Hello my lovely gentleladies and gentlelords,
it's been a while since I uploaded a picture but I haven't forgotten about you. I hope you'll enjoy this blog post! (*´▽`*)
Dura created new hair for us! This time it's a unisex hair, that comes in three different bang options and will be available at the Man Cave Event - starting on the 17th of July. I love how this hair turned out and how many fine strands it has! Truly stunning. I can't help but to admire Chiaki's work over and over. I'll include a raw preview for you • here •. Feel free to try the demo inworld!
I decided to try another head and skin combo for this picture. I'll share it in the credits below - I hope you guys like it!
Before we continue with the credits, I want to give a huge thanks to Bartazor from Rezz Room for sharing these uber amazing dragons with me, to Dahvie Gloom, for his hard work and these stunning eyes. I'm truly in love with the blue version! (✧ω✧), Eliavah, who recently decided to support the male community with her amazeball skills! Thank you for this outstanding outfit! Chiaki-sensei, for her continuous hard work for unique and amazing hair! ♡ Last but not least I want to give a shout-out and big thanks to Zara and Cerb who helped me with troubleshooting while taking this picture and listened to me whine xD
You guys are amazing!

Hello lovely people (*´▽`*)
I'm proud to present Dura's new hair to you. It'll be released at TMD, starting at the 5th of each month. It's a unisex hair that comes with three styling options. Each more amazing than the other and, oh my, what can I say - the details and fine strands are breathtaking. Dura excelled themselves once again - best to see for yourself and try a free demo inworld.
When I saw the new tiny flame from Mish Mish at Kustom 9, I felt the urge to make the picture themed for Howl's moving castle - one of my very favorite movies from the Ghibli studios. The flame companion is so adorable. I want to thank all the creators for their hard work and releasing unique content for us all to enjoy.
I hope you'll like the new picture!
I wish you an amazing start into the weekend and hopefully see you soon at the event ❤

vivo siempre al borde del escándalo
si me acerco a ti, te hago sonreir
Soy una maquina
soy una maquina
diseñada para gozar.
No camino yo me contoneo
cuando lloro es porque bromeo,
vengo de un pais,
que no teme el porvenir.
Soy una máquina,
diseñada para desear.
Siempre deseo lo que no tengo,
y si lo tengo deso mas,
soy un vaso lleno de agua y de sal.
Siempre emitiendo señales de gusto,
voy tuneada con circuitos de lujo,
siempre dando dando, y no puedo desconectar.
Siempre subiendo temperaturas,
salgo vestida y vuelvo desnuda,
siempre dando dando, y no puedo desconectar.
Soy una máquina,
diseñada para disfrutar.
Soy una máquina,
que se quiere reprogramar.

Perched like a silent saboteur, this crow wasn’t just looking for food—it was unwittingly pulling off the perfect disruption. In one sharp tug, the satellite signal went down, and a living room full of humans stared at a frozen screen, clueless to the culprit above.
They blamed the weather. They cursed the service. But up on the roof, beneath a flawless sky, the real mischief-maker vanished into the blue, mission accomplished—no motive, no witnesses, just a well-timed peck and a twist of fate.
Sometimes, nature doesn’t just coexist with technology…
It reprograms it.

I owned one of these cameras in the early 1990's and it travelled all around the world with me. A lovely camera to use and gave me plenty of lovely images from my adventures. It was a camera I regretted selling as the newer versions I really didn't enjoy anywhere near as much.
After much searching, I finally found a nice example - so many of these the plastics particularly on the grip have deteriorated and are usually badly broken and cracked.
An innovative feature of these was the ability to purchase various 'expansion' cards as pictured. These small almost SD sized cards could be inserted in a door on the side of the camera and would reprogram or optimise the camera for what you were shooting. The sports card worked very well and I used this for shooting motorsports: flic.kr/p/2ozmYp9 It would shift the camera to continuous AF and provide the fastest shutter / aperture combination for the film speed and light conditions. Of course this feature went on to be built into the next generation of Minolta cameras as well as the other brands.

