[NL] Twee wagens namen deel aan de Rally Parijs-Dakar en leverden uitstekende prestaties. De X2 verongelukte en navigator Kees van Loevezijn kwam om het leven. Jan de Rooy en DAF besloten onmiddellijk van verdere deelname af te zien.
Motoren: 2 KS 11.6 liter ATi dieselmotoren, 1220 pk, 3 turbo's.
Aandrijving: 4x4, beide motoren drijven ieder één as aan.
Chassis: aluminium space-frame constructie.
Cabine: speciale uitvoering van de F95 dagcabine.
Remmen: inwendig gekoelde schijfremmen.
[EN] Two of these trucks took part in the 1988 Paris-Dakar Rally and performed brilliantly.
They were powered by two KS 11.6 litre ATi engines that had three turbos and delivered 1,220 bhp.
A special version of the F95 day cab was fitted on the space-frame chassis.
The X2 had a serious accident in which navigator Kees van Loevezijn was killed. Continuing was out of the question for Jan de Rooy and DAF and the X1 was pulled out of the race.

An almost heroic 12th place if you consider that a week earlier in the marathon stage (the longest and with mechanical no assistance) he dehydrated and even passed out, and was helped by a Chilean raider, Enrique Guzman, who probably saved his life.
