Yeah, my morning starts with whiskey
And ends with neon shame
I light a smoke and curse his name
It’s rough, but it still picks me
Off the floor where I fell—
Just a woman in a bad man’s world
Sun crawls in through a tear in the blinds
Coffee's cold, and I'm outta my mind
Lipstick stains on a cigarette tray
Ain’t no angel, never claimed I’d stay
I talk to ghosts in the kitchen light
Still wear his shirt, though he left last night
My morning starts with whiskey
Like a secret I can't quit
It burns just right, like a goodbye kiss
Ain’t holy, but it hits me
Like a hymn that’s gone to hell
I’m a good girl in a bad man’s spell
Records skip on a vinyl prayer
Heaven don’t live 'round here
High heels kicked by the bathroom door
I keep falling, just to feel the floor
I toast to lies with a bitter grin
Another sin, another bottle in
My morning starts with whiskey
Like a lover I regret
But it fills the cracks that love forgets
Ain’t sweet, but it forgives me
Like the devil in Chanel
I’m a slow dance on a broke motel
Mama warned me, but I never listened
I trade my peace for something missin’
Ashtray heart and reckless charm
Holdin' tight to a false alarm
Nothing says "I'm Back" better than a light painted star trail of a river and a really nice tree.
9 minutes - ISO 400 F5.6 15mm fisheye - lit with a torch for the duration.
I really like a girl - she means a lot to me. And I wrote her this with the intention of starting a relationship.
It worked.
Edit - Last time I checked this picture was 111 in explore. That number used to scare the crap out of me.

Heavily photoshopped? Nope.
Flashed yellow then white balance corrected in photoshop. Basically, flashing a subject yellow gives that subject a higher K value and a lot of green tint, so you then change those values in photoshop to make it look 'normal' and it changes everything that wasn't flashed to a purple/bluey colour. In long exposures like this one it doesn't work as well because you get the worst CA ever - well it's not even CA because it's caused by the natural lighting which after WB correction turns purple and is visible on the edges. It does give quite a cool effect to the bush in the bottom right - like a purple out line.
40 mins, f5.6, ISO200 - WB corrected, and minor lighting adjustments.
Waiting for the clouds to clear, we ended up shooting the old diggers.
This was done first time with no test shots and it's one of my favourites from the night. I had my camera literally inches away from it too - man I love that fisheye =D
White Balance changes in photoshop - Nothing else.
There's not much better than a sunset on the water...
I have been so uninspired this week... part of it has been that the weather has been pretty much the same for the last two weeks or so - cloudy! It makes it difficult to get interesting photos when the light is so flat. So I waited until the last minute tonight, trying to figure out what to do... I was driving around looking for somewhere to go with Addie, and noticed the sunset. With the help of some friends I found a great location to take this shot, and I'm pretty pleased with out it turned out!
Shot in RAW; edited in Photoshop Elements 9
50mm f/1.8
Manual Exposure
ISO 800
f/3.5
1/60
Suggestions always welcome!
This is my favourite picture I've ever taken. I've just got it blown up to A2 to stick on my wall and it looks incredible.
returned to my favourite phone box tonight with my 5d. Only useable shot - I did take a 20 minute star trail but forgot to zoom out after focusing so it's terrible.
GND filter f5.6 for almost 2 minutes. Cloned out some street signs in photoshop - no other adjustments.

A new and, for the time being, secret location!
Perfect timing with the clouds - Ironically the light pollution in the background helped me get a good picture rather than ruining it. Fisheye lens - 2 minute exposure f/7.1 ISO200. Lit by nearby streetlights and natural flash for the exterior. Interior lit with multiple low powered purple flashes.
No Photoshop. Thought about cropping it in, but didn't want to lose any of the curves - what do you think?
Thank you to Glynn and Mike for permission and also helping me set up some of the photographs. Expect a lot more from this location in the next few weeks.
...the originals were somewhat uninspiring so I played with the RAW edits. I did the following:
1. Changed from Standard to Landscape.
2. Increased the saturation two notches (0 to +2; max +4)
3. Reduced the WB from tungsten (3200) to 2800.
4. Customized the color towards the blue spectrum.
I like the results and most importantly the modified picture looks more like what I saw in real life. Why is the sky so bright? I think the full moon played a role.