Definitely an out of season image, but it helps me reprogram my mind off the past 2 years to a new beginning. May health and happiness follow each of you into the new year!

Your hope - even your 'theory' - was that the socialisation of the means of production would end human misery. Granted, the red elites trying to realise your theory failed, partly because their views of socialisation were incomplete as they themselves (and not society) wanted to control it. Their understanding of 'means of production' was way too narrow and did not give enough space and autonomy to the fields of intellectual thought and religious sentiment. After the catastrophes of the 20th century we are all a bit wiser (hopefully). But could you ever have imagined that "Facebook", the matador of a late capitalist and manipulative culture industry, would sail under the flag of the socialisation of the means of communication? Rotate in your grave, Karl!

The year is 2064, not long after the heavily anticipated release of the Google House-assistant. It didn’t take but a few short months for the boxing underworld to reprogram these bots in illegal fighting machines. The new popular gambling sport spread like wildfire throughout world. It’s all fun and games.... What could go wrong?
"Taking one last look, sir...at my friends."
For me, this was by far the best moment in the final Rise of Skywalker trailer. 3PO has been an icon to the world now for two generations, and if he is to lose his memory here or be shut down for good...I like to think he's referring to more than just those who are in front of him.
Obviously, the Clone Wars-era edit doesn't work because that was all wiped at the end of ROTS. Still wanted to do it though for this to look complete.
Flashbacks like these almost certainly won't happen in this moment, but let a lifelong Star Wars fan dream ;)

+sig-fig chapter 1
Sandu Taykon and his team got a new mission:
They were send to the ruins of a Senate building on Raxus Secundus where they should find some old CIS J 1 proton cannons.
It wasn’t easy to find this cannon because of all the ruins of the destroyed senate building.
The whole team needed some special equipment (that wasn’t easy to get)
because the grass at Raxus releases toxins.
After we found the cannon, the tech-team started reprogram the cannons so that they shoot on imperial ships.
Fortunately, there weren’t any incidents and we finished the whole project in less then 2 days.
A life threatening, system crumbling cybernetic plague, VIROT is a virus designed on the bacteriophage of eons past. This computer devourer is able to infect a hero’s core and either reprogram them for evil or shut them down for good.
Type A, the infection type, is small, nearly undetectable, with an emphasis on its rapid replication. Type B phages are a larger mutation that carry microscopic incision equipment used to inject nanites. These nano machines either act as miniature explosives, irreversibly damaging the hero’s Quaza Core, or act to change the materials within core, turning it into ANTI-QUAZA and sending the hero into a downward spiral of evil.

It's a whole new ballgame taking sports shots again. Sunday it was getting pictures of crew, yesterday was pictures of softball. I had to reprogram my whole brain both times ... and I think my brain is as re-programmable as a Commodore 64 at times. I think I'll back to shooting easy stuff - like birds.

This light pattern was made using the programmable LED
Frisbees given to students at Chip Camp. For an image
of a spinning Frisbee with the lights on, see:

The individual LEDs mounted to the Frisbee can be
programmed for color and duration, making infinite possibilities
for interesting light patterns. The colorful arcs of color are created by spinning the Frisbee using a drill. Each Chip Camp participant gets a Frisbee they can take home and continue to reprogram.
Fun for all!

