Through a DIAMOND LEADED WINDOW, in very poor light, but thank God, it came out reasonable well, hope you agree, this Woodpecker, normally flies straight to the peanut feeders, and straight off again, but this day he went a short distance to one of my trees, and stayed for a few minutes. Grabbed my camera, could not open the window, as knew this would spook him, put the ISO up to 1600, and fired away. At the time did think these would only be record images. Seen Minster Thanet Kent.

Sad times for the (Boeing B377 conversion) project started to get this old Super Guppy back into a reasonable condition and to get some new engines, sadly due to the sale of Bruntingthorpe Airfield this veteran of the skies will soon be scrapped.
Previous owner was Airbus who used it to run Airbus parts between factories and she was replaced by the Airbus Beluga.

The front end of this veteran is now at the South Wales Aviation Museum SWAM, the remainder has been scrapped.

This blue hour photograph was taken downstream of River Ousse, with reflections of the Pau Castle, bridge and surrounding buildings under overcast clouds. There was a small spillway that slowed the flow near to the river bank which resulted in reasonable reflections in the foreground.
This morning the sun popped up from a clear sky, and amazing visibility. Things couldn't get any better. Then four Brent geese flew by over the sea!
I was standing with somebody who suggested I take a photo. Nope. Nearly all the carefully framed shots yesterday were incredibly grainy, despite an ISO of 100 and slow shutter speed. Why does this kind of thing happen to photographers?...
This is one taken towards the end of that session. I think it's reasonable. Compared to the others...
Ever had something amazing occur before your eyes and be stuck with only your phone camera. It happened to me yesterday as this majestic rainbow appeared over the Golden Gate. Normally I would not try to fix the poor quality image created by the phone but discard it, this however is such a rare event I have done my best to make something of it:) I applied an oil paint filter in photoshop and tweaked color and contrast a little to create what I think a reasonable artful picture.Because I just had to share!!! Happy thanksgiving !!
I was happy to get any sort of shot consideing I was on a boat in a reasonable swell and the Bald Eagle was some distance away! Taken on our wildlife cruise in Bar Harbor.
Unfortunately the sun was so strong that morning. And I over exposed the shot. So I had to do a heavy treatment to make this picture look even somewhat reasonable. But I think at least you can see the framing I was trying to achieve. :)
Drenching of the Model Boating Pond in Parliament Hill exposed a long forgotten car from the 70's or 80's.
May need a little attention here and there but the tyres are still in pretty good nick and comes with a full tank. First reasonable offer will secure. Call now to reserve. :-))

Roman church (Santa Maria in Cosmedin) and Roman temple. The temple is known as the temple of Portunus (it has also been called Temple of Fortuna Virilis - but the dedication to the harbour-god Portunus is now the generally favoured one). This is one of the best preserved Roman temples there is. The building that still stands dates to around 80-70 B.C. - replacing an older temple on the same spot. The temple survived because it was converted to a church (St. Mary - in around 872) and in the 16th century it was given to an order of Armenian monks who kept it in reasonable good shape.

After hours of searching for reasonable instructions, guides, and help, this represents my first attempt to stack three photos.
I ended up with a dense and just as shallow macro as usual. I need to a) increase or more radically change focus points; b) find out how to stack, since I used photomerge and ended up with what Adobe named a panorama; 42) use a tripod instead of my monopod or elbows–can’t recall which now; and c) find out more about stacking for this old version of Photoshop 6.
I do not want to pay Adobe monthly fees for CC.
I will try again. Perhaps.

I think, with reasonable doubt, it is Austin Motor Company J2 Omnivan from 1962. There are not probably too many around, and the only way I identified it was, that Austin sponsored Canadian Race Communication Association, which is the emblem on the side of the vehicle. I am really proud of myself. Such vans were used for milk, bread delivery and even as a police or school vehicle.

