It was quite a dramatic sky tonight over Isle of Arran, with that rainfall mixed in the sun.

Camellia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae. Camellias are evergreen shrubs or small trees up to 20 m tall. They are found in eastern and southern Asia, from the Himalayas east to Japan and Indonesia. There are about 300 species and around 3,000 hybrids. Their flowers are usually large and conspicuous, one to 12 cm in diameter, with five to nine petals in naturally occurring species of camellias. The colors of the flowers vary from white through pink colors to red. Of economic importance in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent, leaves of C. sinensis are processed to create the popular beverage tea. The ornamental C. japonica, C. sasanqua and their hybrids are the source of hundreds of garden cultivars. C. oleifera produces tea seed oil, used in cooking and cosmetics. The various species of camellia plants are generally well-adapted to acid soils rich in humus, and most species do not grow well on chalky soil or other calcium-rich soils. Most species of camellias also require a large amount of water, either from natural rainfall or from irrigation, and the plants will not tolerate droughts. However, some of the more unusual camellias – typically species from karst soils in Vietnam – can grow without too much water. 23598

EN: After heavy rainfall on 7 Augustus 2023 the railway bridge passing the Randklev river at Ringebu collapsed after which the Dovrebanen Trondheim - Oslo was closed until the bridge was repaired. The Dovrebanen is due to be reopned over its full length on 20 May 2024. During the time of closure the freight operators had to detour freight trains via the Rørosbanen Hamar – Røros – Støren. Normally this line is passenger trains only, but in order to create capacity for freight trains most of the passenger trains were cancelled. The Rørosbanen is very scenic with the northernmost part running parallel to the Gaula river in an area with few inhabitants.

This HDR pano shows parts of the harbour in Hamburg, seen across the river Elbe. In the background can be seen the 'Köhlbrandbrücke', a famous bridge of Hamburg. The shots for this panorama were taken from the 'Dockland', a bureau building at the river Elbe at Hamburg, shortly after heavy rainfall. I like this pano with the really dark clouds and the huge harbour.

This pano is stitched from 10 single shots.

A spring rainstorm flows from the clouds to the mountains in British Columbia, Canada. Eagle Mountain and the Buntzen Lake area appear to be receiving the brunt of the rainfall while the sun breaks through the clouds to the west. Photographed from Burnaby Mountain Park on Burnaby Mountain.

The Otway Ranges, south-west of Melbourne contains one of the worlds southernmost temperate rainforests and receives large amounts of rainfall even in a regular year.

This year we've had one of our wettest Winter and Spring seasons in Victoria for many years, so the Otways are alive with water, colour and fallen trees everywhere!

This shot was taken at Stevensons Falls, Barremunga.

With all the rainfall during March and early April the river Nith at Whitesands Dumfries as produced some spectacular sights. Unfotunatley many shops and other properties are flooded on a regular basis.

Another lovely colourful sunrise was in progress until a sudden rain shower tried its best to blot it out. This was a lovely moment where the two were in balance. One thing I did notice while watching the rain landing on the previously mirrored surface of the Murray River was the noise the rain made - it was exactly like the sound of sizzling bacon! Maybe I was just hungry! : )

Recent rainfall has seen Durras Creek break through the sand barrier at its mouth and it will flow into to the sea for a while now. A brilliant sky and great colour made it a memorable morning to be at the beach.

I came to Auckland to photograph a wedding but the city was hit with crazy weather. Rainfall that some say is the heaviest they've ever seen causing mass flooding and disruption to the city.

After a nice rainfall, the Old Kate Trail comes alive in Parkville, Missouri. This is a new angle that I haven't tried before and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Hope you enjoy.

With the huge amount of rainfall being dumped due to the El Nina effect, I grabbed my photo gear and went out searching for my number one passion, shooting waterfalls!

One of several small waterfalls on a 2.5 klm circuit near Hazelbrook in the mid-Blue Mountains, Australia.

Entry into the walk can be started from either Oatlands Rd or Winbourne Rd Hazelbrook NSW. This walk has 5 small waterfalls in a short distance and is best after some decent rain.

A fantastic easy walk with lush temperate rainforest with flowing cascades and wonderful Tree Ferns. This walk is quite an easy to moderate grade which leaves the soul refreshed!!!

Rainfall creates dozens of temporary waterfalls cascading down the cliff faces in the u-shaped valleys of Fjordland, New Zealand. The Cleddau Valley to the west of Milford Sound is one of the wettest places in the world with an estimated average annual rainfall of 13.4 metres (527 inches).
