Reading is a means of language acquisition, of communication, and of sharing information and ideas.
It is a complex interaction between the text and the reader which is shaped by the reader’s prior knowledge, experiences, attitude, and language community which is culturally and socially situated.
We all love readings. The foundry of learning, the origin of intellectual development. Enjoy your reading time, friends ;-)
6:20 p.m., Euston Station, London. The 6:17 to Glasgow was late, and no platform was announced yet. The waiting area (just behind me here) was packed with people standing and looking up at the Departure board. Meanwhile, Mollie was reading 'Gallows Thief', by Bernard Cornwell, with her suitcase propped up beside her. She says the book is very good.

This is my last photo in the Jefferson series (2008). I took it from across the basin by the Capitol Mall in Washington, D.C.
Jefferson on education:

Jefferson believed strongly in education for all, freely provided. He was an avid reader and his library was extensive, covering every possible subject. He loved learning and wanted us all to share knowledge unselfishly and generously for the betterment of everyone.
If only that could be said of us all.