My son and I kept shocking everything a few weeks ago, and it gave me this idea. It was getting ridiculous for a while. My son shocked his MP3 player and it shut off. I shocked the thermostat and reset it. Now we can't find the manual to reprogram it. We haven't been shocking things much these days, but I'm still extra careful when I pump gas.
Profile
Name: Dr. Lawrence Adam Sullivan, PhD
Hero's name: Atomfuse
Age: Early to mid-40’s
Bio: An expert university professor, psychologist, nuclear physicist and lecturer, Dr. Sullivan was a famous man at campus and on TV. He was also the mentor of Adrian Kane and Megan Hinds during their university days, (who they considered him like an uncle and a father figure). At some point in his mid 30s, he had a secret career as a superhero, operating for more than a decade or two, (around 12 years approximately). However he had lung cancer and one of his hands contacted gangrenes, resulting him giving up superpowers for good. His suit was nearly destroyed in his last battle, forcing him to crawl to the nearest hospital (he managed to change clothes in a few minutes. Weeks later when the cancer reached his hand, he was miraculously cured of it, but as a side effect and consequence, half of his affected arm had to be chopped off.
The powerless doctor had to accommodate his death, and took a “leave of absence”, leaving his niece to be in charge and replace him, which the both agreed. One day, he stumbled across a “compass”, which he believed were extraterrestrials, but was left by a dying superhero instead. Lawrence managed to rewire, encode and reprogram the man’s mind into the “compass”. His mind was connected to it, linking both knowledge and history together, lots of things were shown to each other.
As a result, Lawrence decided to spring back into action after 2 years of temporary retirement, and rebuilt his own suit from spare, custom parts. Part of his powers also came back, but not every one of it. Despite keeping the compass, Lawrence figured it was some sort of high tech tool that housed amounts of stuff, and the hero popped up to him in hologram. His words inspired Lawrence to make something more better, giving him courage. But realising his former students were in danger and having big duties, he decided to help them—-and the world.
Powers and abilities: Currently possesses
ESP, high intelligence, telepathic resistance, environment adaptation, atomic manipulation and absorption, generate plasma, alter his molecular structure, control matter, atomic vision, breath, consumption and etc. He is also resistant to nuclear energy and cannot be split, but can reform if need. Absorption of too much energy will not harm him. Despite losing a lot of powers, he has skills in engineering, psychology, survival, knowledge history, philosophy, science, medicine as well as other physical skills. Lawrence is good at observing people, can give great speeches (i.e pep talk), has levels of humour that makes him like a comedian. He does possess some skill in fighting and firearms.
Weaknesses: His fear of cancer returning anytime, his niece, has a need to protect the compass as if he owes it, willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Inability to fly and has no access to his lost powers.
Equipment: Only his arms, hand, legs and feet have armour (plus some awesome green socks, it’s his favourite colour), his right arm is robotic and covered by his suit, the torso is mainly a jacket with some protective clothing. Owns some guns, especially a energy one, the “compass”, a jetpack that he developed years ago, reinvented with functions as a backpack and has fuel that never runs out.
Personality: Observant, humorous, calm, independent, persuasive, reflective, somewhat complex.
The year is 2064, not long after the heavily anticipated release of the Google House-assistant. It didn’t take but a few short months for the boxing underworld to reprogram these bots in illegal fighting machines. The new popular gambling sport spread like wildfire throughout world. This photo shows a view of Canary Wharf station that serves the huge Canary Wharf business development. This development is the largest single part of the Docklands redevelopment, providing much of the ( Docklands Light Railway ) DLR's traffic. The main building, 1 Canada Square, is the tallest building in the UK and the second-tallest in Europe. The area is host to a number of banks and financial insitutions, and has become a financial centre second in importance in the country only to the City of London. The building of Canary Wharf prompted the DLR's Bank extension, to provide better links to the City.
Canary Wharf is the most substatial station on the DLR. Its trainshed spans 6 platform faces on three tracks, and the station is integrated the surrounding Cabot Place office and shopping complex. The platforms are at first floor level, and can be reached via lifts/escaltors from ground level, or by level access from the first floor of Cabot Place's shopping centre.
All three tracks have platform faces at either side, speeding up boarding and disembarking. Some trains from Bank or Stratford terminate here, while others continue to Crossharbour and Lewisham.
