Just what the doctor ordered... it's not #redbar but nothing is! (via Foodspotting)

For my birthday (and to cheer me up, as I've not had the best of luck over the last week or so), my friend took me to Big Red, a pub on the Holloway Road that caters for the alternative scene kids like me. He's a biker, so you get that crowd in here too, and your old-skool rockers and goths. Basically the type of pub where you're not going to get some chav or city boy types, which is just as well really, as I'm running out of places to go where I can have a decent drink without some mug ruining the night for me.

The music's good if you're into your hard rock and alternative scene. Atmosphere's great as well – the place has got some real character with loads of random stuff all pinned up to the walls, ceilings, you name it. You can pop in for a quiet drink in the mid-afternoon before it gets really busy. Bar staff are nice and the food is great (you get a lot of it, that's for sure). Condiments are brought to you in a little Corona Beer carrier, which was cute, and when it gets darker, they bring out the candles in the Jack Daniel's bottles.

After this, we headed up to the Islington Academy to see Symphony X.

In from Los Angeles to warm up the crowd at James Fritz's CD taping. She came straight from the airport - put her luggage behind the sound board.

After dinner, this was taken to a great little bar called Keybar.

Exciting, professional and affordable comedy in downtown Chicago.

Sitting on the porch of an establishment having a bowl of lime - tortilla soup and a green beverage. Man, who seemed like a regular patron, pulled up in this old Chevy and yanked an Irish flag out of the trunk. He stuck it to the trunk lid with suction cups. The most famous establishment of Grayton Beach, Florida is right across the street -- The Red Bar.