The Quiraing (in Gaelic: A' Chuith-Raing) on the Isle of Skye really should be visited to appreciate it's Immensity and "other worldliness" . We were lucky to get reasonable light on a visit last week.
While I have gone to some extremes in shooting at night, most of them have been semi-reasonable, but this one: this was a whole new ball of wax. With vines and trees growing so thick that finding a clear edge of the water was a quest, wading in water with my boots hoping it wouldn't pour over the top, testing each step before committing. At a familiar location, I can be set up in 10 minutes, this was anything but. Over an hour working my way through the thick undergrowth and murky water, the wait of my target began. Getting one train to test my set up yielded positive results, and some minor tweaking, what might be the simplest looking night shot I have done in a long time, was without a doubt the largest shot I have ever done and the hardest, all for a less than perfect reflection, but perfect enough because I will never do that set up ever again.
I know that just like humans are left or right handed elephants favour the use of one tusk. What this can do is bend the tusk a little, however the rear of this pair has an extremely long straight right tusk. I have looked this subject up online and failed to come up with a reasonable explanation.

Named for its rigorous patrol of hedges and woodland rides, the gatekeeper butterfly is a prime pollinator. Look for them sipping nectar on sunny days in the summer.
This butterfly rests with its wings open, so the underside is less frequently visible. The male, shown here, has broad sex brands, comprising scent-producing scales known as androconia, on its forewings; the female has no such strips and is evidently much more of an orange butterfly. Unlike many 'browns', the Gatekeeper often rests with its wings open, which is very helpful when you are trying to determine the gender of a Gatekeeper. There is a wingspan difference between the sexes - but who can estimate size with any degree of accuracy when a butterfly is in flight? Males, with their wingspan typically 4cm, are slightly smaller than females, which usually have a wingspan of about 4.5cm
.Also known as the Hedge Brown butterfly, the Gatekeeper is fond of brambly hedgerows and ragwort-infested scrubland where nectar-bearing flowers are plentiful.
This short-lived butterfly of high summer emerges from the beginning of July onwards but by the end of August there are very few if any left to see.
Gatekeepers are seen throughout England, but they are more abundant in southern counties. In Wales the Gatekeeper is fairly common in the south and west but is less frequently seen the further north you go. In Scotland the Gatekeeper is seen very rarely, and the same is true of most of Ireland, although along the coastal strip of southern Ireland there are reasonable numbers of this lovely golden butterfly.
Lifecycle
The larval foodplants of the Gatekeeper are various grasses, in particular the various bents (Agrostis spp), meadow-grasses (Poa spp) and fescues (Festuca spp). The egg-laying habitat is rough grassland at hedged field margins, in woodland rides, fire breaks and larger clearings, and in scrubby grassland and wasteland where bushes have sprung up among grasses.
Female Gatekeepers drop their straw-yellow eggs from the air onto or near to suitable grass tussocks, generally in the shade of a small bush or a hedge. The eggs darken and become mottled brown-grey as, over a period of two to three weeks, the larvae develop inside the egg case. Once they have eaten their way out of the egg case, the tiny caterpillars consume their foodplant during daylight. After the first moult, the caterpillars crawl deep down into the base of their grass tussock and there they hibernate until the following spring. On waking, the green (sometimes brown) caterpillars become nocturnal feeders. They pupate in June or early July after their fourth moult, and the adult butterflies emerge from their chrysalises about three weeks later.
There are small white spots in the grey-brown mottling on the hindwing of the Gatekeeper. The Southern Gatekeeper, Pyronia cecila, is similar, but it has a more silvery mottled underside to its rear hindwings without the white spots.
That is a reasonable conclusion once you see the two huts and the swimming white ducks there even though the recluse is nowhere to be found... The truth being, some people are still left behind economically despite the Chinese government already succeeded in taking 700 million out of poverty in China.

