I'd photographed this on the Midland Main Line at Clapham (north of Bedford), and then chased the train as a result of its very slack timings between Bedford and Bletchley. (However, I didn't like the Clapham shot, as there were too many shadows in the foreground, plus the shot really needed some elevation.)

37611 Pegasus passes Lower Moor (west of Evesham), working 5Q66 13.42 Long Marston - Tyseley LMD. This was taking new West Midlands Railway CAF-built DMUs 196112 and 196005 from temporary storage. The barrier vehicles are 6379 (on the front) and 6378, 6344, 6340 and 6330 (on the rear), and are there to provide brakeforce.
We were unlucky and lucky with the lighting on this. The train was reported reaching Honeybourne Staff Hut (the end of the token-worked section from Long Marston) sixteen minutes late, and it therefore lost its path out onto the main line, on to Evesham, and then onwards on the single line to Norton Jn.
Some thin, high cloud was coming in from the west, and if 5Q66 had been on time it would have missed that and come in almost full sun. Unfortunately the cloud seemed to be increasing, and the strength of the shadows (and the heat we could feel coming from the sun) was gradually getting weaker... The saving grace was that the next Down passenger was running slightly late (it departed Evesham seven minutes down), and this meant 5Q66 set off from Honeybourne 51 late - just as the cloud reached its thickest. But a further six minutes were recorded as being lost before it passed Evesham, and the cloud began to burn off and thin. The train was eventually recorded as exactly an hour late at Norton Jn.
Of course, had the train been another fifteen minutes or more later, then the cloud would have almost completely burned off, but this was considerably better than it had been just five minutes earlier. The image has had a slight tickle to brighten it up a little and increase the contrast.

57312 approaches Black Bank level crossing (between Manea and Ely), hauling off-lease Southeastern "Networker" 465240 from the Harry Needle Rail-operated storage facility at Worksop to the Angel Trains storage facility at Ely. The working was 5Q46 12.54 Worksop Up Receptions - Ely Papworth Sidings. [Pole, 4/6 sections (~5.4m)]
With the train being quite short and the sun beginning to go off the front of the 57, I decided to go wider and use a telephoto lens to get past the vegetation closer to the level crossing. I could have seen over the latter if I'd extended the pole higher, but the wind was rather gusty and catching the pole enough to cause problems. Unfortunately, I didn't spot the shadow across the track until after taking the shot, and the train did not fit in the gap this side of it.
With a faulty HDMI cable (which was worse when the wind caught the cable), I lost the visual connection between the camera and monitor as the train appeared. Thankfully the camera was already pointing in the right direction and hadn't moved enough to lose the shot; I fire the shutter using a long cable release. A new HDMI cable was waiting for me when I got home.
Perhaps this was not the best location to shoot this train, but I'd come straight from work in Littleport and arrived with only about fifteen minutes to spare. Having not previously taken any shots at the various crossings along this stretch, I wasn't sure if any of the others I could get to quickly were any better, so didn't make any last minute moves in case the train did not "go in" at March, and ran early (it didn't).
