Red dragonfly (akatonbo in Japanese, which means "red dragonfly") sitting on a pipe stuck into the ground we use to make sure we don't drive over someone else's garden when we back up our car. The dragonfly likes the pipe as it can see all of its prey in the weeds below.
I thought this little guy was dead because he let me get this
close (holding thumb & finger 2 inches apart) with my lens. But I tapped its tail and off he went. There were dozens of these out today.

Boy were the red ones hard to shoot! Very skittish!
I went hunting for bugs in Fish Creek Park this afternoon. Armed with my macro lens, I also stumbled upon a lovely Doe having lunch. The lens didn't work for a shot of her but it was lovely to be so close to her without her being startled, we just watched each other and went on with our business.
Such a nice day to have off from work. Had to take Miss Abbie in for my blood work this morning.
As soon as I noticed the red dragonfly in the garden, I rushed to grab my camera. Just before lunchtime.
Red Dragonfly - it showed up in my family's backyard on the day of my beloved mother-in-law's funeral. She always saw the world through delicate colors. Her spirit was strong.