salt lake The lake lies at an elevation of 4,718 m, and has a surface area of 1,870 square kilometres. It is the highest salt lake in the world, and largest salt lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region. However, it is not the largest salt lake in the Tibetan Plateau. That title belongs to KokoNor མཚོ་སྔོན་ མཚོ་ཁྲི ་ཤོར་རྒྱལ་མོ་ (almost twice the size of Namtso). Namtso has five uninhabited islands of reasonable size, in addition to one or two rocky outcrops. The islands have been used for spiritual retreat by pilgrims who walk over the lake's frozen surface at the end of winter, carrying their food with them. Once a reasonable common sight but no longer so.
Agile and fast, this bird hunts for its prey along the verge of waterways or the roc ky coast.
I often wonder if the so called self introduced White faced Heron has displaced this bird.
As a boy in Tologa bay, I well remember watching perhaps a dozen Blue's flying in and out of the caves created by wind and wave action in which they nested.
Today non are seen there.
Im obviously lying in the water to get the shot using my old D7000 while my usual camera is away for servicing.....
An older image reposted as Im unable to get about doing what I love due to family illness which limits me at this time, so please excuse me if a repeat image "pops up " again...
In the courtyard of the castle of Chasselas, we can better appreciate the architectural interest of the whole, as shown by the two towers which throne on one side of the building in the photo.
There was a cellar, and I tasted with a very pleasant women. She taught me that we were still in Burgundy, not yet in Beaujolais, and that they produce mostly Saint-Véran wine there.
It also seems that during the french Revolution, the villagers almost burned down the castle. They did not do it in the end, because they were afraid for their houses.
The two Saint-Véran wines that I tasted were famous, so I took a box of them. The shop had also many red wines: all the big names in Beaujolais wines (Fleury, Saint-Amour, etc.), but also great red wines from Burgundy (Pommard, Gevrey Chambertin, Alex Corton, etc.) which are usually only found in the Beaune region and in its surrounding cellars, or otherwise at prohibitive prices at wine merchants. It's rare to find so many quality choice in a cellar. they were in general at reasonable prices given the quality of the wines.
As I had to buy some wine to age it, I left with two other boxes of wine, one of Beaujolais wines, and one for the Burgundy Grands Crus . I have a good wine cellar at home, I plan to drink the great Burgundy wines in about ten years, I still have other great wines in reserve until then.
During the month of May, they are having an special day at the castle, I think I will go there again, and why not visit the cellars of the castle at that time, it is done only by appointment.

Stonechats also live only five hundred meters from my front door. But they don't come into the gardens, they love the ring of reeds on the irrigation ditch in front of our village. They are (at least in my area) quite shy and it is not easy to get close to them. However, this male was busy singing and so I was able to photograph him with a reasonable number of pixels again.
To view this picture with the best resolution in full screen press the "l" (small L) and F11 keys. When enlarging the pic by just mouse clicking you lose quality. Enjoy!

After a full day spent with Colin the Cuckoo - decided to see if I could find any wobblers. A rece the evening before gave me a reasonable idea where there was an active pair and I returned the following morning to stand and wait a respectful distance away from where I thought they were nesting. Have never managed to get a shot with a male bringing in caterpillars before - as I usually go after them in March when there are none about.
Thursley Common, Surrey.
Nobody blinked and everyone is in reasonable focus. Some history: These birds nested in Bronte Marsh. On May 13 five eggs were present. Two chicks were observed on June 3. On June 6 there were four chicks and one egg. The next day the nest with its egg were abandoned and the family moved to Bronte Beach on Lake Ontario where this photo was taken.
Oakville, Ontario
A rare sight in the UK, Most Siberian breeding Long-billed Dowitchers likely migrate to the Americas during the winter.
A first for me, one of two birds I was looking for, the other being a Stilt Sandpiper, managed to locate them both at a great distance away, managed a few shots of this one but decided to go for a walk round and return later, lo and behold the Dowitcher appeared quite close enabling me to get these decent shots, however the Stilt Sandpiper never came anywhere near for a reasonable shot so it was one out of two !
Frampton Marsh, Lincolnshire
A very pretty view of Benidorm, Spain, like it or hate it, the weather is delightful all winter, almost everyone is multilingual, it's easy to find an open restaurant or a shop at all hours, prices are reasonable, the catch is, it looks like this...... well, it has a unique beauty even in concrete.
I haven't done an oil and water shot for a long time and had to have a few tries before I began to get reasonable results. I like the pastel colours in this one.

