During the dry season, its quite common for the range to be enveloped in low cloud, even though little or no rain falls. But at other times, it is searingly dry and hot, and hence the range is very fire-prone.

Trephina Gorge Nature Park lies east of Alice Springs in the central Australian desert country of the East MacDonnell Range. The gorge is dry for most of the year.
Coast Range Lumber Co. blacksmith shop, Mabel, Oregon, c. 1912-1915.
Blacksmiths were key to logging enterprises for many years. Tools, machinery and rigging broke. The blacksmith would repair or create new parts as necessary. Most large logging camps as well as every mill had a blacksmith.
Around the shop you can see several pieces of logging equipment as well as the many tools that they would use practicing their trade. The electric light bulbs hanging from the ceiling tell us that this one belongeed to the Coast Range Lumber Co. as when they purchased the Sunset Lumber Co assets, they brought electricity to the city of Mabel for the first time in 1911.
