The Recognition Banquet honors Goodwill's community partners, employees and program participants, including the Achiever and Graduate of the Year
The City of Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz presented recognitions and appreciation certificates for the service and contributions made by those volunteers appointed by Mayor Saenz to 38 Advisory and City Committees during the Mayor’s tenure.
Additionally, Council recognized Mr. Carlos Luna, a former Director of the J.W. Nixon High School Band from 1984 to 2014. Mr. Luna and his students received 28 consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards. His concert bands including the J.W. Nixon High School Honors Winds Ensemble won first place and honorable mention awards at festivals in Texas, Washington, D.C., and Colorado. Mr. Luna, his students, and band staff earned recognition at numerous marching band competitions, some of which include UIL Area and State Marching Band Contest rankings. The marching bands, under his direction, advanced from the regional level to UIL Area and State Marching Band Contest on several occasions. His band was a consistent TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) State Honor Band contender for many years, ranking as high as eighth place in the State of Texas in Conference 5A, which is now the new 6A classification. During his 35 years in music education, Mr. Luna also served LISD as band coordinator and director of fine arts. He was also previously inducted into the TMEA Region XIV South Texas Band Directors Hall of Fame in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Lastly, Lisa Kristina was recognized by Council for her community outreach volunteer participation and work through COVID-19 vaccine drives, purchasing and making COVID-19 kits and distributing over 500 kits throughout the community. Lisa Kristina is a medical school candidate who assisted our community in vaccinating over 3,000 individuals. Her volunteer work and participation in our community has not gone unnoticed.

Members of the Virginia Air National Guard’s recruiting team receive recognition May 28, 2014, in Sandston, Va., for being one of the top recruiting and retention programs in the region. The team earned the Region IV Golden Eagle State Award, awarded to the retention program with the highest production rate in the region, which was presented by Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long Jr, the Adjutant General of Virginia.
Several of the Airmen were also recognized individually.
Master Sgt. Neil Keane was recognized as the Region IV Recruiting and Retention Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, which recognizes the top NCO in the region and recognizes their program as one of the best.
Senior Master Sgt. Angela Hill was recognized as the Region IV Recruiting and Retention Superintendent of the Year for superior production and program management for the Virginia Air National Guard’s recruiting team.
Air National Guard Half Master Gold Badges were also presented to the recruiters in recognition of their top spot on this year’s regional recruiting rankings.
Following the presentation of awards to the recruiters, the recruiting team took time to recognize Long, who retires at the end of May, for his many years of service and his support to the Air National Guard’s recruiting team.

The 60th Air Mobility Wing and 349th Air Mobility Wing welcomed their newest chief master sergeants during a Chiefs Recognition Ceremony, Mar. 4, 2023, at Travis Air Force Base, California. The event was highlighted by a symbolic nine-candle lighting performed by Reserve Citizen Airmen with the rank of basic airman through chief master sergeant.

Our friend, Julie, is graduating from the Valdosta State University School of Nursing with the December 2006 class. On Friday evening, December 8, 2006, a Recognition Ceremony and Reception were held at The University Center.
On Monday, May 8, Irvine Valley College hosted its first Employee Recognition Ceremony at the irvine Valley College Performing Arts Center, recognizing the various employees of the year and IVC board-approved tenured faculty. Congratulations to all our service pin recipients, our employees of the year, and our new tenured faculty.
