Another set of similar faces around GEC Circle, Chittagong, Josna & Jorina beg for living. You'll see them almost every evening doing their daily chores.

I took the photograph the first time I saw them, and the red saree was glowing from the white light from the nearby fruit shop.

She gets paid Rs.100($1) for approximately a rucksack of tea leaves. In the olden days, baskets were more common and were usually carried on their backs but the lighter rucksacks have taken over now. During my time in Delhi, many people were suggesting that Damon and I should have an Indian wedding when he arrived to visit. (Everyone loves the fuss and the excuse to drop everything to celebrate here.) D and I kicked it around a bit and decided to go for it... in 3 and half days our friends helped us pull a gorgeous Hindu ceremony together on a rooftop in Hauz Khas. After experiencing the ritual and finery of Indian bride-dom, our "western" wedding in April will have a hard time keeping up. Such wonder. Dig.
