the island and renamed it San Pantaleo, and in 1888 was rediscovered by Joseph Whitaker.

Introduction
God chose me from an ocean of crowds,
arranging me to come to His side.
His truthful and kind words warmed my heart.
Given the truth, in joy I reside.
His familiar voice, beautiful face
have never changed from the very start.
In His house, His sweet love I taste,
so I lean close and wish not to part.
God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no
complaint.
I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.
I’ll accompany God forever, forever.
Without God, the days became too hard.
I staggered along in painful stride.
His protection leads me all the way.
Now with God's words , I am satisfied.
Time brings changes, the world will evolve.
But nothing can part my heart from God.
A promise of millennia, unchanged oath.
Cycles of life and death, I am back to His side.
God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no
complaint.
I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.
I’ll accompany God forever, forever.
He’s sown life in my heart.
His words nurture me, giving trials, refinements.
Persecution and sufferings make my life stronger.
Failures are to temper me.
God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no
complaint.
I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.
I’ll accompany God forever, forever.
God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no
complaint.
I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.
I’ll accompany God forever, forever.

Castel del Monte, Andria (BT), Puglia, Italia
Castel del Monte, 37 mi from Bari, is one of the 50 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy.
Commissioned by Frederick II of Swabia in the 13th Century, the Castle is a massive and dominating octagonal structure that sits on a small stretch of the Murge plateau in Apulia, 11 mi from Andria.
Universally considered an example of genius medieval architecture, Castel del Monte actually unites elements of diverse styles and traditions from different epochs in history. Visitors can see this in the Romanic lines of the lions at the Castle’s entrance, in the Gothic cornice of the towers, in the Classical movement of its interior frieze, in the defensive grandeur of the structure in general and in the Islamic refinement of its mosaics.
******************************************************************************

“I love tulips better than any other spring flower; they are the embodiment of alert cheerfulness and tidy grace, and next to a hyacinth look like a wholesome, freshly tubbed young girl beside a stout lady whose every movement weighs down the air with patchouli. Their faint, delicate scent is refinement itself; and is there anything in the world more charming than the sprightly way they hold up their little faces to the sun. I have heard them called bold and flaunting, but to me they seem modest grace itself, only always on the alert to enjoy life as much as they can and not be afraid of looking the sun or anything else above them in the face.”

Sloth is defined as spiritual and actual apathy or laziness, putting off what God asks you to do, or not doing it or anything at all. Acedia is a Latin word, from Greek akedia, literally meaning "absence of caring". Acedia can also lead to God's wrath.
Sloth can also concern wasting due to lack of use or allowing entropy, expanding into almost any person, place, thing, skills, or intangible ideal that would require maintenance, refinement and/or support to continue to exist.
This is something I am guilty of myself! I enjoy sitting back on the couch and relaxing to my favorite shows on TV. Sometimes I can be really lazy!
Sloth is a part of the 7 deadly sins series!

Piazza del Duomo - Baptistery of St. John the Baptist.
Inside the baptistery there are high-relief sculptures depicting the months and seasons of the year.
Originally the statues were placed on the parapet of the first balcony with the corresponding zodiac symbols underneath.
The cycle of statues is however incomplete: the representations of summer and autumn are in fact missing.
Overall, the cycle was probably intended for the main portal of the cathedral façade, but the work was interrupted, perhaps due to Antelami's death (which occurred while the construction site of the baptistery was still active or his premature departure.
Although the interventions of the workshop cannot be excluded, it is unanimously recognized as Antelami's masterpiece, the work in which he lavished a synthesis of his conception of the representation of man and in which he reached the pinnacle of his executive refinement.

