The Pamban Bridge is a railway bridge on the Palk Strait which connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. The bridge refers to both the road bridge and the cantilever railway bridge, though primarily it means the latter. Opened on 24 February 1914, it was India's first sea bridge, and was the longest sea bridge in India until the opening of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in 2010. The rail bridge is for the most part, a conventional bridge resting on concrete piers, but has a double leaf bascule section midway, which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through.
In South India, people worship trees because they hope that the power and fertility contained in them may be transferred into their lives.
Trees are decorated with silk garments in shining colours. They are the gifts from devotees who come to thank the Deity for whatever wishes were fulfilled. Others place miniature cradles on the branches in the hope that they might be granted an offspring.
Inhale deeply, relax, stand tall, and shoot!
For a stop in the Marathwada region, the train from Mandapam near Rameshwaram steadily decelerates! This is how I began my wonderful morning on a lovely Sunday and as soon as the darkness of dawn disappears, the morning's golden hour begins with orange colours in the sky. The fantastic duo link from Guntakal still exists for the train headed towards Okha, and they continue to spread happiness everyone!
A mini heart attack on Pamban Island after seeing those Poles but later realized they are only for lighting purpose of Yard. The overhead wires are yet to this Island! 😌
Golden Rock (GOC) WGD-3A lying idle near Yard after shunting the 22661/Sethu Express & one trackman performing his regular duty. Clicked this scene from 16851/Boat Mail Express during it's arrival in Rameswaram (RMM). 😀

My boat is very small, still
I have an oar called faith and
I know I could sail home safe !!!

A lonely boat swaying gently near the shores of Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu, India .
I shot this from Pamban bridge which is just above the boat. It is a famous bridge built across the sea to connect the Rameshwaram island with the mainland. A twin bridge with a separate railway line and a motorable road.

.... at Rameshwaram.
Had a short trip to Rameshwaram during "Good Friday" long weekend. Got some pics and videos in mobile
The morning breeze from the sea is very pleasant as the sun rises from the Gulf of Mannar side, casting golden hues on the Boat Mail Express as it leaves the Indian mainland and crawls over a more than century old, India's first Sea bridge built during British times, traversing more than two kilometres at a very slow speed of ten kilometres per hour towards the Island of Rameshwaram. Rail-fanning at the Sea is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to combine your love of trains and the sea!
Good atmosphere
Rameshwaram (India) - With such a colorful crowd and the relaxed atmosphere of pilgrims, this trip to Rameswaram remains a highlight for me. Especially since I found myself by chance in the middle of this gigantic pilgrimage.
For the photo below, I had already photographed two or three times these young girls drying themselves and brushing their hair in very elegant attitudes. Then I was spotted and denounced by the youngest. It all ended with a burst of laughter and an exchange of emails so that I could forward the photos.

The Pamban Bridge ( Tamil: பாம்பன் பாலம்) is a cantilever bridge on the Palk Strait which connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. Opened in 1914, it was India's first sea bridge, and was the longest sea bridge in India till 2010. The rail bridge is for the most part, a conventional bridge resting on concrete piers, but has a double leaf bascule section midway, which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through. On 24 February 2014, the Pamban Bridge marked its 100th anniversary.
This is one of the four corridors around the sanctum sanctorum of Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameshwaram, a holy town in a small island near the east coast of Tamilnadu. The corridor is the longest in the world measuring 690 ft. To see the full corridor see this link.
