Here's a comparison of this classic 35mm film rangefinder vs. a Sony NEX-7 APS-C 24mp camera (image in comment below).
I took them both to the park on this blizzard day. Which do you prefer?

Testing the mechanics of the CL. Given to me by a friend who never tried it out. So far so good. Used Kodak Portra 400 so I could go through all shutter speeds.

Macro Mondays ~ Less is More
Newly rescued from a dusty box in my basement, I remember this camera in my house growing up, and I have a photo somewhere with it in my Grandma's hand. I hope to have it cleaned up and try my luck with a roll of film.

This building felt old when I first visited it 40 years ago. At the time it was called Top Burger. The burgers were large and had a pleasant amount of black pepper on them. It was right around the corner from my grandmother's home. I think the first burger I ever had came from this drive-in.
A lot has changed in 40 years. The town has become more diverse but also more run down in places. All the growth is happening on the far side of town. It's difficult to see the town as it was for all the pawn shops and pay day loan outfits on the main drag.
I'm glad that this old drive-in is still around, reborn as a taqueria . Places like this remind me that there's still stuff to love about my home town.

Gone fishing.
Not so many boats in the water now that Labor Day is behind us and the weather has cooled.
A few days before Labor Day I walked down to the Irondequoit Bay outlet. We had high clouds and bright sun. I was in the mood for taking pictures.

nach unendlichen versuchen, eine geile, funktionierende sucherkamera zu ersteigern habe ich es scheinbar geschafft, ein sehr gut erhaltenes modell meines favorites zu ergattern .

hach, was schön...
This is a vintage 35mm Nikon S2 rangefinder camera. It has a 50mm f/1.4 lens, which is removable. This one was originally owned by my uncle. It's in good condition and I just loaded a roll of film into it this morning. I'm going to ask my uncle more about the history of this camera.

Same place, always different.
Fast forward again to October 18. It was a gorgeous(!) day at Letchworth State Park. Temperature was in the low 60sF with clear blue skies. The colors were beginning to peak. I hiked five miles.
I started at Archery Field, took the cutoff to Inspiration Point, then followed Trail 1 along the gorge rim back to Archery Field.
Inspiration Point is well named. You can see the Middle and Upper Falls and the railroad bridge arching across just past the falls.

A few days before Labor Day I walked down to the Irondequoit Bay outlet. We had high clouds and bright sun. The Irondequoit Bay Marine Park begins near the top of the hill and stretches from the highway right-of-way on the left across to the treeline on the right and down to the bay. I was in the mood for taking pictures.
I shorted the development time by a minute to keep from blowing out the highlights.
This was the last frame on the previous roll. I loaded another and shot most of it.