This is the Manhattan bridge over the East River from Brooklyn to Manhattan.
Not too many raw edits on this photo. I think the Freewell filter is putting a color cast on photo which i liked so I did not try and post process it out of image in Lightroom.
Something I'm working on at the moment. Me and my girlfriend both put our heads together to create this idea and I thank her greatly because not only is she fine with me implying she's a whore, but I got my car stuck in mud whilst parking here and she pushed it out with me driving. I'm a lucky young man.
I also was using a new gel which I found under a load of camera related stuff in my room. It's a really dark blue and it's amazing. The colour in this photograph has not been photoshopped at all.
Hopefully I can persuade my girlfriend to freeze to death again so I can get the lighting better - but it was incredibly awkward to write on.
Bright, Saturated colors are so fun! The yellow one in front is probably a little over exposed though..it's really bright.
Canon XS 1000d
shot in Raw
Editted in a Raw Plug-in for Gimp in Linux/Ubuntu
Natural Light from Windows (...did I use a flash too..? hm..)
Couple of RAW edits from my new Fujinon 50/2 that has made it's way into my collection. First impressions are quite good.
Happy Moggy Monday!
It took me about 30 minutes to set up this shot. I had to tape a gel over the phone box light - a very traumatic experience, if one was claustrophobic or arachnophobic I would have had a heart attack...it was full of HUGE spiders and their webs!
I then gelled a slave which took me ages to position right, composing was hard too because I wanted the tree fully in. It was just a nightmare anyway. But I like this shot so I guess it was worth it.
Editing - evened up the lighting - flickr seems to make the pink look more purple in patches. Weird.
And afterwards an old man came up to me -
Old man "what're you doing?"
Me "erm, taking pictures of the phone box, look." *turns camera around to show old man*
Old man "this is mill lane you know?"
Me "OK"
Old man "Yes, there are a lot of mill lanes around here. But this is mill lane"
Me "Yeah"
*Awkward Silence*
Me "So yeah...I better be off"
*runs away into the night*
A long exposure of a cannon (i actually thought it was spelt 'canon' )at the end of a very icy jetty in the lake district. I was lucky that the area I was staying in suffered from very little light pollution - as you can see though - one or two lights have spoiled the clear blue sky in this photograph.
I hope you like this one - It's one of my best from the trip. (more to come)
edit - it seems to have lost a lot of contrast looking at it on here. Flickr puzzles me sometimes with it's representation of photographs.
Finally some new stuff!
I found this really cool tree and the blue hour tonight was epic so I got some nice shots. Expect some long star trails here soon.
Taken with my new 15mm fisheye - I went for the sigma one...it doesn't seem to be as sharp as the canon one so far (but i've hardly used it) however the focus is quieter, it's cheaper and it comes with a better case.
Hard to make cause my flash was dying and just wouldn't recycle fast enough. I really like this shot though and it was the first try at this shot too.
No photoshop.
I was lent a 15mm fisheye lens by jonesjohnathonpaul (thank you very much by the way!) and here are a few test shots with it. Surprisingly it has a lot less vignetting that my 17-40 f4L and is really sharp. I think I'm gonna have to buy one!
This shot was an absolute nightmare to get - the location is very high up and it was incredibly windy last night. I had to spread the legs on the tripod to their widest point and pray that it wouldn't shake it during the exposure. Not only that but I was freezing...so I just guess focussed, badly composed and ran off to shelter.
After travelling 50 miles and not taking a single photograph - I ending up shooting a little closer to home and still not getting anything good. I couldn't have asked for better shooting conditions either...
Nothing says "I'm Back" better than a 10 minute star trail of a light painted church.
Bassenthwaite church in Cumbria - innocently left wide open for the manipulation of a night photographer.
Lit with only a Torch.
10 minutes f5.6 17mm ISO400
A picture I must have forgotten to upload. Long exposure with the camera on the front of my car. Pretty chuffed with the greens and reds in this one.
Ignore the awful haircut - it's no longer that bad.
Editing - changed white balance so that the flash's blue tint wouldn't show up as much. - Flickr has decided to take away all the contrast. and give it a very slight green tint :(
