Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and its core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, as "Historic Centre of Oporto, Luiz I Bridge and Monastery of Serra do Pilar". The historic area is also a National Monument of Portugal. The western part of its urban area extends to the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Its settlement dates back many centuries, when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire. Its combined Celtic-Latin name, Portus Cale, has been referred to as the origin of the name Portugal, based on transliteration and oral evolution from Latin. In Portuguese, the name of the city includes a definite article: o Porto ("the port") which is where its former English name "Oporto" comes from.

Port wine, one of Portugal's most famous exports, is named after Porto, since the metropolitan area, and in particular the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, were responsible for the packaging, transport, and export of fortified wine. In 2014 and 2017, Porto was elected The Best European Destination by the Best European Destinations Agency. Porto is on the Portuguese Way path of the Camino de Santiago.

Lyrics

Light wonders through endless shadows

Awake inside a dream will I follow

Break the silence

Break the silence

Break the silence, In me

I feel the burning sun

A fire in my lungs

I taste the bitterness

All I see is red

I hear the siren sing

This is everything

This is everything

This is the reckoning

Break the silence

Break the silence

Break the silence, In me....

🌺My hubby and I visited Oxygen Summer of 42 a few nights ago; and yes---my mind's eye went crazy when we happened upon this mermaid. So, once more this pic reflects what my mind saw!!!🌺

I've been wrapped up in chasing butterflies, so this an old one, from one of those times when you have to decided whether to flee or hold your ground. I normally turn my back to the rain and wait for those special moments. this was mid shower when a rainbow started to form. In the Final Reckoning is by Ian Felice.

Thank you for watching,

kind regards,

Christophe

Mr. Obvious suggested that I make a diptych out of "reckoning" & "swept." (Hooray for Flickr collaboration!) Intrigued by the image in his mind's eye, a moved both files into photoshop and began to assemble. (My first go at a standard dip is in the comments below) But then Tony's "love your hair" comment popped into my head -- and suddenly this was inevitable.

And, sorry folks, I can't help myself -- the song will be stuck in (to?) my head all night.

And while I'm at it, for the Rogue Players & Monochrome.

E-Type - Campione 🎧

It's time to get together

We're a dreamteam, folks

Steam all the way across the land

We got ourselves a landslide

Coming up the gathering is here

And the reckoning is here

Take a stand

There can be only one

There can be only one

Well, there can be only one

There can be only one

Campione, campione olé olé olé

Campione, campione olé olé olé

No way can stop us now

We're on the move so here we go

Get on up you've got nowhere to hide

We're going all the way now

Full attack, no turning back

There is no second chance

All aboard for the ride

There can be only one . . .

A new day over Reckoning House Farm, Watnall, Nottinghamshire

So, what would you do if you saw storm clouds gathering overhead as if the end of the world was near...?

1) Head for shelter.

2) Stop and stare in amazement.

3) Grab your camera and start shooting.

For most of us here at Flickr, the answer is way too easy....

Doesn't matter if the Weather Gods aren't playing their parts, there is still a drama to be witnessed.

Frosty winter crops - Reckoning House Farm, Watnall Nottinghamshire

Dawn doesn’t creep in here, it erupts. The first light tears open the horizon with a molten brilliance that feels almost too bold for morning. The Atlantic holds its breath as the sun forces its way through a barricade of brooding clouds, each one rimmed in fire like they’re being judged and found wanting. This isn’t the soft, watercolor sunrise Florida is famous for. This is a declaration of intent.

The sky glows with a fierce palette deep ember red, volcanic oranges, and that impossible gold that only appears when night is still clinging to the edges of the world. The clouds twist and coil like they’re trying to decide whether to surrender or strike back. Their shadows stretch across the water, long and reluctant, as if they know their time is up.

Below, the ocean stays unnervingly calm, reflecting the chaos above with a quiet confidence. It’s the stillness that feels ancient, like the sea has seen a thousand mornings like this and knows exactly how the story ends. The ripples catch the light in thin, trembling lines, turning the surface into a living canvas of fire and shadow.

This sunrise doesn’t just mark the start of a new day. It feels like a threshold a moment where the world resets, breathes in, and dares you to step forward with it. You don’t simply watch this scene. You stand inside it, changed by it, claimed by it.

I was lucky to receive the freedom of the keys to this Church after receiving an invite. This is the inside of my previous upload "Woodpeckers".

I have asked for permission to share this on Flickr but after two weeks I have no reply. Maybe the rev. is busy with Church business. So I have had to make a decision and by my reckoning this belongs to everyone...so here it is...just hope John approves.

A slightly different perspective of a dandelion. The focus is on the very tips of the seeds which gives an impression of fireworks or an erupting volcano. It's all in the imagination.

Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub

Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer

Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub

Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer

Since dawn of time the fate of man is that of lice

Equal as parasites and moving without eyes

A day of reckoning when penance is to burn

Count down together now and say the words that you will learn

Hail Satan, Archangelo

Hail Satan, Welcome year zero

Hail Satan, Archangelo

Hail Satan, Welcome year zero

Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub

Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer

Crestfallen kings and queens comforting in their faith

Unbeknownst to them is the presence of the wraith

Since fate of man is equal to the fate of lice

As new dawn rises you shalt recognize now behold the Lord of Flies

Archangelo

Hail Satan, welcome year zero

Hail Satan

He will tremble the nations

Kingdoms to fall one by one

A victim to fall for temptations

A daughter to fall for a son

The ancient serpent deceiver

To masses standing in awe

He will ascend to the heavens

Above the stars of God

Hail Satan, Archangelo

Hail Satan, welcome year zero

Hail Satan, Archangelo

Hail Satan, welcome year zero

A vast body of water lies beneath a sky thick with judgment—clouds layered like ancient grief, light breaking through in fractured defiance. The surface shimmers, not with peace, but with warning. In the corner, tree limbs reach like witnesses, framing a scene that feels more reckoning than reflection. This is not serenity. It’s the moment before something is named. The atmosphere is heavy, sacred, and unresolved. The water remembers. The sky watches. And the silence between them is not empty—it’s waiting.

I like your reckoning, but we got our methods

And there's nothing here to stop, to stop this

If you want we'll help tonight to split its seams

Give the bruises out like gifts

You'll get the picture of your dreams

I won't be smiling

But the notes from my admirers

Fill the dashboard just the same

Romans 6:11-13 King James Version (KJV)

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
