Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Monday is bookmark.
As you might know by now, I have a collection (yes, another one) of prayers books and old bibles. Since those kind of books were mass produced they have almost no monetary value. But I love the craftsmanship that went in those books and also all the history behind them. I like to think about people who used those books and what or who were they praying for… I’m not a religious person and as a matter of fact I have books from all kinds of religions in my collection. The book you see in my picture is a pocket version of a french prayers book from the 1960. It is 3,5 cm thick. And most importantly it has this awesome multicolored bookmark…

Today is a red day at Color my World daily Group and we celebrate spirals at Macro Mondays.
This is a hand made paper red spiral. I did it all by myself instead of folding laundry or baking cookies for my adorable kids… And I must admit it took me some time to get it the way I wanted (and also I’m not very talented with paper and spirals and scissors…so I had a few gin & tonics to motivated myself for this picture). I guess the laundry will have to wait for another day… Well that is the spiral of life ;-) !

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and we celebrate pins at Macro Mondays.
Of course: safety pin is my choice for this theme. I can’t tell you how many times a tiny safety pin saved my life. And I’m not alone in this situation, just ask MacGyver (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacGyver), I’m sure this guy was saved more than once by a safety pin! So here we go: my picture shows my love and eternal gratitude for safety pins and their inventor !! Thank you so much tiny safety pin for helping me daily, keeping things together and not falling apart!
I’m officially on vacation, so I apologize for being on and off for the next few weeks (yes I have several weeks of vacation each year, isn’t that awesome?) and since my 2 sons are also on vacation my entire schedule is doomed … I will try to catch up as soon as possible my friends!!

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Monday is candy.
Who likes Peppermint candies ? Red Lady does for sure ! Since she, desperately, tries to lose weight, Red Lady avoids candies … Unfortunately for her, candies do not avoid her… Red Lady sees candies everywhere. When she walks outside: bam ! There is a candy laying on the sidewalk… When she goes to the store: the candies counter is huge and very, very colorful and you have to pass trough it to reach the vegetables section… When she browses the internet: candies everywhere ! While waiting for the bus: candies, candies and some more candies…Every person at the bust stop eats candies… In her dreams, Red Lady sees her favorite of all times: peppermint candies… And they are huge in her dreams… Well, they are about 1,5cm of diameter but since Red Lady is tiny, peppermint candies are huge and very heavy for her…
I’m exactly like Red Lady right now… i try to avoid alcohol and candies but unfortunately for me, those 2 things are everywhere where I go… Wish me luck !!

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and we celebrate Geometry Shapes at Macro Mondays.
Red lady always hated geometry… especially as a subject in school. She was always the less skilled one in geometry. And the geometry teacher was a pain in the a**ss. However, now, after few years on this Earth, Red Lady loves when things are geometrically perfect or at least very, very symmetrical and closed by very define boundaries. That is why, she decided to visite this modern art exposition about geometric shapes. As you can see in this picture, she felt in love with this modern and very geometric floating sculpture called : « floating geometry ». I hope you will like it as well.
Since I have a video meeting, I will not be able to show you other pictures from this exposition this morning. But who knows, maybe we will have another geometric picture in a future…

Today is a red day at Color my world Daily and we celebrate holes at Macro Mondays. And since I’m addicted to eggs, I decided to photograph a hole in one of my eggshells. It is a very rare geological phenomena and it occurs only once in every 1 567 890 eggshells. The hole is the result of very weak shell structure and we believe that it is directly linked with the tiny chicken curiosity. The more curious the chick the more holes formations in an eggshell will occur. So I was very lucky to be able to take a picture of such a rare phenomena just in time for Macro Mondays !! And just to show you how beautiful it looks under a macro lens (or extension tubes in this case) , a tiny heart is visible at the other end of the eggshell. I hope you will like it !

Today is a red day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is tradition. As we all know, Red Lady just finished to set up her Christmas tree. She is super late : usually the Christmas tree is up at the beginning of December but this year is an exception. This delay is caused by a total lack of christmasy feeling this year ( blame it on the pandemic… ). However, the Christmas tree is one tradition Red Lady wants to maintain at any cost ! Even if she has to set up the tree at the very last minute, 23h55 on December the 23rd, she will do it !

I’m choosing the « pull » theme. As a mother of two boys you become an expert in male psychology but also an expert in pulling at stuck zippers. You have no idea how many zippers my kids destroyed just by pulling at them like there is no tomorrow ! Where does this force comes from ? i have no idea but I must admit that my boys aren’t very delicate with zippers… So here is my ode to stuck zippers. I’m pretty much sure that right now, there is, somewhere in this world, a little boy screaming : « Mommmm can you pull my zipper ? It is stuck again ! ».

I had lots of concepts and ideas for my fork picture so I took a gazillion pictures…I have to warn you: you might see several forks pictures on this Photostream in the future… I must admit I like this theme very much. But since I’m back on my diet / personal challenge, there is no food on my fork today. I was afraid I would end up eating my props and then sabotaging my personal goal of loosing some pandemic fat…But luckily for me, no props were harmed or eaten during this photo session…

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily Group and Macro Mondays theme is “pick two”. We had a list of colors and a list of items, and we have to choose one in each list and end up with two picks.
And luckily for me red was on the colors list (maybe I should get a lotto ticket ??? ). My second pick is a bottle cap. And Coca-Cola Caps are the best for a red day, don’t you think ??

