Happy Fence Friday !
Yeh....it's the end of the week. www.instagram.com/missgeok/
It's always worth waiting after the sun goes down to see if that afterglow is going to kick in. I nearly missed this little event after being disappointed by the actual sunset itself. I was already packed up and heading home when the blush of pink in the cloud suddenly turned into this deep rouge. Of course when I saw the change occurring it was a mad rush to drop everything and grab whatever shots I could whilst the colour lasted.
It was a very windy evening, about 30 min hike to the location by the cliffs - yes, going up was easy but going down in the dark (even with a torch) ... that's another story :)
It was definitely worth going there as the view is stunning, and I mean everywhere around, 360 degrees! I'm definitely coming back there. If someone wants to join me next time, I'd be happy :)
From a fairly overcast afternoon, came the opportunity with a break in the clouds to allow the remainder of the sunset to catch the cloud on top of this mountain. It was a beautiful sight and I don't think I really did it enough justice here!
Thanks for taking the time to make a comment, I really appreciate it and will always try to reciprocate with a visit back to your stream.

This was just last night. How serendipitous. Don't get to use that word too often.
This is straight out of the camera.

Took this shot of an awesome sunset in Vancouver, BC last night while waiting at the bus stop on the way home. I liked the sunset reflections in the windows and the lights in the opposite one.
NB: No editing at all, just a small crop at the top.
Well today is the end of my 365 photographic journey through 2015 and I’m celebrating by posting an old favourite subject of mine that was taken whilst in Rome for my birthday. This is the view looking west along the river Tiber towards Ponte Saint Angelo and the dome of St Peter’s Basilica. Not an original vantage point at all but this was among the images that I saw many years ago that inspired me to take up photography so it feels quite special to me.
It’s been quite difficult at times trying to keep going with new images and to maintain the routine of posting daily, especially when travelling in parts of the world without internet access, but it has also been a labour of love. I’ll be continuing to post images regularly and although I won’t be able to commit to a daily frequency any more I hope you will continue to follow my work.
I’d like to offer my sincere thanks for all the wonderful comments and words of encouragement that I’ve received from you all during 2015 and to wish everyone a happy new year for 2016.
I've recently been told that my use of the term "Squinty Pier" to describe this architectural landscape feature is incorrect. I thought the term "Squinty Pier" was a pretty accurate description, it is after all a pier and it's not exactly straight, but it is not the correct term to use.
The locals apparently call the breakwater "The Blocks" which whilst I suppose is a fairly reasonable and accurate term to use it's not nearly as much fun to say as the "Squinty Pier".
So for the sake of political correctness and to avoid conflict with any local tradition here is my most recent image of the "The Blocks" consisting of a view showing a pier that is awfully squint at sundown.
This was what the clouds looked like 5 minutes before they turned completely gold by the pre-rising sun ("A Golden Pre-Sunrise") which I posted a few days ago.

Have yourself a great weekend, my Flickr Friend!
Red is the color of love. Beating hearts and hungry lips. Roses, Valentines, cherries.

October sky, Los Angeles California.
A foreground feature to catch interest, a nice colour in the sky to fill the background and some smooth water to fill in the gaps. I know it’s all very formulaic and landscape photography by the numbers, but you know what, I’ve been doing this for years now and I still like the formula. I still find myself mesmerised by a beautiful sunset and find it invigorating to get up before the sunrise to see the stunning dawn to a new day. I wish I had more free time to catch nature’s lightshows but for now I’ll get out there when I can and hope to catch a few images worth sharing. Even if they are a bit formulaic!
Another shot of St Michael’s Mount from my recent trip to Cornwall.
I visited St Michael’s Mount on a number of occasions trying to catch a variety of angles and conditions. Today’s shot is one of three images captured back to back at sunset. All three shots show the colour of the sunset lighting the building and illuminating the sky. The difference between them is the focal length. This shot was taken at 120mm framing tightly on the building and sky whereas the others are 16mm wide angle framing the whole island and an ultra-wide panorama taking in the whole vista. I’ve already posted the 16mm image and the ultra-wide will follow.
I particularly like this image for light and shade on the building and trees. The overall image just feels full of grain and texture.
Feurteventura: Taken from the beach at Corralejo at low tide with the sun over Isla De Lobos. Had to re-post, updated my Aperture library and lost my last few months uploads!