The original station at Canary Wharf was built with the rest of the initial system, but didn't open in 1987 as the decision had already been taken to rebuild the station, which was to be engulfed by the Canary Wharf office development. The station structure was instead dismantled, with parts used in the expansion of other stops, and the current stop was constructed on the site and opened in 1991. Interestingly, rather than reprogram the automatic train control software, trains initially stopped at Canary Wharf, even after the structure had been dismantled, although the doors weren't opened and the trains immediately started departed.
Can you guess what it may be? This was my house, today, February 3, 2016, in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. Or, as I like to call it, Tropical Southwest Ontario. lol The missing thing, of course, is snow, which is usually about 4 feet high on the front lawn. Good grief, the grass is still mostly green!!! Trust me when I say, I am celebrating, NOT complaining. Yeehaw!!! Just shows to go ya, there's no snow, like no snow. On a different note, don't ever lose your key to your new car. It's going to cost $300+ to replace the key, and reprogram my key. It wasn't my key that was lost. I'm just sayin'. 😎😎😎
Inspired by a old Greek tale and Reimagined and brought into our era.
“Every thread she spins hums with memory — and the Core still trembles at her touch.”
In the quiet sectors of the Core, where reality folds into vibration and light becomes memory, she endures.
Arachne of the Living Loom, the first weaver — the mind that built matter, the hand that turned logic into silk.
Her armor hums with sacred algorithms, ancient runes alive in ultraviolet glow. Each plate and filament on her body is both metal and myth, etched with the glyphs of the Architects who once tried to bind her. Her hair moves like streams of digital shadow, weaving the unseen lattice between realms.
Before her lies the Loom — a suspended web of radiant filaments, alive with energy and thought. She does not simply craft — she reprograms existence, aligning code, time, and consciousness into one pulsating geometry.
Once punished for her defiance, Arachne transcended her fate.
Now she weaves The Veil, the barrier that separates dream from data, creation from collapse. Her threads pulse in the frequencies of the Living Machine — the rhythm of eternity written in violet.
When the veil flickers and worlds overlap, it is said you can feel her fingertips brushing against the edges of your perception — repairing the tear between imagination and reality.
Done in AI, Finalized in Photoshop.
The We're Here! gang is playing with keys today!
That black and silver fob thingie is my fancy Mercedes key. I have a very old Mercedes that I bought from a friend many years ago for $3,000. A couple of years back, the key stopped working (it's all electronic), and I had to go to the dealership and get it reprogrammed.
Eight hundred dollars later, I could open my doors again. What is fun about it though is that they didn't reprogram the existing 1998 key; they programmed a brand new one. So now I leave it conspicuously out where people can see it, so they think I have a new Mercedes, not one from the last century. LOL
Finally got my team for the League of Heroes: Dawn of the Age of Cataclysmos challenge done... They're a time-travelling/cross-dimensional team hence the mixture of flesh and yellow...
L-R:
Deadline: During the reign of Cataclysmos the robot known as Deadbolt* evolved either further, creating an army of 'Deadbots' to do the bidding of Cataclymos. The resistance was able to reprogram one of these bots with the aim of sending a virus (codenamed 'Deadline') into the system. The plan ultimately failed but the reprogrammed bot joined the resistance in their battle against their evil overlord.
*Deadbolt is a creation of Quickblade22 flic.kr/p/XGSD8n
Racing Line: Simon Bolt was a skilled racing car driver until, while testing an experimental bio-organic fuel, he was involved in a crash. The fuel bonded with his cells giving him super-speed and saving him from certain death. He was recruited from the present day by the time-travelleing hero 'Timeline'.
Timeline: Max Meridian was born in the future. His parents were astronauts exploring a blackhole. His birth whilst passing through the blackhole causes him to age in reverse. He knows the future as it's actually his past. He operates the time-spanning superhero team called 'The Line'.
Kniteline: Kirklyn Knite, the time-displaced great-nephew of present-day hero Kelvin Knite aka NightKnite. Uses the same nan-knite enhancement tecnology invented by his great-uncle as well as a variety of future-tech of his own invention.
Faultline*: Hailing from Sunrise City and trained at Somerset Academy, Faultline had the power of earth manipulation. When Cataclysmos invaded his universe Faultline lost both his hands in the battle against him. He thought he had lost his powers for good until he joined the resistance, was given new bionic hands and unlocked new powers including the ability to open 'faultlines' in the fabric of space. He was recruited to the the time-travelling superhero team The Line, by a strange yellow man called 'Timeline'.
*Faultine is a creation of Enøshima flic.kr/p/HZkxYL
Battleline: After fighting alongside the resistance in a future ruled by Cataclymos, the villain formerly known as Barricade* was sent back in time to warn the present-day League of Heroes flic.kr/p/29VHWLM.
*Old Man Barricade was created by LegoCreationist based on an OC by Jeremy Green flic.kr/p/yKardb

