A good reading year, 2008. :) I found several faves! It may have something to do with the fact that in the summer I graduated from uni, where I'd been locked up with numerous heavy textbooks since 2003. I was pretty STARRRRRRRRVED for leisure reading. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starting dates, titles, authors and any comments I may have... :)

23-Jan-2008: 1. "Trainspotting" by Irvine Welsh

One of my fave books, I suppose. :) I had already seen the movie, which is also one of my faves. So is Ewan McGregor. And Scottish accents. :|

12-Feb-2008... I think: 2. "Asperger syndrom" (That's Swedish rather than a misspelling) by Christopher Gillberg

Who, me? WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT %P

17-Feb-2008: 3. "Jag avskyr ordet normal" (Swedish for "I hate the word normal") by Malin Nordgren

Another Swedish Aspie book. :) I don't hate the word "normal." I do hate people who automatically attach a positive meaning to it. 8) PS. Here is somebody else's great blog post on the subject of normal people. :B

18-Feb-2008: 4. "Unweaving the rainbow" by Richard Dawkins.

OMFFSM IT'S SO AWESOMESAUCE. 8D Three years after reading it I still think about chapter 1 pretty much every day. :) Almost everything Dawkins says is sensible. :D #smileyoveruse

27-Feb-2008: 5. "Djuren - i människans klor" by... a bunch of people, I think.

A Swedish little book about various animal / people relationships.

5-Mar-2008: 6. "On human nature" by Edward O. Wilson

3-Apr-2008: 7. "Guns, germs, and steel" by Jared Diamond

I recommend this.

7-Jun-2008: 8. "Animal farm" by George Orwell

9-Jun-2008: 9. "1984" by George Orwell

Went onto my fave list. :)

16-Jun-2008: 10. "The road" by Cormac McCarthy

Haven't seen the movie yet but I will. Not because I was crazy about the book; I just like to see pretty much every movie based on books I've read. :B

19-Jun-2008: 11. "The world without us" by Alan Weisman

Mmmmmmmmmmm. :B It also offers interesting and important bits about our current situation. Fave.

5-Jul-2008: 12. "The God delusion" by Richard Dawkins

READ THIS TOO. DO IT. :) Kthxbai.

18-Jul-2008: 13. "Heart-shaped box" by Joe Hill

Teh funs for a Nine Inch Nails fan, heehee! :D

21-Jul-2008: 14. "The diversity of life" by Edward O. Wilson

5-Aug-2008: 15. "Animal liberation" by Peter Singer

MY FAVOURITE BOOK. So if I could recommend 1 book to everyone, THIS WOULD BE IT. :O When it becomes possible to download books directly into one's brain, I shall learn to write virus programs (by... downloading the knowledge into my brain?) and infect you all. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA

16-Aug-2008: 16. "The elegant universe" by Brian Greene

My ex-email addy contained the phrase yoze_hates_physics, but this book on string theory is MATH FREE :D and a rather enjoyable mindfuck! :)

13-Sep-2008: 17. "Dude, where's my country?" by Michael Moore

17-Sep-2008: 18. "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer

I'M NOT A TWITARD I'M JUST GONNA READ ALL THE BOOKS K. And... see all the movies... at the cinema... :|

24-Sep-2008: 19. "The complete guide to Asperger's syndrome" by Tony Attwood

:B *hugs book, which proceeds to scream*

5-Oct-2008: 20. "Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to save civilization" by Lester R. Brown

JUST. READ. IT. Which you can do ONLINE FOR FREE! :D

30-Oct-2008: 21. "The ancestor's tale" by Richard Dawkins

About evolution. Btw, you know what would be EXTREMELY KEWL?!?!?! If you could obtain photos of each of your great-great-great-great-and-so-on grandmothers - back to the ancestral cell - and line up the photos in the correct order (you - mum ----- ancestral cell) and walk along them and look at them all. :) :D 8D It might take a while. And be impossible and stuff. But awesome. :D ... #smileyoveruse

29-Dec-2008: 22. "Doing democracy" by Bill Moyer

Interesting if you're in any kind of movement... :q

"Unbalanced footprints. 1.9 hectares. This would be the maximum size of our ecological footprints if the resources of this planet are to be sufficient, sustainable and equally distributed."

Measure your ecological footprint.

Another footprint quiz (just for the US and Australia so far) here.

I think I read that the average human footprint globally is 2.2 hectares. Oops.

Note to self: The number of visits to my photostream reached 17000 on 14-Nov-2009. :)

Ah, so Alibubba wasnt feeling very happy a week or so ago, so Kerry and I made her a care package - well she already had a blue wig, so I decided to keep it for myself - since my blonde one was destroyed and ended up on our miley cyrus pumpkin (joke, we're not big fans).

anyways, since I earned those beads a while back, I had this genius photo idea that I didnt quite execute, but it's good enough.

finished my last project and paper today. Going to finish my last grant proposal and I'll be smooth sailing until graduation. My family is funneling in tomorrow, my older brother is leaving Iraq as we speak and in a week everyone will be here for the big walk.

super excited. now I'm just exhausted and ready for bed.

Election coming up. I'm not voting for the team currently in charge. I was there with a group called the Animal Rights Alliance, who are currently trying to get mink farming banned in Sweden. We wanted to remind PM Fredrik Reinfeldt of this issue. So we infiltrated the crowd and after a while, we raised banners and placards into the air. (Nice and silent, we were! :B ) The cops threw us out, but we got to hang around the edge of the crowd with our placards. :) (Which is what we're doing in this pic.)

The next day, we got a wee mention in the local paper.

To keep dust and shit out of the iPod's arsehole. Maybe some kind of rubber stopper was supposed to come with it, but I never saw any. This is cooler anyway.

"The four of us are dying" logo sticker on Diary 37. The latter was purchased in celebration of my 15 years as a regular journal-keeper on October 10, 2008. 8D

The sticker came with the physical version of Nine Inch Nails' album "The slip", copy #56331. Nine Inch Nails is an AWZUM BAND, MOSTLY CUZ HE GAVED ME STICKERZ!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Download "The slip" for FREE ffs, it's fucking great.

My comments on Diary 37, copied from a certain forum:

"...There are 4 "petals" in the psycho pattern, aaaaaand my sick twisted mind can interpret the song to be not very far removed from the colour greeeeeeen! 8D Or I stole the interpretation idea from ETS, cannae really remember! 4 DNA bases... biodiversity... :O

Actually... This here DNA photo bears some resemblance to the psycho flower. THE HARMONY! IT'S TOO MUCH!

The sticker will be subjected to much wear and tear, but at least it's in a place that's important to me. :q Ideally, I would have used Lights in the sky. I may hunt that pack down sometime. But this was the Slip I was dealt, so it's speshul, and I do love this logo too. I think.

My other stickers, then, are Letting you and 999999. They don't speeeeeeak to me quite as much so perhaps I really will undertake that hunt before I put another sticker on a precious diary.

While I was handling the sticker it fell from my greasy fingers and landed randomly on the book... SCREEEEEEEEEEECH! Luckily I managed to tear it off. You slopped good glue on these fuckers, Trent. :9

End of report.

Yes, I was unable to find a hawter journal that was both sticker-friendly and equipped with lined pages, because lined journals are in the vortex of the 6th extinction too."

We had gone to visit my gran, who lives pretty close to the Swedish-Finnish border. Carolin had never been to Finland and I'd only walked across the border as a tiny kid. So we had to go there, and documented our visit in a most picturesque supermarket parking lot. :p
