After seven victories in Rally-Raid in 1988 and 1989 in the following rallies: Atlas (Morocco), Tunisia, Pharaos (Egypt), Baja (Spain), the 405T16 Rally Raid won the Paris-Dakar in 1990, with Finnish rally driver Ari Vatanen and navigator Bruno Berglund.
Technical data: four wheel drive, rear central engine, 4 cylinders, turbocharged, 2 overhead camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder, 1905 cc, 310 bhp, 6 speed gearbox.

Captured at the Atacama Desert, Chile during the 2014 Dakar rally. Perseverance! After failing to reach the finish line of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Dakar editions, the day after this picture was taken he would finally get his long awaited reward by arriving safely to Valparaíso.

Captured at the Atacama Desert, Chile during the 2014 Dakar rally. Luca, exhausted and checking his phone at the end of a very long and harsh special (timed) stage. He still needed to ride another 350 kms. to the camp at La Serena for the last stage of the year. The Dakar rally is full of amazing stories of unknown raiders whose victory is just to get to the finish. Two days later he got his prize.

Aún debía recorrer otros 350 kms. hasta el campamento en La Serena para la última etapa del año. El rally Dakar está lleno de historias de pilotos desconocidos para quienes es un triunfo el solo hecho de llegar a la meta. Dos días después el tuvo su premio.

Aan het einde van de rally was er nog een probleem: "Het parcours door het oerwoud was te smal. Ik heb wat bomen omver moeten rijden om de finish te kunnen halen!".
[EN] The 1985 edition of the Paris-Dakar rally was the fourth of its kind for Jan de Rooy and he finished first in the group of heavy trucks with 36 hours to spare. Towards the end of the rally there was a slight problem: "The jungle track was too narrow, so I had to knock down a couple of trees to get to the finish at all!".