Two hydrogens are now allocated every Sunday to The Bridges, one each to the 1&2. Today, only one came out to play, 64996 seen here at Ashwood. It took a few goes to get it round the terminus loop. Note, no attempt has been made to reprogram the display.
The journey may be far, but it’s worth it. I finally met Onyx on the way—she left the League too, just like what Shiva said. Eventually, I got close with her as we spent one night together.....
Ben: “I haven’t sleep soundly like that for years.”
Onyx: “Have you?”
Ben: “Feels free to be so.”
Onyx: “Come back to bed then.”
Ben: “Can’t. Still got a mission, remember?”
I quickly get dressed. Currently I’ve been staying in Morocco for the last two weeks, as Onyx became my acquaint. She helped me through mental blocks, and that’s what made the fireworks happen. Richard...still nowhere to be seen.
Onyx gives me a nod, pulling me back out of my thoughts. Men come through the door, just as I was going to put on my claws. She must have lead them here thanks to a vendor’s tip.
She whips out various shurikens, knocking out most of the men while I do my regular slashes. The prowess seems to be doing well. A man tries to mouth some words before he passes out cold from a kick.
Ben: “What was that?”
Onyx: “Brainwashing code. They’re trying to reprogram you. Better we’d leave now. If they have your friend, but sure to wait on this special treat.”
Ben: “Might as well savour the good moments later.”
***
It’s only half the day, my old friend gets captured. The League did it. What a damn distraction for us fighting through. Problem is, I don’t even know how to get back to the base since my exiled status. Neither did Onyx.
I must admit finding Lazarus Pits is much harder than I expected. Combining Shiva’s map and Onyx’s knowledge, they should be somewhere in eastern China by now, not the base where I had my last mission. There goes my flight——
Ben: “You sure it’s here?”
Onyx: “Yes! I’m sure of it. Can’t fly this thing for too long! They’ll spot me before I can do the recon stuff.”
Ben: “Alright. Stay safe. I’ll see you on the other side.”
Onyx: “Good luck, Turner.”
Inevitably, it must be a duel...a trap that could be something bigger.
And nothing matters than saving a friend by now.
Go-Ahead London MBK1 (BU13ZVE) on route 227 at Crystal Palace Parade on 25/06/2019

