For the Birds
Taken from: www.curiosityshoppeonline.com/forbirds.html
These beautiful avian abodes are a collaborative effort by San Francisco artists Luke Bartels & Jeff Canham. Combining immaculate craftsmanship with a wry sense of humor, these amazing objects present a whole village of bird houses, or rather bird businesses: The Condor Club Peep Show, Madame Cuckoo Psychic, Night Owls Bar, Pigeon Hole Motel...Each one adorable, meticulous, and completely one of a kind.
For The Birds will be on display at the Curiosity Shoppe until May 9th. All items will ship on Tuesday, May 11th.

Shot With Nikon D700 + Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm G IF ED VR . Using 2 SB 900's
Here is a handsome bookshelf worth its weight to showcase your collection of pulp noir books and other carefully curated collectibles. The aged metal frame, combined with raw mango wood shelves, give it a sexy, rugged look. Comes with 2 very functional crates - perfect for storing knick-knacks waiting to be sorted.
Width 100cm, depth 35cm, height 180cm
From a conversation I had yesterday eve with another Flickr member we discussed why you should use RAW and not JPEG.
This image is one single exposure. The exposure was at the limit of the bright parts of the sky but not burnt out at all (see unedited RAW image next to this shot) .
I used Lightroom to pull out the dark foreground and this is the result.
I uploaded this as an example of just what you can extract from a single RAW file with Lightroom, not the best shot sorry however I thought it was good for showing why to use RAW. Yes the foreground does have a little noise but is acceptable. No I did not use my ND filter on the camera….
As a JPEG the foreground could never be recovered to this extent....

aka Fearless Fanny Faye, Terror of the Mountainside
Our little Fanny Faye has decided the DEER feeder is her own personal property. Yesterday, I watched the little stinker chase off a young buck who has been a regular visitor. The poor guy looked so confused when this little black streak, not even as tall as his knees, came tearing out of the woods. When he moved off a sufficient distance, Fanny Faye performed this elegant self-satisfied stretch before marching back to her hidey-hole in the woods, head held high. She tried it with me this morning! She is the cutest little terror imaginable. :)
Found out yesterday that she "belongs" at the place down the road where they care for rescued horses. She managed to break out. Don't know yet, what will happen with the little darlin'. Of course, my heart says to make friends and bring her in, but my head knows she will quickly grow to be HUGE... not that I have a problem building a pig pen in the yard. :) Time will tell; making friends will have to be the first step no matter what. Hopefully, she will allow herself to be corralled before the neighbors (vacation home) come up the mountain and discover she has rooted up their lawn!!
I'll keep you posted on the saga of Fanny Faye.
