For this week’s submission LightAsAFeather, here’s a shot from the Red Devils official parachute display team, they are made up of both the Parachute Regiment (The Paras) and the British Army. This shot was taken during their tribute to the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Normandy landings at Duxford.

(This is a night time spotting on tea (Camellia species). Many varieties of Limacodid larvae fluoresce under a blacklight (ultraviolet), making them exceptionally easy to spot on nocturnal photography missions with a handheld UV torch. Once located, I switch to my lens-mounted LED ring light and flash for illumination.)

27 June 2021: During the week from 17 to 23 June an average of 353 people tested positive for the coronavirus. This is 35% down on the figures for the previous week. The incidence, which indicates the average number of new cases per day per 100,000 inhabitants, now sits at 58.7. The total number of COVID-19 patients in our country’s hospitals fell to 380; of those hospitalized 157 are on ICU. The reproduction rate of the coronavirus in Belgium has returned to 0.80 after rising to 0.83 briefly during the week. As of Thursday, 72.5% of the adult population in Belgium had received the first injection of a coronavirus vaccine. This figure equates to just over 6.7 million people. Of these, over 3.7 million people (40.5% of the adult population in Belgium) have received a second dose and are now considered fully protected. To stop or at least slow down the spread of more virulent strains of the coronavirus such as the Delta variant people travelling from a total of 24 countries are banned from entering Belgium as of yesterday. Among the countries on the travel ban list is the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, the soccer madness has hit Ghent. Tonight, the Belgian Red Devil are playing Portugal in the UEFA EURO 2020 round of 16 at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville at 9:00 pm CET - Kaarderijstraat, Ghent, Belgium.

The Red Devils Parachute display team. I have never jumped out of an aircraft in my life, (a serviceable or unserviceable one) nor will I ever do so.

This does not mean that I can't appreciate the skill and bravery of those that do so.
