The subject of the photo is me dunking on my basketball hoop. My reasoning for choosing this subject is because I wanted to capture human motion by dunking on a basketball hoop. The ISO and shutter speed I used were a 1375 ISO, and a 1/2100 shutter speed. I used such a high shutter speed because I wanted to freeze motion, so a high shutter speed was a must. The freezing motion makes the photo look sharp and crisp around the edges. Also, the high shutter speed lets in less light, and with it being a sunny day, I needed less light so the photo was not overexposed. I had to use a high ISO to brighten the image up because I was standing in the shade. My process of creating this shot was to run up from the right to the left and dunk on the hoop. I tried this first from right in front of the hoop, but my cameraman was standing in the sun, and with it being mid-day, the backgrounds of the photos were very bright, and I was getting deep shadows on my person. I took about eight shots that way, and then I told the photographer to move in front of the hoop and stand in the shade. I did the same process of dunking, and this time the background was not over exposed. What I don't like about the photo is that I could've gotten a little closer to the hoop and more directly in front of it to capture my arm cocking backwards.

Misguided quantitative reasoning. What it says: "University study: only 3% of students had written goals. Twenty years later, the same 3% were wealthier than the other 97% combined." Unfortunately, apart from confusing causation and correlation, the study is completely fabricated: www.fastcompany.com/online/06/cdu.html

My thought is...this little fawn is a baby buck. Some fawns are more skittish than others.......kind of hard to justify the sex without positive id but....bucks tend to be a little more elusive than does. Reasoning would have it.....even at this age this tendency is well grooved into the whitetail genetics.

Photo captured 18 June 2010

Fairground, lit by the bonfire. I think the reasoning went like this:

"Hm. Last year, the bonfire took more than 20 second to get going properly. This year, we should make sure it catches quickly. I know - lets soak it in something flammable. Diesel fuel. There's a good idea".

What actually happened is that for 4 minutes, everyone stayed low and most people left as the thick black smoke drifted across the field... and then we had a fire about 4 floors tall.

I don't have a title for this;my reasoning is so that you can imagine your own.

By the sea is one of my favourite places to be. To sit and hear nothing but the sound of the waves crashing. The peaceful surrounding and the fresh air cleanses;refreshes the mind and sweeps away any worries.

I love to sit and watch the waves crash down and then the ripples of water almost reaching for my toes. Next time if it is a big one, it may reach.

To close my eyes and drift away to the sound, dream a dream, imagining a life that could be, a life that is but do we really see it;appreciate it?

1. The element for this photo is space. My reasoning is that everything is further apart from each other and that's what gives the space in this photo.

2. The subject matter in this photo would be the calm river with the trees on the side and houses on the other side.

3. The aspect that is the most visually appealing is the trees and mountains in the back. My reasoning is because of how it looks and how the nature looks very calming and peaceful.

4. Next time i take this photo I could take photos from different angles so I see if the photo gets improved or worse.

The Reasoning at The Robin 2 (or Bilston International Arena, as Rachel calls it)

I walked around at Flatrock park, in Midland, GA on Monday, 1/8/2024. I heard what sounded like a hawk or eagle or some other bird of prey, but I didn't spot whatever it was.

I did walk around the large granite table, and the portion where the tiny waterfall-type feature is. There were a few spots I couldn't jump without getting wet, so I walked around and hiked the hills while taking photos of the watershed. Plenty of small pools of water, and lots of rock outcrops of interest. There are places where erosion made some interesting shapes in the granite as well.

I always like the tabletop during sunset, but there was so much cloudcover I didn't see the sunset clearly.

There were spots where I noticed the trees starkly missing and replacing the treeline in the background with ugly apartment buildings. Another section of the park, the treeline was pretty much decimated, and you could see bare mud and bulldozed trees. I saw at least two ugly box-shaped buildings sticking out of the mud just beyond the walking trail. I wish they wouldn't build around the parks or bulldoze the woodland in the parks. Several years ago, they chopped up a large portion of the trees in Cooper Creek Park to make way for tennis courts. Probably reasoning that photography isn't very popular, and nature walks and birding isn't that popular, either. People love sports, though. I'm not saying that they should or should not build facilities, or houses, or factories, or condos or apartments, I'm just saying I'd rather look at trees and birds and foxes and raccoons, and deer, and blue birds, and wild flowers, and scenic treelines than see yet another ugly box-like building ruining the skyline, or another factory or warehouse or treatment plant or whatnot peeking through a thin line of trees. I miss nature.

So, yeah, this isn't a call to arms or anything, but I wish I had more places I could go within the city that don't remind me of the city. You know?