Today is a red day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is behind glass. So I decided to use my vintage glasses and my very pale tiny people. When i see people talking behind a glass, I always wonder what are they talking about…. Maybe they just met… maybe they are in love but for some obscure reasons, they must break up… maybe they just talk about their love for Nutella or gin and tonic… Or maybe they just ask themselves who the heck is that lady, standing on the other side of the window and looking at them very intensely ? Who knows ? Not me, I’m very bad at reading lips…

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a red day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is treasured. Since I lost my wedding band at my home exactly 14 years ago…my most treasured ring is the one my husband gave me in Cuba on our 20th weeding anniversary (in 2019 ;-)). It is made from a silver spoon and it has the name of the iconic Habana Hilton logo engraved inside…It was about 8$ ....We love Cuba and this ring has such awesome symbolic for us and it is a great piece of Cuban history (Habana Hilton hotel is a huge part of this country history and if you want to know more about it see this link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryp_Habana_Libre).
I already showed my ring several times on this Photostream but I hope you will like this version. And while in my head, I’m somewhere on a beautiful Cuban beach, my body has to join another video meeting this morning…

Today is Monday !! I repeat : MONDAY….Dose it matter ? I dont think so but we have a red day ahead at Color my world Daily and numbers are the theme at Macro Mondays.
And as you may already know, numbers and me aren’t good together. I’m very bad with numbers in any shape, color and form. I have no memory for numbers which makes it worst… So I’m really bad with money, cellphones numbers, dates, even my scale, and passwords with numbers in it… My husband is the one taking charge of numbers at our house. And so far he is perfect for this role !
As far as I can remember: i always hated maths and numbers lol. Which was a great disappointment to my parents who are architects and both are very good with numbers… But, apparently you cannot have everything in life ! And I have other qualities (or at least it is what i like to think about myself… lol) !!!
So here is my very random, interpretation of « numbers ». 332, 333 and 926… but wait … maybe it is a signe and i should buy a lotto ticket ???? Let me know what do you think. Does it look like some lucky numbers or not ?

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is Sun Safety. It is my first day of work after my vacation and my tan is rather very dark… I must admit I’m not very good at following all the sun safety rules… But I use a lip protection very often. Few years ago, while on vacation in Cuba I had a very, very impressive sunburn on my lips and ears (yes, it is possible!! Next day, my ears were as big as Prince Charles's) and feet (that is also possible !! Trust me !!)…
I must admit it was very painful, especially for my lips, and you should see me the next day. My appearance wasn’t human and few people from the hotel suggested a medical consultation. It was very spectacular (I’m a very pale Polish girl) but after few days of looking like a lobster and many, many bottles of rhum, I was back to normal.
So here is my picture for this theme. A girl (me ??) on a giant lip balm. For your information: the miniature « me » is about 0,6cm heigh and she is a nudist (I’m not !! Just to clarify !!) since I had to complete her bikini… we are on a family friendly Photostream.
But, I have to go since I have a video meeting in few minutes (ohhh how I missed my video meetings !! Of course that is pure irony !!)

We are approaching the traditional end of the harvest season of the old agricultural year and entering into the dark half of the year. At the time of this last harvest, also known as Samhain or Halloween, the hedgerows and trees are bursting with edible fruits, nuts and berries. I've collected just a small selection here for a seasonal still life. Hawthorn, Rosehips, Sweet Chestnuts, Crabapples, Wildings (apples sprouted from discarded apple-cores, often crossed with Crabapples), hazelnuts, acorns (edible if correctly processed), blackberries and Sloes. Many months later I turned this into a set of Artist Trading Cards - to mark the end of a challenge - 101 Bird Challenge - making 101 art pieces about birds in 101 days.
OPA stands for Office of Price Administration
Rationing was first started in 1942. Items that were rationed include canned goods, meats, sugar, coffee, tires, gas and more.
The Office of Price Administration used OPA stamps, coins and chits for rationing.
OPA coins (commonly called OPAs) were used for change for food.
OPAs were used by retailers to give change back for food bought with ration stamps.
Blue tokens were used for processed foods; red tokens for meats and fats.
OPAs were first issued in 1944
Stopped being issued in 1945
Nobody has found a true reason for the letters on the OPA's. Theories include, they are random; demographics; and prevention of counterfitting.
Red letter combinations known. HC, HT, MV, MM, TH, TY, UC, UH, UT, UV, UX, UY, VC, VH, VT, VU, VX, VY, XC, XH, XT, XU, XV, XY, YC, YH, YT, YU, YV, YX.
Blue letter combinations known. CC, CH, CT, CV, CX, HH, HU, HV, HX, HY, TC, TT, TU, TV, TX, UU, VV, WC, WH, WT, WU, WW, XX, YY
The rarest is the red MV. The next rarest are the red MM and the blue WW, WC, WH. Then blue WU, HX and red YC, XC. The rest are fairly easy to find. Reds are a lot more common than blues.
Error OPAs are worth a little more. There is a good example at the end of this page.
Tokens used for rationing during World War II
There are 30 different red tokens and 24 blue ones.
They are all vulacanized fiber (celluloid) and 16mm in size.
Blue ones read: OPA Blue Point 1 (with two different letters)
Red ones read: OPA Red Point 1 (with two different letters)

Testing the firmware settings for "Z Steps per mm" I think I have it dialed in. As you can see the system goes to the commanded position to within 20 microns (0.00078"). (Look at the red mm scale on the dial indicator, each graduation on that scale is 10 microns while a full rotation is 1mm. Also note the deceleration prior to reaching the setpoint to reduce overshoot.)
