Walking trough this tranquil and idyllic village reveals many Renaissance facades. Vestiges of even older buildings are also visible, including parts of the medieval fortifications

Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty.

A Kellogg 1000 Series Masterphone telephone, also known as the Redbar telephone - named after the hook switch. It was introduced in 1947 by Kellogg Switchboard and Supply Company. This particular set was from a Kellogg Select-O-Phone dial intercom system.

The sun is making it's way back north across the end of this little pond. I hope a good cloud night happens during the next few days.
perfect view! Had only my small but good Fuji XM1 with me. Handheld panorama shots - stitched in Lightroom.
Odd fact: parrots have a bone running the entire length of their tongue and it is hard on the tip end. Great for chewing on wood. A favorite pastime.
Decided to blow the money I would have otherwise spent on a Stoke Newington Sunday booze session on Chinese takeaway from Red Bar instead.
Red Bar do good Northern style Chinese food and is one of those places where the quirks make the place as much as the quality of the food.
The door never shuts properly and is damn near impossible to open, the waitresses are all babes, they have a karaoke room downstairs which I doubt anyone white has ever seen, they always manage to botch your order (but bring you out something that's even better than what you wanted) and their English menus don't correspond to the actual items in Chinese—Clemens and I went there hungover like all hell and ordered a dish which was supposed to have aubergine and pork. What the waitress brought out was covered in seafood which was not the first thing you want when you're nursing a degenerate Friday night aftermath.
When quizzed the (very cute) waitress said that the seafood dish is actually what we ordered, but for some reason the menu lists the Chinese seafood in English as "pork".
Chicken of the sea I can understand, but pig?

Fake "smoke" from obscure jets in the ceiling gave the room an old-timey club feel without the cancer risk. Hooray.
