Quite like this panning shot of the camo Tucano returning to RAF Linton-on-Ouse after the rehearsal for the RAF 100 Flypast.
Needed quite a lot of cropping of my original shot to get to this version. I can see why other guys there had the Sigma 150-600 rather than my 70-300.
RAF Hawker Hurricane Mk1 G-HITT P3717 SW-P
History of P3717
Built in 1940: Manufactured by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. and handed over to the RAF in June 1940.
Battle of Britain service: P3717 was delivered to No. 253 Squadron in July 1940 and was stationed at RAF Kirton in Lindsey before moving to RAF Kenley.
Combat action: Flown by Polish Pilot Officer W. Samolinski, the aircraft was heavily damaged during an encounter with Messerschmitt Bf 110s in August 1940, during which Samolinski was credited with destroying a Bf 110 over Redhill, Surrey.
Further service and export: The damaged Hurricane was returned to Hawker for significant repairs. It later saw service with No. 257 Squadron. The airframe was eventually modified to a Mk. IIa standard with the new serial number DR348 and sent to Russia by the end of 1941.
Recovery and restoration
Recovery: The aircraft was recovered from its crash site in Russia in the late 1990s.
Restoration: Its extensive, award-winning restoration was undertaken by Hawker Restorations, a leading specialist in Hurricane projects. Hawker Restorations is known for its meticulous work, with expertise and tooling developed specifically for the Hawker Hurricane and other vintage aircraft.
Return to flight: The aircraft made its first post-restoration flight in March 2017.