I promised myself I will take a new photo for this project every week but for this week I knew I wouldn't be able to take one that fits better than this (which was taken in Croatia).
It's only 5 more days till I leave Cardiff and I'm counting the minutes to leave the thorns behind. It hasn't been the most happy three month but I'm so thankful that it taught me how much I love my family, Iman, my friends, my home and Germany. I learned a lot about myself and this a life and my heart is filled with pleasant anticipation.
Next weeks photo will already been taken at home <3 jipiayjee :)

Excerpt from www.historicplaces.ca/en/rep-reg/place-lieu.aspx?id=9727:
Sited in a landscaped garden amongst mature trees in a residential Gravenhurst neighbourhood, Bethune House is an attractive L-shaped, timber structure. Its gable roof is steeply pitched, while the clapboard exterior features bay windows, ornamental verge boards and a verandah. The designation is confined to the footprint of the building.
Bethune House is a Recognized Federal Heritage Building because of its historical associations, and its architectural and environmental values.
Bethune House is very closely associated with the early life of Dr. Norman Bethune in Canada. His birthplace acts as a memorial to his career and is a monument to social justice and human welfare, convictions held by Dr Norman Bethune. An internationally renowned figure, he became a strenuous advocate of socialized, easily available medical care. His achievements include several developments in the treatment of tuberculosis and in thoracic surgery, refinements in medical instruments, and the first practical use of a mobile blood transfusion unit.
Bethune House is a good example of a typical middle-class residence found throughout Canada in the late 19th century. The influence of the picturesque is seen in the steeply pitched roof, the vertical emphasis of the massing and its asymmetrical plan. It exhibits good functional design and craftsmanship.
Bethune House is compatible with the present character of its residential setting and is familiar to those visiting the region.
The character-defining elements of Bethune House should be respected.
Its good quality materials and craftsmanship, as evidenced in:
- the two-storey, asymmetrical, L-shaped plan;
- the steeply-pitched gable roof, the ornamental verge-boards and the brick chimneys;
- the clapboard exterior walls, the symmetrical arrangement of the windows, the bay windows and the verandah;
- the centre hall plan with informal layout of rooms and the interior details.
The manner in which Bethune House is compatible with the present character of the residential setting and is a familiar local landmark, as evidenced by:
- its overall picturesque appearance which complements the landscaped grounds and harmonizes with the residential structures on John Street;
- its role as an interpretive memorial that make it familiar to the community.
The guqin 古琴( literally "ancient stringed instrument" ) is a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family. It has been played since ancient times, and has traditionally been favored by scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement, as highlighted by the quote "a gentleman does not part with his qin or se without good reason" ,as well as being associated with the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius. It is sometimes referred to by the Chinese as "the father of Chinese music" or "the instrument of the sages". The guqin is not to be confused with the guzheng, another Chinese long zither also without frets, but with moveable bridges under each string.

Round arched openings at 5 Nicolson Street and 5 South College Street with timber panelled entrance doors and semi-circular fanlight glazing above. Piended dormers, alternately with sidelights.
This fine late 18th century corner tenement, next to Robert Adam’s Old College, has significant streetscape value and survives with little external alteration. It is a critical part of the expansion of the city in the late 18th century following the construction of the South Bridge. The tenement is notable for the high quality of its shop fronts. The Classical style with understated detailing and perfect proportions is typical of Edinburgh tenements built in the late 18th century.
The first edition OS map of 1849-53 shows this corner building as the Edinburgh Temperance Hotel. In 1851, No 3 Nicolson Street was a small linen merchants store belonging to Ross & Scott. By the end of the 19th century, this store had become Hugh Ross & Co and had expanded to premises occupying 3 storeys at Nos 1, 3 & 5 Nicolson Street and in South College Street. It was described in a late 19th century advertisement as a shop with good taste and refinement. The building continued to be a department store under a variety of owners, until 1968 when John D Blair & Son moved out. The upper storeys of the tenement have since been returned to flats.
South College Street and this section of Nicolson Street date from the late 1790s, after the completion of the South Bridge. To the South of this tenement, part of Nicolson Street had already been developed on land belonging to Lady Nicolson, and her house and garden stood near this site, between Nicolson Street and the South Bridge. To make the link as straight as possible between the new South Bridge and the part of Nicolson Street already completed, it was necessary to demolish the house before this section of Nicolson Street was built.