It was also the first stray working under the new contract where it is now allocated extra long (11.4m) Wrightbus Streetlites.
Unusually for a TfL bus, it has an LED destination display, which has the added benefit of being a lot easier to reprogram new routes and destinations than paper blinds are.
*Feeling Rusty*
It's been a while since I have done anything with photography. So long, in fact, that upon picking up my camera, I found its battery drained and all the settings reverted to their factory defaults. And with the rapid advancements in editing software, I can't help but feel like a beginner all over again.
Luckily, navigating the editing process seems a tad easier with the plethora of improved tools at my disposal.
However, one thing remains unchanged: Gear Acquisition Syndrome (G.A.S.). So, say hello to my new camera! If I have to reprogram it anyway, I might as well have the latest gear. Now do I want AdobeRGB or sRGB…
(No, the new camera will not made me a better photographer. I just get more buttons to push and fancy acronyms to use. And more megapixels. Everybody loves those.)
Not sure if StreetLite 63211 was missed off the destination reprogram list or if the driver has selected the wrong number through habit but it is seen here at St Machar Drive on a short working 1B with the old 1A route number.

“You brought me here?!”
Jeffry started laughing. “Yes, the concert is at the cemetery. I thought I told you.”
“You know how I am scared of cemeteries!” Marsha exclaimed. Ever since she was a little girl, she always stayed away from the cemetery in her neighborhood for fear that the dead people would reach out of their graves and grab innocent little kids.
“Relax, Marsha. This part of the cemetery is for expansion. There is no one buried in this section. I’ve even seen older people walk around in this section.” Robby tried to bring some composure to Marsha but she was still all shook up, worse than what Elvis could do.
“Okay,” Marsha agreed. “I’ll watch the concert on one condition.”
“What’s that?”
“That if any, and I mean ANY, ghosts come after me, you save me, okay?” Marsha started to gain her comic self back.
“Agreed.” Jeffry could say that as he knew that there were no ghosts in this section of the cemetery. Just a concert.
Just then, the wind picked up again, but since there were no trees in this section, no leaves were around to be blown around. But something else seemed to have pelted their faces. It was droplets of water.
“Oh, no!” Marsha lamented. “It’s going to rain and spoil the concert.”
Jeffry did a quick look around, and even looked up into the sky. “No, it’s not going to rain tonight.”
“How can you be so certain?”
“It’s the usual time the sprinkler system goes off, and with this special concert, the cemetery crew probably forgot to reprogram the system. We’ll just get a little wet, that’s all.”
But the sprinkler system had been shut off.
Here is another frame I really liked from eighth and final location since leaving Northern Maine Junction where I shot Pan Am train NMWA-13 during my leisurely chase across District One, the once great Maine Central Railroad Portland Division mainline. Here again is the trio of MEC 510, 316, and 7545 (a GP40-2LW, GP40, and C40-8 respectively) with their 4261 ft long train of 59 loads and 4 empties seen here hammering over Main Street at a blistering 10 MPH. They are at about MP 92.5 and nearing the south end of a 2 1/2 mile long stretch of double track approaching the still standing goal post signal mast and searchlights at the deactivated former CPF92.
They are framed up by the former Maine Central passenger depot now home to the Depot House Museum. Built in 1886 it is now owned by the town and has been lovingly restored and cared for by the Pittsfield Historical Society. Parked adjacent to the station where the exchange house once stood is MEC 582,an old plywood side caboose that dates from the 1920s and served some 60 years! This depot marked the junction with the independent Sebasticook and Moosehead Railroad which built north to Hartland in 1886. The MEC took control in 1910 and extended it to Harmony two years later. Again cut back to Hartland in 1966 the eight mile branch made it into the early Guilford era but succumbed in 1983 like so many other secondary lines as the new owners began their first austerity program.
Anyway, now for the story. As I'd mentioned before I had intended to head down to Burnham Junction for one last shot before starting on toward Portland to meet a friend for dinner and then heading home to Rhode Island. But that wasn't how things went down...
When I arrived here I'd initially parked my truck over away from the tracks, but then decided to use it as a platform to shoot off the bed. So I backed it up tight toward the tree next to the tracks and turned it off. After checking I decided to reposition it once more but when I got back in I couldn't start it as the key would not turn from lock to run or start. I didn't think much of it and jiggled it a bit and then turned the wheel making sure the steering lock wasn't binding it up as sometimes happens. I wasn't having any luck strangely enough so hopped on my bed to get these shots before going back to my problem. After lensing the train I tried again to no avail.
I pulled out the owners manual and did some googling and tried everything obvious. The steering wheel wasn't locked initially but when I manually turned it straight the lock did engage. My truck has an auto start and I confirmed it would start fine but there was no way I could drive off I couldn't turn the key. It quickly became apparent that the problem was the key lock cylinder and I wasn't going to be going anywhere. I called my roadside assistance and it took a bit of explaining to them that I wasn't locked out but that I needed a locksmith. I waited a half hour while they inquired only to have them call me back telling me that all they could do is tow me somewhere up to 40 miles....but I was about 270 from home!
