Im Oktober 2011 waren lokbespannte Züge im Vorharz noch ein alltäglicher Anblick. 218 451 nähert sich mit einem RE bei Baßgeige ihrem nächsten Halt in Gosar.
In autumn 2011 loco-hauled trains were an everyday appearance in the northern Harz region. At Baßgeige, 218 451 approaches Goslar with a train to Bad Harzburg.
The Brunswick Tires sign hanging on the side of the barn along with the hubcaps are a few remaining items from a farmer who must have had a real interest in automobiles. Many older folks keep items from their younger days that remind them of who they were in this life. The older we get the more these items become some of our favorite things.

While using Photoshop to re edit and put captions on a collection of my images, I have created some new versions of former postings. I've included the original posting for comparison. I tend to prefer this one for the warmer tones.
Moomin Homestyle Dishes, No. 5 Gratin, from 2017. I've always wanted this pitcher and flowers. It's not that great in person though.
...actually they, being Slate-colored Juncos (Junco hyemalis hyemalis), have been back for a while. They returned in mid-October like they usually do, but it wasn't until the first snowfall two weeks ago that I got to take a few pics of some.
Every year a group of these Juncos spends winter with us in and around the yard. Each year the number of birds varies. This year there are a lot fewer (2 dozen maybe) than last winter where around 75 or so spent winter with us. And the fact these Juncos spend winters in such cold climes has earned them the nickname "snowbirds".

Since I've been joining the event Re:Japonica as a staff member, I hoped to take some of the product pictures.
Although the event has ended already, I really liked these photos and got them yesterday.
I'm really sorry for not being able to upload the pictures in time!

This is a re-edit of a photo I took last summer. It's been a favorite image but despite the great look on a computer screen, I never liked the way this looked when I printed it. In preparation for an art show this weekend I revisited it and started from scratch on the edit using some my new skills at editing these difficult night shots. This version looks great on paper and I like the way it looks on the computer as well.
When we were staying near Ludlow we went out for a short drive through the beautiful surrounding countryside - and came across this former water tower.
A real attention-grabber & with an owner who was happy for me to wander on to his driveway to get a clear shot.

Die Re 421 393+387 von IRSI war 15.08.2024 mit dem Aushubzug Sihlstollen von Shilbrugg nach Hüntwangen-Wil und wir in wenigen Minuten am Ziel eintreffen und konnte auf dem Eglisauer Viadukt aufgenommen werdne.

Am 14.10. fuhr mir dieser Zug mit Re 460 und zwei Messwagen vor die Linse. Um was es sich genau handelt, ist mir leider nicht bekannt. Die Wagen trugen eine Aufschrift "SBB Infrastruktur". Vielleicht kann hier jemand weitere Informationen liefern?

The We're Here gang are all having fun in New Orleans today, but my son and I couldn't find a ride.

A male great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) splashes through the surface after a partial breach.
White sharks are ambush predators and rely on surprising prey from below. When they charge toward a prey item, the momentum often takes them completely out of the water. In this photo the shark was going after a chunk of yellowfin tuna, a natural prey item for the shark, that had been thrown out into the water by dive operators, but he ended up getting some bits of seaweed, instead.