Getting a reasonable close up of this superb dragonfly earlier was an exercise in patience. Every time I got close it either got attacked by a rival male or got blown off its perch by a gust of wind! Taken at Centenary Riverside Nature Reserve, Rotherham.
With a reasonable amount of ascent behind me the route levels off as you pass Rough Crag. This photo was taken at this point and looks towards High Street, also known as Racehorse Hill. The body of water nestled in the bowl below is Blea Water.
Riparia riparia >The Sand Martin, I spent six hours today trying to get a reasonable in flight shot, battling with the lack of light the sunny spells were few and far between, these things move so quick and are quite small so getting them in the frame and in focus is a bit of a challenge to say the least! :)

Visited friends in the Rothbury area yesterday and took a stroll across the hills. Lovely sunset and thankfully in a reasonable lace to see it. (iPhone shot processed in Snapseed.)
Female Common Kingfisher. It was a wonderful summer / Autumn for these stunning birds, at least compared with some years when you sit for 4 hours and get one flypast. So unfortunately have a lot of photos not yet posted.
Taken with (only my opinion of course) the best value bird photography lens out there - providing you a reasonable amount of light.
This is Cissbury ring in Sussex, An Iron Age hill fort was constructed here around 400BC it`s incredibly hilly and commands stunning views to all points of the compass. I initially came up here to scout out a possible sunset location here for the summer months after seeing this tree which sits on North Western edge of the ring.
For this image on a cold dark windy day day I used the chalk path as a lead in line, I though at the time this maybe a reasonable spot to catch a sunset. So last night I went back to catch sunset here and after the climb up the hill which is a good work out I was rewarded with some rather lovely images across a wide valley to some hills and a lovely sky beyond,I`ll post some images shortly.
When I visited St Aidans the other day I was lucky to have bright sunny weather. The Swallows and Sand Martins were out in force so I decided to have a go at photographing them in flight. Alas this is the best of my Sand Martin photos. Now, I know they are super fast but I have seen a reasonable number of fabulous in flight photos on Flickr, so what am I doing wrong? It must boil down to my auto focus settings.
I am using AF-C with a wide focus area, a fast shutter speed with a lowish ISO. I also increased the exposure bias, in this case by 1.7. I have opened up my EXIF data, so if anyone can make any recommendations or point me in the right direction please feel free to do so. I am sure that instead of using the "Wide" focus area I have also previously tried the "Zone" setting.
Whoever is late is punished by life - unfortunately, this saying also applies to this motif in Sinngrün in the Upper Palatinate. While last year the cut was generously cut free only last year, in late summer of this year it showed itself already overgrown again. In the meantime, one can only take a reasonable picture by climbing a high ladder. I did this on September 12, 2020, to photograph the 152 057 with its container train KT 50348 from Regensburg East to Altenwerder East there.
First time getting reasonable shots of these guys! Interesting fact:Of the world's 85 sandpiper species, only the Solitary Sandpiper and the Green Sandpiper of Eurasia routinely lay eggs in tree nests instead of on the ground, and is the least studied of the sandpipers due to it,s remote breeding locations, and the fact that they usually migrate alone!
I had a super shoot on this occasion , a great sky and a reasonable tide too so that I got some nice reflections.
In Ottakring, Vienna's 16th district
This almost 1 km long street market, open daily except Sundays, is very popular for its reasonable prices and the quality of its goods.