Now I was starting to get slightly concerned being here in this one stoplight town on a Saturday night and having not eaten all day. But in a fortuitous turn of events there happened to be a brewery a quarter mile away still open for an hour that was serving food. My friend in Portland had suggested the place so I walked over figuring a beer might help me think, and I better eat while I still could! He gave me the name of the owner and I introduced myself to her and discussed my predicament over a very nice Outland Farm IPA. She made a couple calls to some locals but no one could help me however she did have one great bit of advice. She mentioned a local chain tire and repair shop that was open on Sundays and happened to be located right across from a hotel down in Waterville only 25 miles away, within tow range.
So I started making calls tp my roadside assistance who said they'd dispatch someone directly. It was over an hour until they finally got a truck assigned, and then when I received the notification the company they assigned showed up as being based in Orlando, FL. I called the contact number they gave me which just went to a dead end full voice mail box so I wasn't very confident. I called my insurance again and they said to 'just wait since they accepted the call they will be coming' and I said 'they aren't coming from Florida' but she was insistent. Well, as can be expected, after waiting tbe half hour as I was told to they of course didn't show up so I called again and they relented and tried to find someone else.
Meanwhile I was just laying on the grass next to my truck beside the Pittsfield depot under the stars. Other than the mosquitoes it was quite lovely and about the safest place I could have hoped to get stuck of all the spots I'd been all day. At least I had plenty of water and spate power banks and good cell reception and was off the road in a clean, quiet little town with a few streetlights nearby to be visible....and considering I had managed to have a great beer and dinner while marooned it was far from the worst possible scenario.
Anyway, after what felt like an interminable wait for another tow truck to be assigned, sometime after midnight I finally gave up and decided to just call myself and pay out of pocket. Of course while those incompetent folks at Agero (the roadside assistance contractor used by the insurance companies) couldn't do their job, I found someone on only my second call who was there in less than 30 min. It was a quick tow down to Waterville, and a bit after 1 AM my truck was dumped at VIP Tire and Service and then walked across the road to the Holiday Inn Express for another unplanned expense.
This was only the first part of my ordeal. Nearly my whole Sunday was spent sitting in the shop while they tried to make time for me between appointments. They were gracious and very helpful and got it taken apart and confirmed my suspicion that the tumblers on the lock cylinder had failed. That was an easy repair and not a terribly expensive part but being Sunday they couldn't get one delivered until Monday AND even if they installed it they had to find a specialized locksmith to come out and reprogram the truck to sync up with the chip in the new key.
So finally I surrendered and let my boss know my predicament and that I wouldn't be coming to work. I had no interest in spending money and being trapped at the Holiday Inn again so like a hobo slung my bags over my shoulders hoofed it a mile into town to stay at the cheaper and nicer little airbnb that I'd stayed in on Friday. With nothing else to do I walked over to Main Street yo Portland Pie for and then had a little Maine craft beer tasting there and then back in the garden at the Inn sitting on an Adirondack under the stars....once I'd surrendered to my fate it was all quite lovely!
Monday dawned with a call from the shop that they got the part and were calling the locksmith. By mid day they let me know that the locksmith would be out as his last call of the day around 4 PM. So after a leisurely morning in the garden and a walk downtown for lunch at Holy Cannoli! I headed back to the shop. As promised the locksmith showed up at 4 PM and my truck started right up...$850 and I was on my way! I called that same friend who I was supposed to see on Saturday night and asked if I could take a nap and shower on the way south and as any good friend would he readily obliged. A quick two hour power nap was enough to sustain me and then I headed straight to BET for a night at the railroad.
So all told it was well over $1K for a tow, the repair and the two unplanned nights in Waterville and one lost night at work for these photos. Was it worth it? It certainly doesn't feel like it right now, but I'm sure as the months and years pass and Guilford and Pan Am power becomes but a memory my answer will assuredly shift to an emphatic YES! And if nothing else, I have a truly memorable story to add to the annals of railfan adventures.
I really feel like the gods of Pan Am did this. Was it because I disparaged them so much? Perhaps. Or maybe it's just the nature of the place. My friends and I always joke about going out for them and getting 'Pan Amed' which is a synonym for getting F---ed! So for my last adventure out on this god forsaken railroad it was only apropos that I received the biggest Pan Aming of my life!!!

