Back on Kirkgate, and moving further away from Manor Row, this building - originally the Bradford Banking Company, and a symbol of Bradford's growing prosperity - stands on the corner with Darley Street, now the city's main shopping street. It bears the inscription "Labor Omnia Vincit" - Work Conquers All.

New housing and businesses being built around park space and the remnants of the old pulp mill for decoration.

In background, the brick building was Georgia Pacific's alcohol plant. It made various chemical products, including artificial vanilla flavoring, from (I think) lignin, a byproduct of wood processing.