The Lotus Europa name is used on two distinct mid-engined GT coupé cars built by Lotus Cars. The original Europa and its variants comprise the Lotus Types 46, 47, 54, 65 and 74, and were produced between 1966 and 1975. The second vehicle is the Type 121 Europa S, a Lotus Elise-derived design produced from 2006 to 2010. The Europa concept is believed to have originated during 1963 with drawings done by Ron Hickman, then director of Lotus Engineering, for Lotus'a bid for the Ford GT40 racing car project. When that contract was lost to Lola Cars, Chapman chose to use Hickman's highly-efficient aerodynamic design, which had a drag coefficient of only Cd 0.29, as the basis for a new mid-engined production model originally intended to succeed the Lotus 7. By the mid 1960's, the mid-engine vehicle configuration was well-established as the optimal design for Grand Prix cars, however almost no road vehicles yet used this arrangement. Lotus planned the Europa to be a volume-produced, two-seater mid-engined sports coupe built to reasonable cost, quite an ambitious goal for the time. Like all Lotus vehicles of the era, the Europa was designed and built following Chapman's oft-stated philosophy of automotive design: "Simplify, then add lightness". To this end, a number of ingenius design approaches were made by Lotus to allow it to economically overcome the many challenges presented by the novel mid-engined arrangement. The Europa S2, or Type 54, was introduced in April 1968 (from chassis Number 0645 onwards). It used the same Renault engine as the Type 46, but offered a number of refinements, including electric windows, fully adjustable seats, a new interior, and a polished wooden fascia for the dashboard. Per request of the automotive insurance industry, Lotus switched to bolt fasteners (instead of resin bonding) to attach body to frame. A small number of Type 54s were modified to be "federalized", that is, made suitable for export to the United States. The Federal Type 54 was slightly modified. They were actually recalled because of the headlamps being too low (a "bug eye" headlamp raiser was to be installed). The Federal 54 had the low fenders of the European 54, but larger engine of the type 65. In 1969-70, the Type 65 (also known as S2 Federal) was born specifically for export to the US, with additional changes to the body, chassis, suspension and the powerplant to better comply with U.S. D.O.T. standards. Production of the 54 continued for cars supplied to the rest of the world. Among the changes, the engine was a slightly modified emission controlled Renault 16TL 1565 cc engine producing 80 hp rather than the 1470 cc engine of the Type 54. The front suspension was changed to make the front end of the car taller along with taller front fenders to raise the headlamps. Road & Track magazine tested the Federal S2 and recorded 0-60 mph in 9.6 seconds with a top speed of 116 mph (187 km/h). Lotus produced 3,615 S2s. The Swiss Lotus importer also made two special versions fitted with the Renault 16 TS type 807 engine, the "Europa Hemi 807" and the fuel injected "Europa Black Shadow 807". The Hemi 807 had 105 PS (77 kW) SAE and could reach 200 km/h (124 mph), while the Black Shadow had 137 PS (101 kW) on tap. The Black Shadow also received a five-speed gearbox.[11] These cars had a wider track, special wheels and stickers, white indicator lights up front, and featured extractor vents high on the side panel behind the rear door. The fuel injection system was from Kugelfischer. Production of the original Lotus Europa ceased in 1975, with a total of 9,230 cars of all models having been built. This image was created from multiple exposures blended together in Photoshop CS6 layers using the "Lighten" blend mode. All exposures were taken with a single Paul C. Buff Einstein strobe with a 22" beauty dish attached to a Elinchrom boom arm and a 3-stop B&W ND filter attached to my lens. If you send me a FlickrMail message, I'll be more than happy to send you some information on mostly how I photograph this style and what equipment I use, along with some YouTube video links that help explain this process.
