Bespoke railings have been installed fronting the iconic Pierhead building within the town centre of Bargoed. Funded from European Structural Funds, the black powder coated railings form a series of arched panels with cut out graphics and images developed by local school children. The images display the kind of items that would have been on display in the shop windows of the former Emporium department store. The Emporium Clock has also made a welcome return in the form of a feature arch linking the steps between High Street and Upper High Street.

I pass this fence that overlooks a great view of the valley every day. Today, hankering for a snap or two, I made my way up there but discovered this damn fence is solid all the way down to the freeway! GAH!
