Episode XIII
Hi Folks,
It’s me, LIM – there was so much going on with Christmas Decoration that I just could not go on hibernating, no chance, as I did not want to miss the best season of the year! Well, SHE was not amused but finally agreed hibernation to be interrupted. You don’t know how boring this hibernation procedure is, and I haven’t got any idea who invented this nonsense. Well, as I said - I was kindly allowed to stop that for the time being. However, I had thought I would be able to enjoy ADVENT, but by the looks of it, I was wrong – just imagine SHE is using me as her Xmas Deco instead of sitting on the sofa with me, cuddling and eating Honey - Did not know that my middle name is DECO – but anything is better than being on my own in the cave and forced to sleep while there is so much on outside in our wonderful world. But that’s life and life is not so easy for a little Bear Boy – hope PLOP will p(l)op in tonight. What will he say seeing me like this ….

The living come with grassy tread
To read the gravestones on the hill;

Depending on your age you may not recognize the man in this picture. He was Ronald Reagan most notably host of the TV series “General Electric Theater” and “Death Valley Days.” Reagan was also a B actor and played in the frankly unbelievable comedy “Bedtime for Bonzo.”
What makes this of interest is that Reagan an otherwise minor, second rate actor is a character in a series of alternate history books (a sub-genre of science fiction) written by Tootie Hurtledore in which--incredibly enough--Reagan is elected governor of California and then (an even bigger stretch) president of the United States! While this makes for an entertaining “what if” read it ignores the fact that Reagan had no background in politics, and that the people of the most powerful nation of the world would never elect a second rate actor and TV host to be their leader. Politics is a profession that requires years of experience, thoughtfulness, intelligence and a certain ability to communicate that Reagan never possessed. For my tastes I prefer my fictional reading to be more believable.

6 - Out of this world, for 117 pictures in 2017
The church of San Lorenzo in Turin. Also known as the Royal Church of San Lorenzo, because it was commissioned by the Savoys, royal family. It is located on the north-west side of the central Piazza Castello, between Via Palazzo di Città and Palazzo Chiablese, adjacent to the Piazzetta of the Royal Palace. The current Baroque structure was the work of Guarino Guarini, carried out between 1668 and 1687.
Some odds and ends I gathered from the internet about house sparrows in the U.S..They were first introduced in NYC in 1851.They are a very adaptable bird and flourish near people. Their numbers increased rapidly.It has been suggested they were introduced to reduce insects, but it was later realized they only feed on insects during nesting season. Their main food source is seed .They have adapted well and now eat a wide variety of food scraps from people.
Early on they were not looked at favorably because they displaced nesting birds such as Eastern Bluebirds and purple martins.The bird earned such a bad reputation that in 1880 a bounty of three cents per bird was made law in Michigan.It was possible to earn $1.50 to $3.00 per day. A lot of money back then.
I was surprised at some of the information I found .. In the mid 1500s they were used a food item and served in sparrow pie. a traditional dish.The oldest recorded life span is 15 years and 9 months.
Because it is such an easy bird to observe they have been the subject of more than 5,000 scientific studies .In recent years there has been an unexplained decline in their numbers ( not in my back yard).
One of my very young neighbors told me it was his favorite bird . I was surprised and asked why. His answer was simple.He said it was because he could always count on seeing it .