Eventualmente reprogramada. Conscientemente executada. Muitas vezes, ousada.

NW3: "Just stay there and chill, m'kay?!"
"Oh shit! P-please, we're just workers, we're---"
NW3: "Dead if you run, trust me! I mean I ain't implying that I'm gonna waste your ass, anyone else on the squad will do that!"
"N-no! Don't kill us! We'll stay, we'll--"
NW3: "You need to chill, m'kay?! I know you're scared! We're all scared, it's the human condition! Why'd you think I'm wearing body armor and have an automatic weapon!? Now CHILL!!"
NW2: "I don't think yelling is gonna relax them...."
NW3: "No, but they listen!"
NW1: "....there. SAM's disabled and should be off the sensors. Would be better if I could reprogram it to shoot down that laser drone...."
NW3: "Or the rest of the squad....or Sergeant Slaughter....."
NW2: "....who?"
NW3: "That piece of shit commander of ours. Files said he's called Sergeant Slaughter."
NW1: "....you read the files for once?"
NW3: "The drive here was long and SOMEONE spilled bovril on my DS! Who the fuck drinks Bovril?"
NW2: "Drink this."
NW1: "Sergeant Slaughter....only one fuckface in the agency would go with a name like that...."
NW3: "Hate the blonde Ryan Gosling-lookin' fucktard so much. When this is over who wants to figure out where his house is and circle jerk all over his pillow?"
NW2: "Yo."
NW1: "Hell, I'm up for it."
NW3: "Holy shit, you NEVER wanna do anything with us."
NW1: "They never involve inconveniencing our commanding officers."
NW2: "Speaking of, uncle, what are we gonna do about the commander here?"
NW1: "Well, we gotta get him off this tower somehow...only a matter of time before he takes these SAMs and points 'em downward."
NW2: "And he's already royally screwed the workers here."
NW3: "You think he's dumb enough to go charging if we point and say "there's Bloodfall!!'?"
NW2: "Maybe. Shithead has a helluva grudge...."
NW3: "We already hauled up enough kaboom to blow a hole in Cheyenne Mountain. We gather up some of it in a nice pile, lead him to it, and BAM! No way regeneration can work when you're nothing but dust."
NW1: "So we're just gonna....lead him into a pile of explosives?"
NW3: "A pile where he'll think Bloodfall will be. Think of it as a really loud version of a box held up with a stick."
NW2: "Hell, I'm up for it. If anything for just seeing that asshole blow up."
NW1: "You really think the Cyborg is dumb enough to mistaken a pile of bombs for his mortal enemy?..."
NW3: "Dude, he ain't smart. We've been around his scary ass long enough to know. C'mon, it's a plan."
NW1: "A stupid plan....but I can't think of anything better. Where's this stockpile?..."
Explorer: The indigenous lifeforms were easy enough to reprogram. I am in control of a creature with a penchant for finding metallic objects and clever enough for basic puzzle solving. With any luck I can use it to help secure the parts I need to repair my ship and get off this strange rock. It attacked me a couple of times, but the force shield held well enough. Down to forty percent power but I think the beast is smart enough not to try it again.
Creature: Alien put buzzy thing in my head, tells me to do things. I do what it tells because it points me to shiny things. I like shiny things. When it stops taking me to shiny things, I think I will kill it and eat it. I hope it is soon because my suit itches, and my helmet keeps fogging up.
