Ramsgate - St Augustines

Plaque on the Ramsgate Royal Harbour Obelisk, 5 September 2020. It was erected to commemorate the embarkation of King George IV to visit his other Kingdom - that of Hanover - in 1821.

The pillars in the foreground are relics of the stalled Royal Sands development. It was supposed to consist of several storeys of flats over shops/restaurants. Nothing seems to have happened on the site for years now.
